Meson Tropical

Currently still waiting for my order which I placed almost three hours ago. Was told 4 times by the restaurant that it would be there shortly. Still has yet to arrive.

Ordered takeout last week and the quoted wait time was a little long (30 min) and actually took a bit longer after arriving. However, once we had our food we forgot all about how long we waited. Best mofongo we’ve had in the area and there are quite a few options around here. We had two skirt steak mofongo and the steak was amazing. Looking forward to visiting again.

My god, this food is incredible — reminds me of truly authentic Dominican food. This place is literally a hidden gem.
I ordered mofongo and it was prefect, presentation was also neat so that’s a huge plus. My fireman ordered the skirt steak and that was also amazing! Heaven on earth.
Service was alright, perhaps we caught our server had a bad day cause she had a little attitude. Luckily for me, I went for the food and I was not disappointed!
P. s. It’s seems that this place is byob so I’m bringing s bottle next time!

Honestly, this is the best Latin food available in this entire area. The pernil/​pork roast is without a doubt the best pork roast I’ve ever had (and I’ve had some damn good pork roast). It’s the perfect texture with great flavor and the right amount of juiciness. You cannot find a better pork roast in the tri-​state area, without a doubt.
But, that’s just the pork roast. Everything that I’ve had from Meson Tropical has been outstanding. The service is always just as fantastic as the food.

They USUALLY have good food, but customer service is horrible. I called in an order was told its be done in 15 minutes. I got there they didn’t have anything from my order done. They ran out of empanadas so I had to stand there and wait for them to make new ones along with them making the rest of my order. I don’t see the point in ordering before hand and not have anything done. Also the «fresh» empanada was horrible.

Went for an early dinner with hubby. Very clean… simple yet cute décor. Very clean. The staff was soooo amazing… so nice. Concerned about how we liked the food. Kept asking if we needed anything else. We had chuccaron appetizer. Delicious… so tender… made to order. We had skirt steak as main course with tostones. Soooo delish. Portions are large. Good value. I will be returning!!!

Food was good BUT… yes there is a BUT… service was pretty bad. Chicharron Mofongo was good, although I discovered two small pieces of aluminum foil in it. We ordered a cup of ice with some lemon for our water… never got it. Would of gotten at least 3 stars but ya dropped the ball on this one Meson Tropical.

The food here is really good and while the workers seem pleasant, their customer service is lacking. I’ve been ordering from the restaurant for over 2 years. Their delivery service always takes forever, 1 – 1.5 hours on average, but the food was always good so we’d deal with it. However, tonight we ordered over $ 50 in food. 2 skirt steak orders and I asked for an order of Chicken Mofongo.
When I looked over at the receipt I noticed that it said «Chicharon Mofongo» which is pork. I unfortunately don’t eat pork. I immediately called the restaurant and the young woman asked for my receipt number and when she pulled up my order she mentioned that our receipt stated Chicharon. I understood that but mentioned I asked for chicken. Rather than apologizing for their error it seemed like they were trying to prove that I ordered the wrong item. She then mentioned that I needed to send back the wrong item before they could send me the correct order.
While I get some people might try to scam to get a free meal but being a long standing customer and having spent over $ 50, you’d think they would be more accommodating. Mind you, the original order was placed before 7pm, called back to correct the order before 8, and only received my food after 9pm. I handed the delivery driver the incorrect food, got my chicken, and plan on looking for another Dominican restaurant to order from when we’re craving.

For an affordable and tasty Dominican experience, this is the spot to go. My faves are the mangu breakfast, (which is mashed plantains served with grilled onions, fried cheese and salami) and the pernil served with rice and beans. Also the morir soñando is great too. What would give this place the perfect 5 star rating is if their service was just a little faster but that’s just being picky.

Food– 5 stars
The food is always good. We’ve been ordering here for years and have tried most things on the menu. The empanadas are tasty… Beef, chicken and shrimp. The tostones are yummy and the garlic sauce it comes with is even better (if they don’t forget to include it in the order), the tilapia is plentiful and delicious. The PERNIL is out of this world. The masitas are always tasty and you get a generous portion. The beef stew is wonderful as well as the oxtail. For dessert, the tres leche is phenomenal and authentic and good to the last bite. I wish they would put it in a container where it doesn’t drip onto everything in the bag.
Service –4 stars
Service in the restaurant is okay. The owner is pleasant and courteous. The younger ones are not as professional but polite enough.
Delivery-​1 star
As I’ve said above, I’ve been ordering for years but many times when we really want Meson but are super hungry, we will order something else even though we really want their food. And this is why… delivery time is ridiculous. It’s beyond ridiculous at times. Sometimes the food comes and it’s not hot. And the worst part is some times, you don’t get everything you asked for, particularly the sauces that go w the empanadas and tostones. I wish so much for the delivery service to improve because the parking behind the restaurant is annoying.
Overall, the food is great. It’s definitely worth eating here. The food is authentic and made w care. I will continue to order from here and if delivery improved, I would def move it to 5 stars. If you are going to order via delivery, order way before you are hungry.

Food is absolutely to die for. The staff is amazing. Rachell is the truth. Nothing like great food with great company. You know it’s more than just a restaurant when you can make friendships.

Been here at least a dozen times and the food is always superb! Had flan for the first time the other day and it was excellent!

Great food! Ordered through seamless and was impressed with how soon food arrived and it was still hot and delicious!

Dined in with my parents the other day and I must say — the food remains to be amazing. My Dad got the Pernil and was raving about it all day. I’m infatuated with their guava-​queso empanadas. Probably one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
Service was superb and the staff was very friendly. I definitely want to give them another shot with delivery soon.

I tried this spot out for the second time and was even more disappointed than the first time. I was told an for delivery «tops» and the delivery took an 1 hour and 45 minutes. When I called the guy who answered was super rude and said they were busy and to had to wait. Excuse me? I could definitely take my business somewhere else which I am after the quality of this food. Once the food did come they forgot my beans and the food was ice cold.

I wouldn’t give any stars for the reason that 1^st impression is very important, went to get a Dominican burger «chimichurri» and I can say that a $ menu burger is way better, the place needs lot of improvement, dishes are washed in the front of customers, and my burger was done with a frozen flat peace of meat + they use wrong bread not the regular roll «pan de agua» that’s normally used for this; will I recommend this place…

1^st time I have tried this place, OMG, the food here is AMAZING!!! BEST steak I have ever tried. BEST spanish restarant that I have ever tried. Have to try this place. Will not let you down at all!!!

Been herre numerous times on my vacation I’m puerto rico the sandwich are good and corn meal with cinnamon is my personal favorite. ALSO THE YUCA STICKS I LI K E ALSO

Meson tropical is one of my favorite Dominican food local restaurants. I have done catering from them 3 times and always food came out perfect. 1 time the driver got lost or at least that’s what he said. I’m sure they were just running on Dominican time. Food is not a joke. I will eat everything on the menu and have tried most of it already. My favorite is pork mofongo! Delicious. I also really like their shrimp mofongo. Empanadas both chicken and beef are off the charts rice and beans along with salads are great. Their shakes are also really good. Place is small cozy and have seen the same people there working for years now. You will not be disappointed with the food and the price.

Delicious, well priced and fast. Love it !! (I love the cleanliness but they should consider cleaning tables with fragrance free products when customers are in there)
