American Karate Do

My son joined Sensai Coles class in San Diego, CA when he was 6 years old, 2006. Sensai tought him respect, perseverance, patients, honor, critical thinking and so many more things to list. My son is now 15 years old and displays everything that Sensai Cole taught him on a daily basis. He helped my son in becoming respectfull helpfull young man he is today and he misses his Sensai and classes.
Sensai is a wonderful teacher, hilarious, a decorated veteran with a great work ethic. You could not put your kids in better hands than with Sensai Cole.

Miss you Master Chief

I am an old student of Sensei Dan Cole’s from the original American Karate Do/​Shorin-​Ryu school in San Diego, California. He contributed much of his time then, and humbly continues to this day now in Lindale, to enrich the lives of those that want to learn and apply Martial Arts.
What Sensei Cole taught in that little school in San Diego – integrity, courage, compassion, politeness, honesty, honor, loyalty (the Samurai Code/​Bushido) – translated to how I carried myself into life now 20 years later. No, Martial Arts is not just a way to defend oneself, but it’s really a way of life in the best way. Really. I can say with some certainty that the many many other students that he taught and mentored must have grown up with those virtues in mind. At least 8 of which during my generation were promoted up to 2^nd or 3^rd degree Black Belt on Sensei Cole’s watch – not an easy feat that took at least 7 years to accomplish in my own case.
Without Sensei Cole’s dedication to the Art, steady guidance and motivation to never give up, many characteristics acquired through studying Shorin-​Ryu that shaped me as a human may have never had developed. Put simply, there’s A LOT of things – from how I respond to verbal or physical conflict/​aggression to calming my own nerves through meditation – that I can attribute back to the Art under Sensei Cole’s school.
Writing this took me back. I can assure you that this school, American Karate Do in Lindale, Texas will reward anyone and everyone that sets foot here. Thank you, Sensei.
