Driven by a bunch of times. Today I finally stopped and boy was it worth it! Had the Thai chicken tacos. Best tacos I’ve ever had. Each ingredient is so fresh and flavorful! Will be back to try more! You won’t be disappointed!

This little place is a GEM. We had the Thai tacos, the crab cake tacos, and my favorite, the short rib tacos. We will 100% be back. It is outside so be prepared for that.

5 start quality on the side of the road. You cannot pass up this place. If you do you’ll only be missing out on some amazing chicken, pork, or brisket tacos and sliders. We had a little but of everything and had wished we got more.

I’m a local, and this place is worth any drive. The best food in banner elk/​linville area hands down. The chicken burgers and the brisket are so scrumptious. Don’t be put off by the shack like building. I think that is part of the charm. I would say I eat here at least three times a week. The price is low, and the quality you get is more than worth it. EAT HERE! You won’t be sorry.

The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Chicken Salad Bowl with the Jerk seasoning! I was forewarned that it was really hot… but I like hot! It was really delicious and I will definitely order it again. If you are passing through Linville this is a must stop on your list!

Awesome food shack. Don’t go for appearance, food is just awesome! We were visiting blue ridge parkway and stopped by for food. Thai chicken tacos and chicken salad were delicious and cous cous salad as side was so fresh. Loved it!

Amazing! Artisan tacos right off grandfather mountain. My five year old and I split an order of chicken sliders, so jucey and flavorful. You like spice? Habanero mango sauce!

A real treat. You could easily drive by this place hidden by a rundown Citgo station. Don’t. An eclectic mix of tacos and sliders will await you and set you right for a trek up Grandfather Mountain.

So good we went back the next day! It’s casual, a food truck really, with a very cute sitting area outside and good mix of music. The food is WONDERFUL, if they run out of something it is because they are very busy and the food is very good, everything is excellent so it’s no loss, just try something else! I had the Thai chicken salad, twice. My husband the regular chicken salad. One day we split an order of brisket sliders, melt in your mouth delicious. Next day we split the pork tacos, yummy, but those brisket sliders should make them famous. All the food was extremely fresh and high quality. I have eaten at some fantastic food trucks in Charleston, SC and this food far exceeded those.
It was a bit hot the first day and I really preferred to eat somewhere inside, SO glad we didn’t. I will look forward to eating at The Roost every time we come up here.

We were on our way up to the Banner Elk area and was looking for something unique and authentic… if you are a food lover… this is a must place to stop by… we stopped at the Roost on our way up to Banner Elk and also on our way back home for a quick lunch… the Thai chicken tacos were amazing… just enough kick to make it super authentic… my husband had short ribs tacos and I liked his so much that on our second time I ordered the short ribs tacos on my second time there… we are planning to go back up to Banner Elk again in couple of weeks and the Roost is already on our to do list!!!

Found this little road side eatery on Unilocal while vacationing in the area around Linville, NC. Had to stop and try it. Had the BBQ Pork And Brisket Sliders. They were awesome. Highly recommend this place.

You cannot beat the roost for lunch! The chicken sliders are possibly the most delicious things I have ever eaten. The thai tacos are also not to be messed. All ingredients are so fresh and well prepared.

Artfully crafted, courteously served with speed and care. Absolutely delicious! We had the brisket tacos and loved them. They were out of the pork, so, apparently they do run out of stuff, from time to time. The custom condiments were nothing short of inspirational. It saddens me to know that I can’t eat there every day, as I live about 500 miles away!

Amazing food. We keep making excuses to drive 30 minutes to get to this place. The Thai chicken tacos are spicy and sweet and delicious and the jerk chicken tacos are even better. The owner is very friendly and the have picnic tables where you can eat. This place is perfect for a snack, after hike meal, or as a destination. They make everything fresh daily. They take cards if you are out of cash. Don’t forget to tip!

This place is great! My wife and I stopped here from a long trip hiking. Honestly I was expecting the usual, lots of promise and nothing in return. Lots of food in and around Boone is bland and boring. We were recommended a Japanese restaurant by two people. It was a glorified mall food court stir fry place at best. Really it is hard to get good food around here!!! Until now! Go to the roost! We had Thai tacos and chicken burger sliders. They were both amazing! I could have/​should have ordered a dozen. Seriously good.
Oh, I forgot to mention. They were playing epic metal while we were there. Something about spicy tacos and metal warms my heart! We will be going back! Soon!

Really good tacos. If you are within 60 miles of Linville and you like good short rib, shrimp, jerk chicken or brisket tacos YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! I could have sat there all day and ate tacos until I was sick, they are that good! I really wish we had tacos this good in Savannah, Ga.
