I went to a Oneness retreat here. The first time i stayed at Tall Oaks, I was 10, and had a broken foot. Not much has changed, but the foot isn’t broken any more, and the food was by far, the best retreat food I’ve ever eaten. I’ve stayed at week long hotels that weren’t as nice as this. The facility is clean, rustic looking, carpeted. There are rooms similar to hotel rooms. I gave this place 4 stars cause it was chilly cold in the conference room itself. When our first night’s meeting was finished, we went back to our room, and the staff had placed a space heater.(Ahhhh…) The bathrooms were small, with a shower and a toilet and sink. There’s also a sink outside the bathroom. The room had 2 twin beds and a bunk bed. There was a sheet and bedspread on the bed. I would’ve froze had it not been for bringing a heated throw. The meeting room is small and cozy, but chilly. There were smaller rooms as well, for small sessions. The dining facility is across the pathway. It is very nice. The food was outstanding: eggplant parmasean, chili, quiche, scones, biscuits and gravy, maple pepper bacon. The staff was very friendly. The surroundings, well, it’s a church camp. Lot’s of outdoors, and trees. Just outside of Bonner Springs.

Rustic setting but non-rustic accommodations(in the main lodge). Close to town but also out in the woods. Plenty of deep wood hiking trails to explore — watch out for ticks! The staff are incredible — friendly and there to serve.
