Say hi to Danny while you are there. He is an awesome small business owner that goes out of his way for customer service. The sandwiches are huge and he uses only fresh ingredients. He slices the meat for each sandwich in front of you. The menu is diverse enough for everyone. Come downtown to see Danny.

I’ve lived Omaha and Kansas City and will be moving to Lincoln. Being a vegetarian, sometimes I feel cheated on toppings. Not at Danny’s. Danny’s is the best deli sandwich I can find in both Nebraska and KC(KS and MO). The bread is fantastic, sliced to order cheeses(and meats for those who partake), and a charming, quirky atmosphere reminds you you’re not at a corporate chain. On top of that, Danny is as nice as they come. I cannot wait to be a regular!

I very rarely get impressed with a sandwich shop, but this is an unusual place. It has a very special atmosphere which is better than any chain in the downtown area and I have tried them all. However, the main thing that sets it apart is the freshness of the food and the fresh baked bread and fresh cheese. The bread is thin so it is far better for you if you are watching your carbs. There service is special as well and the folks who work there are very nice. It is well worth the trip if you park a few blocks away or walk up from the Haymarket.

I like the DTD. Danny is definitely a different guy though. Also, he doesn’t take cards and is closed on the weekends. Food is good, but I don’t think he really gets the whole business thing. 3 stars because at the end of the day, it’s just a sandwich. Something that really bugged me was that after I had already paid for my meal, Danny told me that it is his favorite sandwich on the menu and to get it toasted next time. He never even gave me the option to toast it so I was kind of bummed going into eating my sandwich. Brat

My husband loved his vinny’s sandwich. Mine was super yummy. We agreed this place is the best sandwich shop in the Midwest.

I always get the same thing when I go which is the grilled veggie combo so I can’t vouch for meat quality. I can, however, tell you how wonderful getting a veggie sandwich at Danny’s is! You get any kind of cheeses you want on it, no additional charge. Then you can pick out all the veggies you want grilled and the ones you don’t then slap on some dijon and you have one delicious sandwich. Per the posted signs, if you get a meat sandwich you get to choose up to 3 veggies(I believe is the correct number) at no cost then after that you get charged but on a veggie you get anything you want. They just recently started accepting credit cards but still accept checks.

This is one of the best values for lunch you will find anywhere. A great locally-owned Lincoln establishment. Fresh bread made in the shop, sandwiches made to order, great, expedient service and generously-applied high-quality ingredients. The result is a tasty and amazingly inexpensive quality lunch that you can enjoy at the deli or of course easily take with you to your lunch meeting, picnic, etc. Next time you are thinking of ordering from a national chain restaurant for lunch, consider trying this Lincoln original.

I have been here for lunch about five times now, and I am mad at myself for not stopping here sooner! They have excellent meats, cheeses, and bread. Very high quality. The employees are extremely friendly, and the owner has been there every time. I love to see that he cares enough about his deli that he refuses to let somebody else run it into the ground. The pastrami and corned beef is my favorite, but I really think this is one of those places that you just can’t go wrong with no matter what you order.
