Metropolitan Warehouse

I would NEVER advise that anyone should use Metropolitan Warehouse, ever. A combination of incompetent delivery people, combined with incompetent customer service people. Take your business elsewhere - anywhere else!

Possibly the worst. I scheduled a delivery for Wednesday. Come Monday and they informed me that my items will be delivered «tomorrow». Pretty sure Wednesday is not Tuesday in this universe.
And they only «service» certain areas in NYC on some days of the week. Obviously they decide what those days are on a whim with no regard to their customers.

If you are lucky enough to have a choice whether or not to use this company then by all means DON“T.
I ordered several items from Anthropologie and 9 of the items were shipped by this company.
8 chairs and a rug.
They received my items in NJ then shipped and held my chairs for a month and a half in a warehouse in NC. Apparently they only deliver to my area (MN) on the 3^rd week of every month so even though it was now the third week of December my items were on a journey to IL to take a 4 week holiday there.
Long story short when they FINALLY delivered the order (which had now become 2 orders combined) they left 8 boxes of chairs and didn’t deliver the rug! My agent who signed for the chairs didn’t know that there was a second page on the packing slip for the rug.
I tried twice to contact the driver and twice to talk to customer care at Metropolitan. I’m sorry but not once have I spoken to anyone at this company who seems to fully understand or fluently speak English. I seem to be calling Asia.
3 hours later, I am still waiting to hear back from them. Apparently they need to «email the Urban Center» to find out what dispatch can do about this? What?! Give me a break.
No, seriously. I could use one. This company is giving me an aneurysm. Anthroplogie owes me a drink– or twelve.
Update: the driver returned UNANNOUNCED 5 hours later with the rug. And called me because no one was home. Really?! I had to have him leave it outside. I still haven’t heard from the shipping company as to what their «plan» was to get this item to me. Maybe the «Urban Center» was as non-​responsive as they are.
I now require a 13^th drink to soothe my last nerve this company has aggravated.

I thought maybe the first time was just a mediocre crew who hadn’t put this specific bed together before and didn’t care about clean hands on brand new white furniture. I corrected the team on how the parts should go together during the process so it wouldn’t have to be re-​assembled correctly and was met with resistance by the «white glove» crew who left dirty hand prints all over my white leather bed. Fortunately they listened to my instruction and didn’t need to put the bed together twice.
Second round involved a cabinet delivery to a client’s building where no workmen are allowed in the building after 5pm. When I was given 1 – 5 delivery window I specifically made the dispatcher note that the piece needed assembly and crew must be out of building by 5pm– they missed the 5pm deadline (didn’t even arrive until 6pm) and when rescheduled was given the same window. Once I made note of stipulation again they told me they would be there 12:30. I get a call at 9am on delivery day saying they’ll be there in 30 – 45 minutes. When I called an hour later to find out where they are I am told they are on the other side of the city by mistake so will make delivery there and come to me in another hour or so «probably” — now they’ve wasted another 2 hours again today on second try to get it right for this delivery.
As a designer who receives goods on a regular basis… this operation is the worst so far.

After waiting 15 days from scheduling a pickup, I received a telephone call on Monday that my pickup would take place that day from 3 to 7 pm. I received a second call confirming this time a few hours later. I normally close at 5pm, but waited an extra two hours for the pickup which never came. The following day, I called them and was told that there was no truck in my area, and the nearest one was in Denver. I am in Chicago. I asked why I was told that my pickup would be yesterday if there was no truck within a thousand mile radius. The customer service representative to whom I spoke had no idea and told me, «You’ll just have to wait.» I asked for how long, and she repeated, «You just have to wait.»

Bought a sleeper sofa from Costco. Had a delivery scheduled for Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, the driver’s dispatch calls that the driver’s truck broke down and delivery will need to be rescheduled. Then radio silence. I call in Wednesday afternoon, told I’ll be contacted later. Received a call Wednesday evening that driver will come on Thursday.
Waited all day Thursday, nothing. Called in later in the afternoon and was told that driver will instead come in on Friday. WTF? Do they have no respect for people’s time? Couldn’t their dispatcher have informed me of the change? Unacceptable.
I plan to contact Costco Furniture to let them know about this experience. They shouldn’t be using this company — it’s inappropriate for a top-​reviewed merchant like Costco to use such a bottom of the barrel delivery service. It’s tarnishing Costco’s good rep.

