Good ice cream. Huge portions. The interior is kind of old and worn down. Closes pretty early in the evening. Not many good places to sit or walk while eating the ice cream.

Amazing local product in a clean grocery shop! I have been going since I was a child and love getting ice cream and milk there to this day.

I have been going to Calders as long as I can remember. The ice cream is fantastic and a great value when you consider a single is actually two massive scoops! The chocolate milk is pure gold. If going for ice cream on a hot night, plan on waiting in line — but worth the wait! Never disappointed

Over priced eggnog full of all the artificial and processed ingredients you can get from any super market. It was very expensive and did not taste any better than any other eggnog I have ever tasted from the grocery store. I was so disappointed. I ended up just throwing it away. I think this place is just an overrated urban legend like so many other places Downriver.

The best chocolate milk ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. Awesome Superman ice cream too! Word on the streets is that their egg nog is to die for. However, I refuse to drink ANYTHING with the word«egg» in it. You’ll have to take my wife’s word on that stuff. It’s an old school place with quality, delicious products. Still not sure about that nog though.

My children and I went to pick up some chocolate milk and whole milk as an outing recently. I wanted to show them the awesome place I went to as a child! We ended up getting egg nog, and their Cake Batter ice cream as well. the kids said it was the best ice cream they’ve ever had! Our cat even licked the bowl clean once they were done. Delicious dairy products-highly recommend!

This store has been open since 1946! 69 years! Calder’s is a family run dairy that has the best milk, chocolate milk, ice cream and especially egg nog that you will ever taste. Yes, it is that good. Think of Guernsey only better. Their chocolate milk tastes like a chocolate shake. They say it is due to their herd of Jersey Cows. One thing is for sure, try Calders and you will never think of Oberweiss again.

This place is over rated in my opinion, the ice cream parlor is filthy and the smell is horrid ! Usually under staffed and the wait is crazy !!! The chocolate milk is amazing that’s why I give them the 3 stars, and the location isn’t the greatest either !!

Their chocolate milk is something that the gods have sent down to us and our feeble existences so that way we can know what a taste of what perfection is.

This is the ONLY place I buy dairy. They have natural milk. The chocolate milk is the best I’ve ever tasted. I have order nothing but the White House Cherry ice cream since I’ve been going there(for years). Their cows were the model for the Michigan State Fair Butter Cow for several years. And they are really nice people. Buy local. Buy natural.

Smelled like somebody or something died back in the ice cream area, Couldn’t stand to stay inside the building because of the smell. Very nasty, unclean, apparently Windex isn’t available for any of their glass surfaces /ice cream show cases. Sidewalk weeds & a peeling paint eyesore, ridiculous cow box paint scheme. A smelly, nasty, filthy experience. My father in law wanted a banana split but quote, «were out of bananas» are you kidding me??? Wont be going back ever again to this dump!!!

When I was a kid we used to have the milk delivered to our house. Who could forget the icy cold glass jugs of deliciousness. mmmmm just thinking of it makes my mouth water. That thick rich layer of cream at the top, the supreme chocolateness to die for. The ice cream, an even better treat. The coconut ice cream is divine. The nostalgia, the cream, the sugar!!! This creamery is a must try in the downriver area. whohoo!

I’m a junkie for good ice cream, and this place came recommended from a downriver native, so I was totally stoked to check it out. I ordered a triple scoop in a bowl — three different flavors to test as much as I could. The ice cream was pretty mediocre. It had a very icey texture, as well as ice chips disbursed throughout. As ice cream coming from a diary, I would expect a creamier texture and perhaps a higher butterfat content. I’d go again and try some other products, as they make some of the best egg nog I’ve had from the grocery store, but my main reason for stopping in was for the ice cream, which was a real let down. If things improve, I’ll review again.

Great place for very fresh dairy products. In the front of the store is where the butter, milk, yogurt, great tasting egg nog and also the best chocolate and strawberry milk, at least in my opinion, I’ve ever drank, it is rich and thick, along with other various products which all have the same great quality. In the back of the store, different entrance, during summer is the ice cream parlor, hand dipped with plenty of flavors to choose from and generous sizes, the shakes are also very good as well, you can sit inside and enjoy your ice cream or shake, or take it outside to one of the seating areas. The ice cream parlor is closed during winter, but you can always buy gallons of ice cream in the front parlor at all times.

I was craving ice cream one night so my husband and I hit up Calder Bros. I was a bit confused when I entered the corner shop as there wasn’t an ice cream«parlor» per se, just half gallons for sale. I asked at the counter if it was possible to get just a cone and the woman working explained that the ice cream parlor was along the side of the building at the back corner. Hubby and I both got a single(which is two very plentiful scoops). The ice cream is really creamy and tasty, but the flavors(I had chocolate peanut butter and banana) weren’t as pronounced as I would like. Back to the original shop… my husband loves the chocolate milk in the glass bottle. He asked what kind of milk it was *whole, skim, etc) and the woman explained it was«creamline» which I’d never heard of. If you believe the info on Google, creamline milk is non-homogenized(which means it might separate and need a good shake) and better for you… I can’t speak to that, but my husband swears that the taste is fantastic.

They have the best farm fresh butter that can be found in a retail location. Their ice cream is some of the thickest and smoothest I’ve eaten. With a good selection of flavors(some truly unique) this is a great place to bring the family, sit in the open breeze, and relive days gone by when life was slower and food was richer.

After reading & enjoying all the Unilocal love for Calders Dairy, I decided road trip yesterday. Motz Burgers & Calder Dairy. .who knew they were only miles apart?! Calders Dairy is so old school in a great way, from the very friendly gal scooping ice cream, to the gal staffing the dairy store, who knew a lot about each product ! Ice Cream Dairy: So many flavors & the size of the single scoop serving, I chose chocolate –peanut butter, with hot fudge & whip cream. A+ Dairy Store: The Chocolate milk HOLYCOW! Every review mentions it, but I have never ever tasted such a rare treat & the simplicity of only 4 ingredients vs. chemicals Grade A Milk Sugar Cocoa Pure Vanilla A++ + sold in a glass bottle… Bought some French Onion Dip, it is very good, but I prefer the Country Fresh label, based on texture alone B My 52 mile round trip /road trip was quite wonderful!
