Ummm definitely a new experience. It was early on a Sunday am after dropping a son off at the airport, decided to stop at this well lit 24 hour diner on the way back. There was a sign across the street advertising«gorgeous ladies» but I was with my hubby and it was daylight so we decided to try it. So I walked in and there was literally NOONE there. No greeter, no cashier, no busboy, totally abandoned but well lit. So hubby says«except for that dead guy in the corner». I thought he was joking but then I looked and saw legs and shoes hanging out on the floor from the booth in the far corner. So I said«let’s get out of here» and we went to another diner. Never got to try any food. Ummm, a new breakfast experience for me.

HORRIBLE! We visited on a Monday in the afternoon so the place was empty, which was perfectly fine. The waitress was not friendly and didn’t make eye contact with us. I almost felt like she didn’t like us. She was impatient when were placing our orders. I ordered a turkey burger that tasted like paper. The chicken and broccoli pasta was covered in some sort of preservative. It was slimy. I had to ask for clean silverware and the cups were dirty. Overall the service was poor, I felt uncomfortable, and the food was bad. I would never return.

i’m going to give this place four stars, because for a diner, esp a diner on route 1/9, this place excells. i don’t know what they call the place now, it might be the ‘liberty diner’, but as of august 2014, the place is very very good. the specials are super cheap and a great value, the salad is crisp, and the veggie burger is home-made, unique, and great. i also stopped in once for cheesecake, and it rocked, too. this place had a bad reputation, but they have new owners(they’re indian – maybe add an indian special once in a while???) but they sure have cleaned the place up. i think they’re open 24 hours, too, which is good to know.. . so four stars isn’t a ‘real four star place’, but for a diner, it’s up there!

This is not your typical NJ dinner — US1 dinner is a ‘truck stop’ dinner. This is probably the worst dinner in the Central Jersey. I had to read other Unilocaler’s review before posting mine and I just don’t understand the 4 – 5 star reviews but I did find more 1 star reviews and I will have to agree with them. From the time you walk in, till you leave — there is just everything wrong with this place which includes food. The while place is being run by an Indian family which also includes the cook — and they act like a family even when customers are around which is not professional. And one time, the waitress’s boyfriend was there & they were«flirting» the while time we were there. The food is pretty horrible too: the tuna is never fresh, French fries are horrible and any cold cut meat smells. And on top of that, the place is not clean. Only good thing about this dinner is the location & that about it. Don’t bother with this place & I wont be coming back here ever and I work 5 mins from here.

The worst diner in NJ, I am willing to bet. Dirty(lipstick) on the coffee cups when they served it. The greeter was the waiter and was the manager. We asked for milk for coffee instead of cream and he went to look to find out they needed to go to the store because the milk was frozen from yesterday #fail where is restaurant rescue?

good prices, good portions, Nice staff. Got the Breakfast combo, one Belgian waffle, one pancake, a peice of French toast. with a side of bacon. All was cooked perfectly and had a nice dusting of powdered sugar. the reason for 3 stars was the Ham my friend got. Tasted kind of Old but the rest of his meal was great. oh and of course Free Refills on soda

Be careful when ordering specials on Sunday or Monday, it probably consists of food that was ordered on Thursday and if it isn’t used within 4 days it will spoil. Such is the process of running a kitchen and keeping food costs down. The Italian Omelet is serviceable but flavorless. It’s quite a feat to serve bland Italian Sausage. Their basic cheeseburger(I ordered with Swiss) is decent and comes with two handfuls of fries. The Lumberjack Platter is another lame duck. You’re extremely limited with 24-hour dining in this area, and if you want diversity, this is it. But I can guarantee that you’ll never see this place profiled on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. But if there was a show called, «Food Carts, Food Courts, and Shit Holes» then it might have a shot. A pretty good shot actually…

Took a customer out to this diner for lunch(used to be Liberty Diner, but had recently changed name and undergone renovations). The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the menu was extensive and had a lot of tasty sounding choices. I got the grilled chicken and roast pepper melt that wasn’t half bad. My guest hardly touched her tuna melt, as she just did not enjoy it and the slices of process American cheese weren’t much melted. Due to the convenience of the place to work and the many menu options, i was willing to chock it up a single bad experience and return, until a later that afternoon, I get a call from my customer who had found green mold on a slice of cake we had taken to go. Mold on cake! How long must cake sit around before it grows mold? We called the restaurant, and while they were somewhat hesitant, they did offer to replace it. Needless to say we did not bother with another piece of replacement cake from here.