Don’t believe the positive reviews. Those are written by the owners no doubt. This company is a worthless attempt at «White Glove Service». They scheduled to deliver a furniture set to my parents house. Just setting up the date and time was a pain in the arse because they have a terrible system where they outsource the call center but the dispatcher you actually have to schedule with, is stateside. So ridiculous. After four attempts to get the right person on the phone, I finally spoke with a dispatcher and scheduled delivery. It was supposed to be delivered last Friday (over a week ago) between the hours of 9am and 1pm. My parents waited all day for no one to show up. No call, no show. Then I called to see what was the hold up and the office was closed until Monday. Are you kidding me?! Monday morning I called and spoke with yet another person in India. She told me «Well of course your furniture was not delivered on Friday. It is in a warehouse in another state.» What? This is their answer??? So I asked to speak with a manager and she put me on hold and sent me over to a dispatcher in the U.S. After I had given her all of my information and explained the problem, she puts me on hold where after waiting close to ten minutes, I was rerouted back to the Indian call center!!! Shoot me in the skull please!!! So I called back and was told that that they had actually called (the day of scheduled delivery) to tell me that the delivery was to be postponed because they didn’t actually have the furniture. At this point, this had been going on for a month. How was it that they scheduled the delivery if they knew they didn’t have the furniture? When I told the dispatcher that neither I nor my parents received a call, she read me the number they called and it was conveniently one digit off from my real number. How is it that they had called me successsfully on three other occasions? Baffling nonsense. To date, we have not received the furniture. One Kings Lane has had to refund my shipping fee but cannot guarantee now that I will ever see this furniture. Allegedly they are going to call me back this week to schedule another delivery time. So, stay tuned… I will be sure to post the outcome of this insanity.
***Update: after weeks of being lied to and never retrieving my furniture, I contacted One Kings Lane again. I got a full refund. Have no idea what ever happened to the one of a kind furniture that I had purchased and I’m fuming that the whole thing got so fouled up and led me down a road of false hope and frustration with nothing to show for it.
These people should be put out of business.

After reading some of these reviews I was nervous, but then I remembered that most people just use Unilocal to complain.
I ordered a sectional sofa online and they used this delivery company to get to to me here in IL from CA I believe.
The delivery took a while, but I knew that was the case from the beginning, and the staff kept me in the loop the entire time.
The day of the scheduled delivery they arrived smack dab in the middle of the window they gave me over the phone, and although I had ordered curb side delivery, the guys brought it up to my apartment and assembled it for me in my living room, without me even having to ask! Great service… they were super friendly the whole time.

Worst and most unreliable delivery service. Damaged almost every piece we shipped with them. You are better off using Fedex or UPS.

This is the worst, worst experience I’ve ever had with a delivery. This company is disorganized, rude, and has no useful information about months-​late deliveries when you call. Their customer service reps are trained to tell you that they’ll «call dispatch» and get more information for you as a means of turning you away with a carrot. I got my furniture vendor to call them, and they apparently rebuffed with «we told the customer everything,» which is hilarious, considering that they told me nothing. 7 – 10 days my foot! More like 7 – 10 months, if you’re lucky.

This has been the worst experience of my life with a delivery service. I ordered a table through One King’s Lane and had a delivery scheduled for a Saturday between 3PM and 7PM. The table never arrived and customer service was closed! No one got back to me. When I did get in touch with someone, the customer service rep was completely in the dark and didn’t seem very concerned. One King’s Lane did get in touch with them and my table had never left the warehouse apparently.
Flash forward to a month later and a rescheduled delivery window, and they are over an hour late past a 4 hour delivery window. I received no call to update me on the driver’s whereabouts. I called Metropolitan and was told I’d receive a call back with information in 2 or 3 minutes. Instead, no one called back! When I tried back 30 minutes later, their automated message was on saying no one was available to help.
They are irresponsible, disorganized, and dismal with communication. I am fuming and would never have ordered this table if I had known what I would be in for.

