First run at this place last night and, frankly, I was surprised at how much I loved it. Old school diner atmosphere. Modestly sad salad bar, but that’s my only knock against it. The steaks and catfish were spot on, cooked perfectly, with the steak temp textbook medium rare, and the catfish fried just until crispy, yet moist. Delicious seasoning, clearly the cook is tasting as he/she cooks, and adjusting appropriately. Veggies were fresh and delicious, with a home-cooked flair. Gravy was deeply flavored and rich. Warm, fresh yeast rolls are served pull-apart style. Service was super fast and very friendly. Clearly the owners and staff have put time, effort, and love into their product. THIS is what home cooking, diner-style should be. Will definitely return!

Breakfast is one of the best deals in Lindale — 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon &2 pancakes for $ 3.99? portions are always generous & we end up needing a take out box. Wowza… And, there is a room that can be used for group meetings.

Burgers and onion rings are excellent. My husband and I split the catfish platter and get an extra salad bar. The salad bar is fresh and has a lot of variety. We also eat breakfast here. Prices are very reasonable. Atmosphere is «home town café». We LOVE this place.

My wife and I have eaten here on a couple of occasions. Don’t understand why the parking lot is so full when their meals have been less than mediocre. I am assuming that is because they have no competition in their immediate area.

It was ok… I hade the chicken fried steak which was delicious. However the broccoli was watery, cold and undersalted. The beans could also use some more ground beef. The bathroom was also very dirty.

This place was recommended by the lady ay Kiepersol winery in Lindale… what a find! My wife had catfish and I had chicken fried steak. Very large portions and food was great! Next time we are in the Tyler area we will definitely stop by. Staff was very friendly. Great home style cooking.

Hole in the family family place. Lots of lunch specials. We had the catfish and the beef tips. Catfish was a little salty. Beef tips excellent. Rolls are yummy yeast rolls.

I had the jumbo fried shrimp and it was about the best I have ever had. The breaking was perfect and the shrimp was tender and perfectly cooked. Definitely try these if you come here. Had a baked potato, fully loaded and it was perfectly baked and fluffy. The dessert was a small individual chocolate pie with meringue. It had a rich chocolate flavor and smooth consistency. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. We had great service. So why the three stars when we had 5 star quality food and service? This place is a DUMP. The floors are filthy and look like they haven’t been mopped in several months, if ever. I could see into the kitchen when the doors opened and it was about the dirtiest kitchen I have ever seen in person. The only kitchens I have seen that were dirtier were the ones shown in Kitchen Nightmares. If I wasn’t here as a guest of my in laws I would never have stepped foot in the place. I mean seriously, it was the filthiest restaurant I remember being in. Ever.

Took my parents to Petty’s Steak & Catfish today for lunch. We found it on Unilocal and since it had received great reviews we thought we’d give it a try. We all had the catfish. It was Delicious! The catfish fillets were large and cooked perfectly — hot, flaky, and lightly battered(much more fish than batter!). We will eat there again next time we are in the area.

Some of the best fried shrimp my mom has ever had. Steak and potatoes were perfect. Rita, our server was so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Great food for the price. I had a chicken fried steak with baked potato. The worst part of the experience was the check out girl(maybe she just broke up with her boyfriend). She was very young and not very nice.

We wanted something different for a nice lunch and I found this little golden nugget of a restaurant. We wanted to drive our RV somewhere fun!!! Old town feel no nonsense service, which was great!!! The food was awesome… Catfish, Ribeye, salad, potatoes and the poppers were so good!!! If you ever want a little road trip… this is a great place to go. After lunch we went down to The Pink Pistol!!! A great pre 4th of July weekend lunch!!!

I am a Lindale, Tx native and have been to Petty’s many times. Each time I hope for a different experience with no luck. Always poor service. Worst service I have ever received anywhere. The food is pretty good, but the restaurant is old and dirty. Not worth your time. Sadly, not a good representation of this town.

I am from Dallas, but was in town for a high school play off game in Tyler. We decided, to look on Unilocal for lunch ideas, and had multiple of options. With numerous amounts of positive reviews, we had to give it a try. It’s a little bit further off the highway, but extremely worth it. I ordered the lunch special, which, included many options — however, I chose the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, side salad, corn, 1 bread, 1 cornbread, sweet tea, and piece of dessert — all for 8.99! Can’t beat that, especially for the quantity and quality of the food. We also, ordered a double bacon cheeseburger & fries, for 8.99 as well. The amount of fries, and size of burger was extremely worth it! The person who ate this, would make the drive back, just for the burger. He added a sweet tea, for just .99 cents, and they kept the pitcher on the Ya me for us. We then ordered two chicken strip kid meals, for 4.99 each — drink included. Once again, portion size, was awesome. All fresh, and battered. Overall, the bill was right at 30.00 for 4, and worth every penny. Bathrooms clean, restaurant clean, and prompt service. Note, the time on the door said they were closed from 2 – 4, but, we arrived at 1:30 and they were not closing at 2:00 on this day in particular — so make sure to check if they’re open if it falls between those times. I highly recommend this place if your nearby!

We have eaten here numerous times and never had a bad experience. Chicken fried steaks are in the top 3 I have ever had. Service is always top notch and pleasant. It’s a great country home style resturant you won’t find very often.

This place is a must try! Fruit/salad bar very good! Salad bar is best thing about this place other than outstanding service! The salad bar fixing are fresh & tasty. See pic of salad. It even had sausage so hubby was in heaven. Tilapia was average. Coconut cream pie: yuuuuuummmmm I officially need a wheelchair. Shelley was our waitress & she’s the best! And check out the picture of the homemade bread — eeeeek!
