My husband and I ate at this home town restaurant last Saturday(Oct 3, 2015), on our tour thru Kansas. We always like to check out the local places(non national chain stores/restaurants) and get a feel for the local«flavors». We were very pleasantly surprised with how good the food was here. We started with the baked Brie and I had the vegetarian risotto, and my husband had the prime rib. WOW what a great meal! I forget the wine we had but was very nice as well. The restaurant ambiance is just what you would expect in a small town, a little dated but comfortable. Dated isn’t always a bad thing and this was a nice quiet comfortable place to have a lovely relaxing meal. We will definitely come here again the next time we are out in that area. This place is a gem, and I highly recommend it.

I went here and had the meatballs. They were so yummy. This small town has such nice people and the people who work here extend the niceness into their work. They had an amazing mix drink that was mixed with whip cream and omg it was amazing! What a great place to eat!!!

Ate late at night only one’s in restaurant. Excellent service, outstanding food. Wonderful coffee, although this was about 8:00 p.m., which is above and beyond for the restaurant and much appreciated. Free wi fi, which was very much appreciated. We enjoyed our meal and experience and plan on eating here again during our stay here. I’ll update the restaurant as we stay. The food was reasonable in cost and well prepared. I do suggest if you aren’t sure what«Swedish» something is, you ask, or you may be disappointed The server was really outstanding. I would give it a «5», and I have no reason not to give it a «5» except that I try to reserve a «5» for the very, top best. Maybe it will be a «5» if my future experiences are the same as our first visit.

I like to go off the main road when driving, looking for those little gems that are not truck stops. I stopped here because I am from Minnesota, home off all things Scandinavian and we have been to Sweden many times and love it. I tried to have dinner here but didn’t pan out so well. First thing I saw on main street of the Swedish village was a Mexican Restaurant! I asked some ladies near a cute shop with Dala horses out front for a recommendation which was the Swedish Crown. First I was wondering why they had a room dedicated to the Vasa? I’m guessing they didn’t know the real history of this«warship». It was built as the biggest and best and upon launching, opened the gun wales and immediately took on water and sank… Very bad design by ship architects. The Kings folly. It was pulled up from harbor and restored and has it’s own museum, albeit a wonder to behold, still a joke for the Vikings! I ordered the Swedish Plate. Supposed to have potato sausage(my favorite) meatballs, dilled potatoes and lingonberries. Plate came to table after quite a wait and no sausage! Waitress went back to kitchen, and they were out. Meatballs were so not Swedish. Swedes use very little beef. These looked like plastic and had brown gravy. Could not eat them and plate was cold as were potatoes. They didn’t charge me, but I didn’t get a meal either. I ordered coffee and dessert. Coffee was cold and they were out of dessert! Waitress was adorable. She came and sat with me and said«Well, this ship took on water and is sinking fast». I’m so sorry. I was too. I would think twice before returning. If you choose to go, find out if they actually have the good they advertise. Also know it’s the very Americanized version of what real Swedish food is.

This is a good family restaurant. But it disturbs me because when I go for lunch I am always satisfied. But for dinner I am always dissatisfied. The timing of the appetizer/entrée delivery is just awful(rushed). The food is always the same(lackluster). An the drinks are always sub par. They do have an event like a wine dinner for example about once every 8 weeks that are always perfect! So great, 5 stars! But for everything else I have to rate 3 stars. I want for the crown to be a classy dinner location but it sadly isn’t. They need some etiquette training and a reworked menu.

My first foray into Swedish food, in a tiny little dot on the map in KS. We had the buffet unfortunately, which boasted only one clearly Swedish dish. It was a layered potato and leek casserole with Swedish Farmers Cheese; delicious. The food on the buffet($ 15) was high quality, but if I ever go back I will be ordering off the menu! I was disappointed in knowledge-base of the servers. They just barely knew what was on the buffet and generally didn’t know what was in the food.

Very good food and service, right in the heart of Little Sweden(Linsborg, KS). My husband said it was the best fish-n-chips he’s ever had.

Had a really great lunch in here when stopping through the town. Our group ordered the swedish meatballs and the swedish pancakes. Both were delish. Service was friendly and fast, restaurant was clean and comfortable.

Very nice, clean restaurant with professional friendly staff. Husband had the special — a salmon with orzo & mushrooms in a herb cream sauce. It was wonderful! I had shrimp with rice and vegetable of the day — a very peppery broccoli that I couldn’t even eat, but husband loved it. Can’t wait to go back and try some other things.

Good Swedish food… only wish they had meatballs and noodles as an entre and not just as a kid’s portion.

I ate here with a group of about 50 from a conference. It was prearranged, so I can’t speak to ordering from the menu, but if this was any indication the food is wonderful. I am not an adventurous eater, so I ordered chicken. It came with delicious green beans and wonderful rice. The new owners are young and working to make a real contribution to their community. They’re trying some new things while staying with the traditional dishes The Swedish Crown is known for. Give them a try. I have a feeling you’ll love it.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Swedish Crown recently. I understand that it has refocused its menu to feature Swedish specialities. Many other fine items are available as well. During Hyllningsfest, Lindsborg’s biannual celebration of Swedish culture, I ate at their buffet which featured the Swedish items, such as lamb stew, potato sausage and Swedish pancakes. All of their items are made in house, so I knew that it was fresh. After the festival, I enjoyed their Crown burger and chicken-fried steak. The burger was cooked through, but still juicy. It retired fresh lettuce, tomato and RED onion. Too many restaurant serve the inexpensive yellow onion, if at all. The cottage fries again are made in house and are delicious. The chicken-fried steak was served about five minutes after ordering. It arrived hot and stayed hot throughout the meal. I especially enjoyed the vegetables. Red peppers, green beans orange and YELLOW carrots! I simply cannot recall dining on yellow carrots at any restaurant, even the swankiest. The vegetables were as flavorful as they were colorful. To top off the meal, the lingonberry bread pudding was scrumptious. It was sweet, gooey and fruity. The large dollop of whipped cream was the real thing, not the ??-whip. Some diners may consider this meal expensive, but they would be sadly mistaken. One would be deluded to think that one could eat out for less money than eating at home. Dining out is for convenience, as in my case, or for a special occasion with a nice ambience. The Swedish Crown has this and more. The Swedish Crwn provides an excellent meal for the price. If younger traveling through central Kansas, please be sure to dine at the Swedish Crown. You will leave feeling like a(Vi)king!
