This place was amazing! A welcoming hostess greeted me and a buddy. We were brought right to a table, ordered some appetizers. My friend couldn’t get enough of the cornbread and the sauces served with it(jalapeño honey, bacon jam and a sour cream type sauce). It was very good. My sandwich was amazing and his pork chop was awesome. I think mine was the triple barrel, he had the pb&j porkchop. The best flavored sauce I’ve had in Lincoln(sweet BBQ). Also they have breaded eggplant that has an awesome crunch and flavor. We plan on being back at least a few more times(we are here for work). Our waitress, Holli, was very personable and came over to us with a great attitude. Very nice to see a great meal combined with great service. We spoke to the manager after the meal to tell her how pleased we were, she also was very personable and was interested in what we had and what we liked. Hands down a great place to go! Superb job!

We decided to try this place based on the Unilocal reviews and a recommendation from our hotel. Waking in at 5:30pm there was nobody to great us. After 3 minutes or so I went to look for somebody. We sat in the main dinning area which has a cafeteria feel and not very inviting. The food was surprisingly good. We all ordered different type of BBQ. I’d have to say their pork ribs were really good. The brisket was equally as good. Pulled pork… not so much. Service was great once we got past the front door situation. Overall it’s worth eating at. I’d more than likely just order the dry rub pork ribs.

Wow. Had the PB&J Porkchop with maple grits. The combination of flavors was unreal. Very tender and flavorful.

Had the ribeye. Asked for medium rare and it came out rare. Took a long time to refute it and it was still undercooked. My buddy had the porkchop and it was undercooked and pink. The manager didn’t come to talk to us. The waitress was nice and apologetic but only took a couple bucks off for the inconvenience. Seemed to be understaffed. I have no doubt the food is ok but when you get charged $ 30 plus for a steak, it better be right and it better be good.

The food was wonderful! We had ribeye and a strip both were cooked perfectly with great flavor! We also had the best dessert! It was called Puppy Chow cake. I gave 4 stars because the service was lacking… Waited for drinks and server forgot appetizer.

They have a GREAT bourbon list but don’t have very many of the GREAT bourbons on that list. A place that is going to call itself Single Barrel should be able to secure the hard to get juice or at a minimum update their bourbon list regularly to keep it accurate.

Excellent steaks, bbq, side dishes. Very extensive drink selection too. Will be coming back to this fine establishment again.

WHISKEY! WHISKEY! WHISKEY! If you enjoy whiskey, this is the way to go. I have never seen so many bottles of so many varieties of whiskey in one place. This was definitely a great opportunity to try new whiskies that I have never had before. The staff was awesome and the pulled pork sandwich was AMAZING!

Bbq sampler plate is so damn good! Services is great, prices are on the higher end, but for the service & food, it’s a fair request.

Unless you are here exclusively for the really strong bourbon menu, there is no reason to frequent this place. Sides sound great, taste bland. Steaks thin and poorly cooked. Service really poor by Lincoln standards(which is to say quite friendly)
Had an event here last night and we ordered appetizers. The first app we got was a pulled pork french fry thing. It was really good, moist and excellent flavor. We also got cornbread, ick. It was so dry, it crumbled as you tried to put butter on it. It came with 3 types of spread. A butter that had some strange flavor to it, a jalapeño honey that was terrible and some sort of bacon paste. The cornbread was a skip. I hear the meals here are much better, but, meh, I’ve had better appetizers.

One word: Bacon. Make sure you make bacon a part of your entire meal. I was drawn in by the bacon infused bourbon made in-house and had that on the rocks. It was great flavor, subtle taste and smooth. Let’s get into the real part of the food though. The bucket of bacon is incredible. It’s nicely chopped in-house with the right texture between crunchy and soft. Perfectly fried, and the pairing of the jalapeño jam made it so much better. It was almost like a dessert and an appetizer in one! By far the best. For the main, I went with the blackened pork chop. It was served with a great peanut butter sauce which at first made me think it wouldn’t be pleasant but don’t knock it until you try it cut was great, cooked perfectly with a great moisture and perfect texture on the sauce. I’ll definitely be back to this place. The staff is very nice and friendly and though it was empty when I came in, it looks to be a great weekend spot. Clarissa was our server and she definitely took care of our big group.

Great lunch. I had the Brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and beans combo. The ribs were just ok but the rest of it was great. Loved the sweet BBQ sauce. My colleague had some giant sandwich that had sausage on it. The sausage was AMAZING! I would definitely come back.

