It may not be apparent from the outside but this place is a gem. My wife and I have eaten here several times and it consistently impressed us. Our young daughter loves the toys they have to play with. Mikes mad café has never let me down and I’m a picky about my eating establishments. Try it out you won’t be let down.

I hate giving a place a one star but I have to give an honest review about the food. This review was way after I ate there, so don’t know if they have the same cook. I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the regular breakfast of eggs, toast and hash and maybe something else on the plate but if there was I did not touch it. The potatoes were grey in color — grey, not white and crispy but grey and something else. The taste conjured up a vision of potatoes forgotten in the back of the fridge sitting in water but served anyway, otherwise you’d have to cut into a fresh potato. The eggs did not taste fresh. Fresh eggs taste sweet and the yolk is plump. These were flat and tasteless. Nothing on the plate was palatable. My friend also could not eat more than a couple of bites. The coffee was bitter. I was tempted to send the dish back, but I wanted no communication with a cook who served such a low quality plate of food. The consciousness was not going to be there. As we walked back to our car by stomach started to bloat and felt very dense. I had one final thought that the name of the diner was quite appropriate.

I love good diners and I’m an experienced aficionado, having eaten in diners all over the country. This place is great.

We live here and I think the food is great but i’ve noticed the last couple of years that the prices have gone up on the menu which might be expected but the portions of food have gone way down. Half of what they used to give you. My wife and I have been there once in the last year because of it. It sucks because we know all of the wait staff and enjoy conversing with them.

A warm welcome to Lisbon Falls and a great meal. Sat at the counter for a cheeseburger and fries and a bowl of «chowdah» — all tasty and well prepared. Sticky bun for desert accompanied by an enjoyable and wide-ranging conversation with Dr. Mike; he and his team made this diner aficionado feel right at home. Highly recommended!

Great greasy spoon atmosphere with good food and generous helpings. I ordered two pancakes not knowing that they would be larger than the plate! They’re fluffy and perfect. My husband ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy, and threw and egg on top biscuits are lovely gravy has good hearty flavor and the egg tied it all together. The hot bottomless coffee was perfect to sip as we let the enormous meal settle. My only complaint would be that the crowd was awfully small for a Saturday morning.

This place sounds like it would be a riot. In reality it’s a decent greasy spoon but not anything too crazy. We had breakfast my wife an omelet and I eggs over easy with hash. I will say that this was an average to above meal. food all tasted good. The service was spotty as we barely saw our waitress and she only brought half my order until I reminded her about the rest.

This place provides a solid and delicious breakfast. It’s a greasy spoon that you don’t have to dab with your napkin because they put too much cheese. For vegetarians, there isn’t much variety on the menu, but for meat-eaters, there are many more options. The staff are nice, and a man I presume to be Dr. Mike greets us every time.

Well unlike Martha, I hit the sausage place before I went to Mike’s. Having just moved to Maine, every stop is a new experience. From the outside it has the classic diner look, once inside it looked as though the remodeling never got finished and the floors could use a good scrub. Having said that, I agree with the previous reviewer in a diner like Dr. Mikes a cheeseburger says it all, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was made from a good quality meat, the bun was excellent, fries and onion rings were good and a local told me the dinners are great as well. All in all I recommended this place, dingy aestectics and all.

This somewhat retro diner in Lisbon Falls failed to have that«wow» factor. I had high hopes but left cold and dissatisfied. Very basic fare and questionable service. Obviously, the locals are welcomed with open arms but passers through are given the usual polite but distanced service. There seemed to be some discord among the servers and cooks which could explain the not-so-great breakfast. I was more curious about the store up the street that serves a variety of sausage products that seemed off-the-beaten path and beckoned for further exploration at a later date.

A true hometown diner. Dr Mike’s has the absolute best whoopie pies in the state and makes a perfect omlette every time. Don’t try to find something healthy on the menu. The closest I have been able to come is to order a side salad with salsa as a dressing and it was so not worth it. Go there with a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs meal in mind and go for it! the Elvis pancakes are heaven. Start your meal with a warmed biscuit with honey. so divine. there are very few choices in Lisbon Falls, but we’re glad that this is one of them.

Dr. Mike’s is one of the few dining options in Lisbon Falls, the town where I grew up. Even though I live just across the river, I rarely stop for food in Lisbon Falls; more often than not, I’m hurrying through for work, or on my way home. After running errands in a neighboring town and planning to hit a highly-recommended eatery that was closed for vacation(who the hell closes for vacation in the middle of July?), I was starved and passing through the Falls. Where to eat? Didn’t feel like hitting the chain sandwich shops that dot Route 196 entering town, I decided it was time to visit Dr. Mike’s again(the last time was probably four years ago after a photo shoot for my first Moxie book). Glad I did. It’s basic diner fare, so when in a diner, go with what you know works best – a basic cheeseburger and homemade onion rings. Great choice! Burger cooked perfectly, onion rings were very good, and even though I don’t make a habit of stopping by, I was made to feel like a regular. Heck, the young man cooking was someone that I once coached in Little League. The menu is extensive and I know the locals flock to Dr. Mike’s so I plan to stop back, and I’d recommend a visit when passing through Lisbon Falls.

Basic diner menu, however, almost every item on it is top notch fair. Especially, the biscuits that you should get grilled with some strawberry jelly. One of the only places in the mid-coast that is good just to get dessert with great cakes, pastries and bread pudding. The service is top notch in that friendly, how ya doin’ today way. Don’t be in a hurry, but well worth the wait.