I have placed an order with an online store and Metropolitan Warehouse and Delivery was selected to deliver it. I contacted the company directly after waiting for several weeks with no update. At that time I was told that pieces of the shipment were missing and I would be called once everything arrived. Two weeks later I had to contact the online vendor to start getting the issue resolved, and all of the pieces have been located. For the past week I have been told that the company will contact me to schedule delivery, and I have heard nothing back. It seems like the company just doesn’t care.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Charged us $ 260 to deliver a bed from New Jersey to New York and failed to deliver it on the day it was supposed to be delivered. No explanation; no apology; no discount for failing to abide by their agreement to deliver the bed. Worst of all — they charged us in full before making any delivery. We need to arrange deliveries on a regular basis — we will never be using this company again.

I’ve never had such a wonderful experience before. I was kept up to date on the date and time of delivery and was called when the driver was 15 minutes away.

After having a horrible recent experience with Plycon I was wondering what would go wrong with my delivery from Metropolitan — I was pleasantly surprised! They called ahead of time with a choice of delivery dates, called the day before with a window, found my place without any difficulty (not easy to do) and the furniture arrived in perfect shape in part because each piece was carefully blanket-​wrapped including the legs, something Plycon could not be bothered to do.

I ordered a couch through Urban Outfitters online and was told that Metropolitan would be the delivery service used. After about two weeks of not hearing anything about where my couch was I decided to call. For the next few days I was put on hold, told i’d be called back, hung up on, and in the end never told where my couch was or given an estimated delivery date. Finally at the 3 week mark when i called the dispatcher told me that the couch had been in the california warehouse and apologized for not having called. She told me that someone would call me to schedule a time at which point I said to just give me the very soonest time available and i could guarantee that someone would be home.
…Needless to say no one ever called me back and when i went online to check for an estimated delivery date it still said there was no date scheduled (even though someone had told me that it was in the california warehouse). This morning I called first thing when i woke up and was AGAIN told that i would be called back because no one at the california warehouse was picking up the phone. I called back an hour later and asked to be connected directly to the california warehouse. A woman picked up and when i told her my situation she put me on hold and came back on the line to say «we will be delivering the couch tomorrow (Saturday) between 10 – 2, will some one be home» I said yes and confirmed the delivery. FOUR HOURS LATER i got a phone called from Lupe at Metropolitan warehouse saying they had a couch for me and wanted to set up a delivery time of between 12 – 4 on Monday. When i explained that I had already spoken to someone just hours earlier who confirmed with me that the couch would be delivered on Saturday between 10 – 2 she said that would not be possible and they only deliver to my area once a week on Mondays.
The customer service ive been dealing with has been absolutely awful. First of all, if i had not been calling every day since i found out the couch was in California when would someone have called me to schedule a delivery date? I mapquested the warehouse address and it is less than 2 hours away from my house, yet no one has delivered it yet? I agree with the other review I read for this delivery service, beware if you hear they will be delivering your furniture. They will not call you back, they will not keep you in the loop as to what is going on. And they most likely will not be delivering your furniture on time. I will be calling Urban Outfitters to advise them that they should probably use a different third party shipping company.

I had placed an order through an online store, and unfortunately they had Metropolitan Warehouse and Delivery as their delivery company. They first gave me a delivery date of Dec. 28, 2012. After sitting home for four hours and not having my delivery, I contacted the driver. He said my order is not in CA and that the main office should have contacted me. Long story short, they had sent my order to the wrong customer. So they scheduled me for a second delivery on Jan. 19, 2013, three weeks Later!!. Again when I called them to ask what is the time of delivery, they tell me they don’t have my item yet. It has been an extremely frustrating experience. They are extremely rude and do not bother letting you know what is going on. You have to be constantly on the phone to find out what’s happening with your order. If you leave them messages. they’ll never return your call. So you need to make sure to get someone on the phone.
Unfortunately today I won’t be able to speak with whomever is in charge, because it is a Saturday, but I have already filed a complaint with Consumer Affair and will do one with Better Business Bureau and will attempt to hire an attorney to deal with this situation.
Just make sure if you are ordering furniture online, ask the company who is their delivery service. If they tell you Metropolitan, cancel your order and buy from elsewhere. It is not worth the frustration. I have been waiting for my order for months now, and I still don’t know when I will get it.
