If it weren’t for a Groupon I bought I would probably have never tried this place. If it weren’t for the Groupon I bought I would have been really upset that I spent that much on this place. This evening never really had a high point except for the good time I had with my GF and our friends. We had trouble getting them to accept our Groupon(which had no limiations), the waiter never came back unless we flagged him down. The apps were over priced and not all that great. My friend shared the fish and chips. They were over battered and fried to hell. The beer is so-so. We had to wait a very long time to get our check and then get the receipt. The place was practically dead.

Haven’t been here for maybe 5 – 6 years. It’s OK, but in this price range, there’s far better. They’re in the process of moving to a new location near Hawthorn Mall, so they’re not currently brewing any beer. But aside from that, the meal was OK, just pricey.

An awesome groupon brought me here. 1 growler, 2 appateziers and 2(5) shot beer samplers for $ 20. My guest and I ate the Nachos. They were very good. We deceided to pick the wings as our second appateizer, in which were also very good in taste. The beer however is not one of my favorites. I like Amber Ales and this place did not cater to my likes. The restaurant section is huge, has a nice fireplace and the wait staff does a good job checking up on your visit. I would come back here, but nothing about the place really stands out for my liking. Make a visit and you might think different.

Meh, I like the concept but overall poorly executed.

Food: 3 Décor: 3 Service: 2 I came here for a company buffet-style dinner. The food was mediocre, and service was a bit disappointing since I had to request for water.

Finding a restaurant that 30 people will collectively like is a tough job. It’s even tougher when everyone also wants to sit outside on a gorgeous summer day. When I called for a reservation for 30 outside in their beer garden, they said it wouldn’t be a problem. When we got there, I was amazed that not more people were out there. It’s large, with enough tables and space to accommodate several more groups than just us. This is your pretty standard«Everyman» restaurant and bar. The food was decent with lots of choices and the beer was flowing quite well. The servers were kept on their toes by all of us, but still did a commendable job. And the best part? 30 people were happy and sated.

A friend of mine has hit this spot a few times during those inevitable visits to with the family in the ‘burbs, and let’s face it, sometimes those are best washed down with a beer or seven. I figured this would also be a good place to refuel after a vigorous game of mini golf at Par-King. I was mostly right. The beer I chose hit the spot for me, a Belgian triple, which was a seasonal choice, and I liked a couple of the choices from the boyfriend’s beer sampler, which is conveniently only $ 5. He loved his burger(they can sub a veggie burger for all their burger options for those averse to eating cows… delicious cows) which was topped with all kinds of madness including a fried egg. My salad was just ok, not bad, but more heavy on the lettuce than the toppings. I think I should have gone with a burger or sandwich, and would do that next time. The service was friendly, if a tiny bit slow, and our waitress was great about letting me omit a salad item and change the cheese. Unfortunately, the chicken was also omitted from the salad, which of course was not our server’s fault, and rectified, but it was a bit of a bummer to have to wait for it. I’ll give it another shot and grab a burger with my brew next time.

This review is for lunch. The service was very slow, and many food items came out to us incorrectly, or not at all. The food didn’t taste very good either. I had a Greek salad, but the lettuce was a bit wilted and didn’t seem very fresh. I would not recommend this restaurant for lunch.

This place is pretty close to my job in the burbs and I went after work on one Friday for drinks with co-workers. We went at a time where pints were $ 2.50, which included a wide range of house-brewed ales and lager(s). The selection was pretty good, beer just OK but great for the happy hour price, and the one appetizer we got(nachos) was standard bar food. I’ve heard bad news about the lunches, but for an after work 1 – 2 hour hangout, it’s pretty good.

Decided to try a new brewery today instead of the standard mickey finns or RAM. It didn’t have the lunch atmosphere I would expect for a friday afternoon, the burgers were really well made and tasteful and can’t beat the $ 2.50 microbrewery beer price. The main knock was the bartender was a little less than friendly with anyone who didn’t appear to be a regular. When you have less than 6 people in the entire bar area it might make a difference make sure everybody is doing okay. But I don’t believe one bartender’s bad day is a representation of the entire restaurant. Will come again. Next time I will throw on my sex panther cologne, may change his tune then.

Just say NO to sunday brunch. I enjoyed Flatlander’s for years. I was sad when they discontinued their Sunday Brunch because it was always great. I heard Brunch had returned and I went back immediately. Sadly the return of brunch was a return to mediocrity. The old brunch i would rate a 7 or 8 out of 10. This brunch was a 1 or 2 out of 10. Much of the food was barely edible. Bake goods stale. Food sat in warming pans and over cooked. Variety of food and fresh fruit horrible. This used to be a buffet with fresh smoked salmon, fresh berries, great egg options. Now it is a waste of $ 18 dollars. I will not return. Avoid the brunch at all costs. It is possible that food off the normal menu is still good. Many other customers seemed to be enjoying burgers.