Lena and I ate our dinner here tonight, our first visit to Lincoln. I wanted steak, of course, being in Nebraska. Seems like the steak scene is much better in Omaha, but we heard this place had a good casual atmosphere with reasonably priced steaks. I was not blown away by the all around experience, but as far as steaks go, this place had it good. The Ribeye, which is my personal favorite, was wonderful. I had it cooked medium-rare, which was a little more on the med rather than the rare side, which was fine. It was juicy and flavorful. I could have eaten one to myself, but we decided to share. It was $ 34.00, which was not bad for how good it was. I would say this: If you want a casual atmosphere to enjoy a nice bourbon and steak, you don’t want to spend too much money, but you won’t flinch at spending 30 some-odd bucks on a steak alone, come in here and enjoy a meal. I honestly don’t see you being dissatisfied.

Kait is the rain man of whiskey. The girl is that skilled at picking out something that meshes with an individual palette. If you’re feeling like trying something new, let her take the reins and pour you something good. Also, for a steakhouse, the veggie sandwich is really tasty. I wish there were more options for those who don’t eat things with faces, but I’m pretty happy with that. As a flexitarian, I also love the meat selection. It just tastes fresh. The staff is fantabulous. And hot.

As a whiskey geek, I was excited to get to check out The Single Barrel to see what all of the fuss was about. I’d come in most excited about their bourbon offerings, and I wasn’t the least bit disappointed. They have a great selection of bourbons, with really reasonable prices on most things. They even have some pretty rare offerings that you’re unlikely to find in many other places(I got to try a 30 Year old Jefferson’s Presidential Select, which was an incredible experience). As great as the whiskies are, I was really impressed by the food. The Single Barrel is particularly proud of their locally-sourced meats, but as a vegetarian, I wasn’t able to take advantage of them. That said, I tried their roasted veggie sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. Rather than just being a bunch of bland veggies stacked on soggy bread(which I’ve had far too often), the wide variety of vegetables were perfectly seasoned and cooked until they were just tender. A layer of amazing fried eggplant chips added a great crunch, and the pesto aoili kept everything moist and creamy. Oh, and do yourself a favor and order the maple black pepper grits — they’re astounding, and pair extremely well with bourbon! Finally, I need to acknowledge the service — we were served by Kait, the head bartender at The Single Barrel, and she was incredibly welcoming and hospitable. She really knows her stuff(both about bourbon and the menu), and her passion for the restaurant was absolutely clear. This is a great place, and I can’t wait to go back.

I came here for restaurant week and was very pleased with both the special menu they put together as well as their usual menu. The atmosphere has a rustic country feel to it. It is one very large room with a stage in front where on weekends a lot of bands play and they have other events. There’s a long bar on one end and the restaurant itself is one large room with lots of tables placed throughout. We dined early on a week day and were seated quickly and our order was taken promptly. The server was very pleasant and knowledgeable about gluten free options. For restaurant week they had only a 20.00 menu with three very nice appetizers, entrees, and desserts to choose from. I had the bacon, egg and fingerling potato frisée salad, the pork lion with a cherry thyme cornbread sauce, and the banana crème brûlée for a dessert. The salad and dessert were pretty good but the entrée was excellent. A perfectly cooked pork lion with a cleverly concocted sauce. The service was good, gluten free options were abundant, and food quality and quantity were excellent. Price was very reasonable even for their routine menu. I definitely look forward to visiting again soon.

Wow! What a meal! How has this place not been on Man Vs Food yet? We had a difficult time deciding what to order, as it all looked pretty good. For an appetiser we started with cornbread, which comes with bacon jam(delicious!) and jalapeño honey. We also ordered a barrel of crispy bacon(which again comes with the jalapeño honey)(picture included). Bacon was extra crispy, and standing upright– heaven! For dinner, I ultimately chose the PB&J pork chop– as it looked mouthwatering tempting: charred pork chop over a peanut butter sauce with that bacon Jam(seriously — how had I never had bacon jam before?) with maple black pepper grits. It was all better than I imagined! The pork chop was prepared beautifully– and the combination had so much flavour! Our server explained many people substituted out the grits– oh heavans no! Get the grits– it completes the flavour experience! My colleague ordered the brisket– which was also smoked to perfection. We both agreed that this place would be amazing and packed in the winter– something about smoked meats and whiskey would definitely warm up a Person during a Nebraska winter. Lastly– it is a whiskey house– and their list is deep, and relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of the country. A Macallan 15 made for a nice pairing. If in Lincoln– and looking for a chop house for Nebraska beef, steaks etc– definitely check out Single Barrel!