This is the first time I’ve been to this diner. Now called Liberty Diner, The renovations are nice, big space and very clean. There were only two waitresses and one of them seemed to be at odds with the manager on duty(we could hear their banter from our table) It wasn’t very crowded yet the staff seemed overwhelmed and a bit tense. The menu is the typical large, multi paged glossy photo kind and we were given an extra print out of dinner specials. I ordered a gyro w/french fries and my boyfriend ordered the Traffic Jam(2 pancakes, eggs, and two meats) he opted for all bacon as opposed to bacon and sausage. When our order came the eggs were on top of the pancakes. My bf spent a few moments scraping cheese off them. He thought the syrup was way too light for the thickness of the pancake an wound up having to douse them. The bacon was more fatty than anything else and tasted just ok. My gyro looked promising… until the first bite. I was unaware beef gyro meant sliced flank steak gyro. The pieces of meat were extremely thick and lacked any flavor. It was very fatty or had too many tendons so I spent a lot of time chewing and eventually grew tired. The tzatziki sauce was decent and so were the fries. I gave it two stars because it was nice and clean and the owner seemed like a really nice guy. We spoke with him in the parking lot afterwards. The grand opening is supposed to be this weekend, I wish them the best of luck.

I was greeted by the waitress and seated immediately and ordered the lunch special lasagna and a drink. The drink came out asap but after fifteen minutes I told her I had to leave and would pay for the drink. She and the manager begged me to stay and the food would be out right away. The food did come out within a minute and the center of the very large portion was still frozen, but it did have melted cheese on top. I offered to pay for it since I did eat a few bites but was told to pay nothing and I left. The portion was huge for lunch but being it was a daily special I thought speed and heat would never be an issue. Not likely to try again.

Usually I don’t have a lot of time when I go to this place and sit at the counter. The last two times they were extremely slow in getting me my check so I could pay and leave. After waiting for five minutes, I told a manager that I needed my check. I had to wait another five minutes, and then the waitress had to write out my check by pen. The first time, I had a movie to catch. The second time, I was on my lunch ½ hour from work. With counter service at most diners, they give you your check before you are finished. It’s overall one of the better diners around, but I need to get out the door much faster.

This is a fantastic diner under the new management. Who would have thought I would get one of the best veggie burgers I ever had in Linden! The first time we came here was by chance while driving through US1 and just stopped on a whim. The area is not the best so we were skeptical but the food and friendliness of the staff blew us away. The owner has been a chef for 25 years and makes his dishes with love. We tried the veggie panini and burger and it is hands down the best! The veggie burger is homemade by the chef and not one of those frozen patties you get at most places. My wife had a chicken dish and she loved it too. It feels like in the middle of nowhere but it is worth a trip!

Huge portions! i have visited many times, but the last time i picked the dinner special and had a 4 course dinner(soup, salad, entire and desert) for only $ 10. not only was the food high quality, but there was plenty for at least 2 more meals. my friend had the chicken marsala. and said that it was just as good. i would recommend everyone to go here now that the management has changed. they also have completely re-staffed the diner. The new diner has the BEST baked goods! i highly recommend the pumpkin pie, and the cookies! if you havent been since they re-opened, you HAVE to go back, it is a different diner! ps they also let you bring your own wine and beer.

Food is pretty satisfying for a late night/early morning meal. I would recommend the grilled chicken and the crispy chicken sandwich with honey mustard– very tasty and both come with a large order of fries.
