Drove by today and it was open. In fact, the front and REAR doors were WIDE open. There is also now a «Closing Soon» sign in the window.(I get it, Radio Killed the Radio Star). They will be closing for good on Sept 27th, 2014. I Absolutely smelled to high heaven of cat urine and feces, and cigarette smoke, along with the normal nasty musty odor of neglected old paper. None of the other used book shops in town smell(not even of over powering air fresheners) and they also have animals in the shop. If you can hold your breath LONG enough to have one last go through for that missing bit to your record, cd, or book collection, better hop to it.

This used to be my favourite place for used books in Lincoln. It’s simply stuffed with old books, at what seems to be the standard pricing system for most used bookstores,(½ cover) and I can almost always find something that I want there. Sadly, there is less stuff there now, since the owner cut his shop space almost in half, and he, while relatively friendly, is working up some nice bitterness towards the internet, which he seems to think is killing the bookselling business. News Flash: Technology changes things. You can adapt. If you don’t, you have nobody to blame but yourself. Also, what is it with used bookstores and Public Radio? If I ever find a used bookstore that just uses speakers and a custom music mix, I might never leave.
