This office FAILS and is a terrible clinic. I have been spending a lot of time at doctors offices and have been«shopping around» a bit for my aging parents and others. Their are 5 things I look for in a doctor/office. 1. They know about new drugs/procedures/med equipment.(I don’t want anyone using 1980s Treatments on me or my family. 2. They have free samples of these drugs/med equipment. 3. They spend more then 2 min talking to us about what is going on. 4. the office staff is knowledgeable and friendly. and 5. They don’t over prescribe /treat or under prescribe /treat. This office FAILS at all five of my requirements. First off, I asked about medications/samples and they say not only do they not have them, they don’t talk to drug reps at all. Now I know what you are thinking. YEAH! they kicked out the drug companies, this is great. But no, it sucks. My mother is diabetic and I have been doing some research on various new diabetes drugs. Not only did the doctor not know anything about these new drugs, they refused to write them because«They are not right for my mother» Hogwash. I am a pharmacist and I know all about these medications and my mother was a perfect candidate for several of the new classes of medications but I could tell the doctor knew nothing about them. Why I like drug reps and samples. 1. They know their products and teach us(Pharmacists and Doctors) all about what is new and where it is safe to use it, and where not to use it. 2. Samples are great! These drugs are expensive, and I do not want to pay a $ 50 co-pay for a med that doesn’t work. Try the samples for a few weeks and then see if it works, and then I can buy it. This office has blocked reps and samples and based on my interaction with the staff after a few questions, I realized they are treating as if its the 1980s, using old drugs and outdated advice. This is UNACCEPTABLE. The office staff was so poorly informed on the new stuff I could not believe it. The nurse actually told me that we did not want the new GLP-1 or SGLT2 because the side effects were worse then insulin. This was crazy talk, and showed their ignorance. We waited way to long to get back, and the doctor spent 3 min with us. It was pathetic. Her advice was to keep working on diet and exercise and up-titrate Lantus. What a joke. Never going back to this office.
