Big Sals had very decent bar food… Pretty standard but their pizzas are delicious. The service was decent I had to walk to the bar to get my refill and pay but up until that point he was very attentive. The owner then came and personally thanked us, gave us customer appreciation cards and invited us back. If you’re looking for a pretty cheap lunch($ 12-$ 15) that is tasty Id definitely stop here!

We live close to this authentic neighborhood pub. Although the ambience is bare-bones, the food is incredible. We have wowed many of our friends with their pizzas we take home. The Rubens are simply the best in town, with chunks of real, slow roasted corned beef, and the exact right proportions of crout and Swiss cheese. The excellent food has been consistent for many years, but what has prompted me to write a review? THEAWESOMEHOTWINGS!!! My husband loves hot wings and is constantly on the search for good ones in Lincoln, and here, just a few blocks down, the best ones! I don’t usually like hot wings, but I am in love with these. They’re cooked to crisp perfection, lots of meat on each bone, rich, flavorful sauce in many different flavors. The price is right too! These guys have hit the ball out of the park. Well done, Big Sal’s. You make this neighborhood proud.

I was first introduced to this place over a decade ago when it was called«Fat Pat’s»(I still get that confused). It’s my favorite pizza«joint» in Lincoln, and probably in all of Nebraska so far. I always get the combo when I come here. It definitely has a «hole in the wall» feel with the atmosphere of an old neighborhood bar on the inside. Definitely worth a try if you like pizza, though I’ve never tried one of their sandwiches before.

The mozzarella sticks kinda sucked(why it gets 4 stars instead of five) but the pizza was fantastic.

This is my favorite pizza place in town. I stopped in after hearing about this legendary pizza on Tues night. I was greeted with a smile and ordered a large Big Sal– it was at my table and in my mouth in 15 min. The flavor exploded in my mouth– wow. This is a must have! Needless to say I finished 50% and took the rest of it home! I am please to report that the pizza tasted just as fresh the next AM. I can’t wait to go back!

Great pizza! Good specials! I would pass on the garlic rolls, stick with the tasty pizza. The staff is very friendly. You get a small town feeling in the city. We will be back!

Big Sal’s is a resturant and bar located in a working-class neighborhood on the northern side of Lincoln. You will not find any pretense when you decide to eat and/or drink at this establishment. Instead, you will find a warm and genuine staff who possess an uncanny ability to put their guests at ease. Big Sal’s lacks the frills and themes that a lot of other restaurants and bars like it tend to feature. Its tone is set by the wood paneling, keno, monstrous television, other guests, staff, and good food. The menu offers a selection that is ubiquitous in a lot of establishments of its type: burgers, sandwiches, deep-fried anything, soups, salads, and even a pasta selection. The truth is that the joy of eating in this place goes beyond its honest, inexpensive food. It’s a true neighborhood bar and resturant where the locals eat — and play keno. I would recommend trying one of their pizzas. Theirs happens to be the only pizza in Lincoln that I ever find myself actively recommending to other people(I’m from Chicago, if that provides any credence). I usually grab a Big Combo — it’s their version of a supreme. If you do decide that you would like to pay a visit to Big Sal’s, look for the brightly colored yellow awning on the east side of 27th Street.

Their pizza is the best in town and their Friday and Saturday deals can’t be beat. Never had a bad pizza here, ever. Highly recommended.

I’ll tell you what, I love me some Big Sals pizza. We came down for a football game because what else is there to do in NEB? Deciding to eat at this ‘dive’ pizza place, turns out, I’d love to go back. This is my kind of place. It wasn’t overran with college students looking for a cheap beer, but rather a few families and some respectful college students. The regulars there helped us decide what pizza to get and even made us feel very welcome to be to ‘their’ place. One of the three pizzas we ordered took a little longer than normal. Not only did the owner of the place stop by our table and take it off our order(which we didn’t even complain about or really even noticed) but he also spent some time to get to know us, welcome us and really looked like he took pride in running his place correctly. Would i return? Hell yes! Only if I’m stuck in NEB over night…

Another outstanding pizza place. It is across town from my house, but I make a special trip for this pizza. It is phenomenal! The crust is one of the best in town! Making my mouth water just thinking about it.

Heard their pizza was good, so I stopped there one weekday afternoon to try it. The bartender/waiter came over and took my order right away(small pizza). They were not busy-only one other table was full. After waiting a half hour, the bartender/waiter came over and said, «My bad. I forgot to turn your order in. Can I get you some garlic rolls while you wait?» The whole time I was there he was more interested in talking to a couple of guys at the bar than doing his job. Finally got my pizza after 25 more minutes. Yes, I should have left after a half hour, but, when i got the pizza it was very good. Pizza, good– service, terrible.

Cool dive bar. Just off the corner of 27th and vine. It’s right by my house so sometimes we’ll just walk on over with a group of people, order a pitcher and a pizza for $ 15, which by the way their Chix Mesquite pizza is kick ass, play some pool, Thursday nights they karaōke [which is always fun] it seems like an old guy’s bar, but being in college we love going there. Try it out, you’ll understand their saying — «Good pizza, good beer.»
