Okay — based upon word of mouth and nice reviews, I gave Doc Lee Lau another try. I don’t get why people love it so much — especially when Tang is around the corner. The service was nice. Soup was good. Shrimp egg roll was awful — literally, one shrimp in there. And again, the chicken in the entrée tasted old — really old. I got the boneless chicken with Chinese vegetables. They specifically told me what veggies would be in there — bok choy(none), water chestnuts(none), etc. Ribs were meh — very dry. Done with this place. Go to Tang if you want quality food. Sorry.

They’re my go-to for Chinese takeout. Quick delivery. I feel like they’re a little pricey than average but they always give free food if you spend over $ 30. I’m a big fan of the basics: chicken/beef and broccoli and I love their cream cheese wontons and beef on a stick. Wings are actually great as well! My boyfriend always gets then happy family. I can’t speak for the actual restaurant, never actually ate there.

I recently decided to give them another try after a long hiatus. The General Tso’s was decent, as were the cream cheese wontons. However, they have changed their fried rice, and not for the better. I liked the old way they made it better, even if on the dry side. Not much in it at all now. I was also assured that I was within the delivery range and that whoever told me otherwise in the past was incorrect. I upped my review by 1 star based on the improved quality of the General Tso’s, but I would have given it 5 if not for the change in the fried rice. The owners were super friendly and personable and even remembered where I lived after not getting delivery for several years which was quite impressive. I’m thinking that maybe the several bad experiences I had were just a temporary issue. Everything is now pretty much back to what I always loved about this place. I am not a fan of the current pork fried rice though.

Today was my first time here inside is kind of outdated. The bar in the front is a nice addition lol. I ordered the general tsos chicken combo. The chicken was nice and spicy and crisp. The fried rice was run of the mill and the eggroll was ok. Next time I will try the lunch buffet I believe it was only $ 6.95. Overall not a bad place

Love Docs have been going for years, dont let the fscade deter you the food is awesome, theyre very friendly. Fair prices, its so hard to find good chinese where I live so we travel 15 Mins to get food from here. Being thst my entire family has been ordering food from here for years they even offered to deliver all the way to my home when they arent super busy. They will go out of their way. Occaisionally on a Sunday the food is a little off(not bad just not the same) which is my reason for only 4 stars.

Don’t be deceived by this restaurants appearance it is a DIAMOND in the Rough of eateries. I have to say I’ve never had a bad meal from Doc Lee-Lau. My favorite is the General Tso Chicken which is delicious. They always give me upon request double portion of the dipping sauce for the steamed dumplings and if you order $ 22 or more on take-out you get either chicken wings, fried rice or fried cheese wontons for FREE with your order. Friendly staff and very accommodating.

The place in antiquated and could use a good updating. Rugs a bit dirty and seen duck sauce on wall. There is a bar with local boozers there dropping f bombs and sometimes loud. It is like going back to 1971 in some hole in the wall chinese place, just about the time chinese food hit mainstream America. Now the food, I never yet got sick. The food is piping hot and traditional tasting. I dont care for the fried rice but the main dish was good on all visits there. The waitress is long time family member and works hard to make the customer happy. If the place was reorganizsd and cleaned up the food would be double the price. Getting good tasting chinese food is getting harder and harder. It either lacks flavor and quality or the portions are weak. I can compare the tast here to what you had when you were dating your wife years gone by and she wanted chinese food and it was easy on the wallet. If you want to capture that time period, go here and dont look at the decorum or the rugs… have some fun…

I don’t understand why all my friends recommend this place. It’s old and dirty, there are flies all over the place. And the food has gotten me sick more than once. I also have a cousin who got food poisoning from here. The food is usually OK, but I’d rather eat better food and not get sick.

I was a customer of Sun Lee Lau in farmingdale, when he closed down i had to find another great source of chinese food. BEHOLD! His brother Doc Lee Lau!, Doc’s food is even better than his brother. Great pork fried dumplings, excellent General Tso’s chicken. Beef sticks are like a cut of flank steak. Buffet is always nice and fresh. Betty and Michael still run the place and Doc is there tending the bar. Great food great people.
