Rhode Island Medical Imaging

I came to RI Medical Imaging for an MRI that was recommended by an orthopedic specialist. I called to ask how much the procedure would cost and I was informed that I would have to pay $ 400 for the day of the procedure. I was never informed of the total amount the procedure would cost and I thought that the $ 400 I was paying was the total. A month later, I received a bill for an additional $ 1,198.98. When I called to inquire, I was told, «I should have inquired further». I knew I had a high deductible, but I would never have followed through with this MRI procedure if I had known upfront that it was going to cost me this much. I know that this policy of not informing patients of the total cost of their procedure unless questioned is not the way all practices handle business. I was referred for another MRI in New York and they told me it was their policy to inform me upfront that the procedure would cost some $ 1,300 and I opted out of the procedure. I may not be able to afford to get an MRI with my current insurance plan, but at least I know I can trust this company to tell me what I’m getting myself into. The doctors and nurses I saw at RI Medical Imaging were all wonderful. The problem is that I don’t trust a system that could leave someone like me, who has never had to go in for an MRI before, feeling like its just common practice to have to question the information one is getting before a treatment. If this policy is not intended as a trap, it still serves as one. I hope that whoever reads this review will be more prepared than I was.

After being diagnosed with a chronic illness, RI Medical Imaging was yet another new doctor’s office I visited. This visit was for a bone density scan that had been ordered by my doctor.
I arrived just on time and there was only one person in the waiting room. I was surprised by how nicely decorated, new, and clean the office was. The receptionist was fairly friendly and efficient. My wait was barely 5 minutes.
The x-​ray technician was very nice and charismatic. She knew exactly what she was doing and I was in and out within 10 – 15 minutes.
My visit was exactly what the ideal office visit should be, quick and efficient with competent staff. RI Medical Imaging will be my go to office for x-​rays and alike in the future.