I went with a couple of guys to celebrate. Walked in and went near 10 minutes before I had to get up and ask the bartender to be served. But the response was so rude and uncalled for that we decided to leave. They had a waitress working as well. She looked at us multiple times, but never came over to us and didn’t seem to care. I was hoping for a good time, but now I realize that you are not going to find it here. I’m never going back.

This is pretty mediocre… typical American restaurant. Their specialty is suppose to be their hand-crafted beers, but tried the Grandfather BLondie, IPA, and stout. None of them impressed me. The IPA and Blondie were more watery than anything. I also ordered the Chopped Salad which is super mediocre. Chicken was tasteless. Had some of the bf’s fries which were pretty good. Other than that it is as typical suburban American restaurant as it gets. Not worth the trip in my opinion.

Yeah, so the outdoor seating was nice, which is what brought me into this place. It’s pretty big inside, too. But the bar area could use some personality. It looks like every other generic suburban large bar with a bad dj(although there wasn’t a dj working when I was there), some cheesy signs, etc. I looked in the dining room, too. Same generic décor, and it didn’t seem like anyone was in there. I wasn’t really paying attention. Anyway, the beers are pretty good. I found a couple varieties worth ordering. The lager I thought was pretty good. Can’t remember what else I ordered, but it was good, too. I was going to try their stout, but I was pretty full by that time. So yeah, sitting outside, drinking beer, and reading without some crappy, annoying, safe for everyone, music was a good thing. Ordered a steak. Maybe I should have gone with a burger, since there were a lot of burgers on the menu, but I really just wanted a steak. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. Cooked the way I ordered, but flavor was nothing to write home about. I ordered a salad, and that was a joke. Some iceburg lettuce, a couple other greens, some shredded carrots, etc. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Too full for dessert, also. Maybe I’ll go back for a burger next time. But definitely sitting outside again.

I drive by this place on my way to work every day(given, I’ve only been doing that drive for four weeks), and it looks good. The branding and building are neat and inviting, it looks like a place you’d want to go. My wife and I got inside and were surprised at how enormous the building is. And then, how entirely empty it was. Then the food came and I realized why. Flavor-wise everything was okay(I had their brisket sandwich, wife had a chicken club), but just okay. The worst part was how dry both of our sandwiches were. They are heavy-handed with the dry meats and then skimpy on any sort of spread or dressing. Oh and the beer… not so great. I’m a fan of IPAs, so I tried theirs. Won’t do that again. It’s just kind of a mediocre place to eat.

Fish and chips are soggy. I was trying to be mindful of the fact it’s a brewery and order some beer food but it was a failure. The beers however were good but everything was just straightforward, nothing too fancy and the porter was too light for my taste.

I love going to breweries. I practically took a brewery vacation when I visited the northwest. I was so disappointed when I left this place. The beer selection had no characteristics. Drinkable, it just doesn’t have that«craft» quality. They’re food selection was also pretty bad. The nachos had that slimey nacho sauce and everything tasted stale. The tater tots we ok. With that said, they do have a nice outdoor seating area. If this place were closer than the Yardhouse I would consider visiting again. But probably not.

I’ve visited off and on over some time now. I like their beer garden which I don’t think is used enough and like the main dining area. The bar is a room with nothing that gives it personality. Even when they have live entertainment, it’s not enough to get you our of your seat and motivated. Food is still average /okay, large portions almost similar to Cheesecake factory. Weekday lunches are filled with corporate types, sit outside for a difference of company. Sometimes food can drag and I’ve learned from others that calling ahead is not tacky, it saves time. Nothing too bad about Flatlander’s to scare you away, just. they don’t stand out. If it came down to local breweries, I’d choose Ram over these guys.

Price performance ratio is horrible. Their appetizers are good but nothing special or out of the ordinary. Their entrees on the otherhand, almost inedible. I was invited out on the company dime and there must have been 30 of us and only a few enjoyed their meal. I will not return for their food, but maybe for their brews.

I want to make sure that there is full disclosure. I have not eaten or had one drink in flatlanders. Now that I have gotten that out of the way. There aren’t a lot of bars in the north burbs. The area is ideal for families but not the«hot spot» if you are a single woman. Yet when you don’t want to drive into the city you need a place to go. Last night after dinner a friend and I decided to try flatlanders because a few folks in the burbs told us about it. Well we walk it and it looks like some type of log cabin on the inside. We go to the bar and it is crowded and we literally review the crowd and leave. Just not my type of spot. It felt like we stepped into a high school reunion and she was not Romy and I was not Michelle. So, we literally turned around and walked out of the door. Where did we go? Hmm to the city.
