Favorite breakfast place in the Naperville area, we’ve been going here for 15 years. Our favorite breakfast is the grecian style skirt steak & eggs. No matter how long its been between visits, the owner remembers us. A classic! Wrote this review a few years back, so sorry they closed! Such a loss!

Oh Granny’s, what fond memories we have! I’ve been coming here for about 15 years, introduced probably every guy I’ve dated to their amazing breakfasts, made at least one stop here while on college breaks, and will continue coming back for as long as the doors are open and the trains run to Lisle. The food is great– classic Greek-owned greasy spoon diner, complete with a dining counter in back in back. As a foodie and a cook, I am a tough critic, yet I can safely say that there is not one bad item on the menu. And as such, I was horrified to find my favorite joint closed after 30 years. Please come back!

I had the gyro meat breakfast deal, and it was very good. They served it with tzatziki, which made it even better. The meal came with hashbrowns, pancakes, and coffee, all for $ 7 and change. If you’re in the neighborhood, I recommend it.

I’ve scoured the suburbs for breakfast joints and occasionally places sneak by right under my nose. Granny’s in Lisle is definitely one of those places, despite being nearby and having passed by hundreds of times I’ve never noticed this place was there. One morning I was looking for new places with the keyword of breakfast, searched this place out. With a name liked Granny’s I expected it to have some sort of theming possibly involving rocking chairs and gifts no one wanted. Instead, it’s actually just a very typical breakfast/diner. In looking over the menu, I decided on an aptly named«Hungry Man Skillet» being a very hungry man. I also chose to go with pancakes instead of toast. This skillet was huge and the portion size was enormous. The quality of the cheese was very high, the meat was tasty. Overall, I was impressed by the skillet, admittedly more for the quantity than the quality. The downside of this skillet was rather bland soft and mushy potato at the bottom that wasn’t very crisp or well seasoned. The pancakes here were fairly average and nothing super notable. The syrup was typically sugary maple syrup. Overall these were a nice compliment to the meal. My general opinion of Granny’s is that it’s an average breakfast place with some huge portion sizes. I’d recommend visiting here if you’re particularly hungry some morning and you’re looking for something that’s simply good, but not necessarily knock your socks off great. I’ll give it three stars for being average as it’s not quite high enough to round up to four. Nothing special about the service or food quality here, but huge portion sizes.

My rating is based on the service. I have been patronizing this business for 4 years. I like the food and the prices, but the waitstaff make assumptions about people of color, and I’ve grown tired of supporting this family owned establishment that subtly discriminates.

Now this place is old-school breakfast food in its most genuine form. Hours are from 7am-3pm, with a full breakfast menu and sandwich and burger choices for lunch. If you expect fancy décor, stylized service, and unique menu pairings, please find another place to eat. What you will find though, is a classic and true place to get a great breakfast. The décor is rather old and dated, worn out a bit, but kept pretty clean. The booths are rather small, so get a table if you want to be comfortable. Service here was great, with very pleasant and efficient career waitress who constantly keep you in coffee and Cokes. They seem to do a lot of repeat business, since the waitstaff and customers shared a first-name basis kind of camaraderie. I can tell why people return; the breakfast is solid and reasonably priced. Also, they have the best steak and eggs in the area. They do not fuss around with fancy cuts of meat; you get a huge and well-seasoned skirt steak cooked to your liking. That is what I’m looking for! Paired with a couple of over-easy eggs, and cottage cheese(large curd and served in an old-fashioned metal ice cream cup) subbed out for my potatoes, and I have reached a near-euphoric breakfast nirvana!

Pretty A-Ok. Standard diner fare. Service was great. Coffee never went empty. Burgers are a good size. Only downside was that since this place is on the smaller side, everytime the door opened, we felt a draft. Definitely sit as far away from the door as possible during the winter.

This is a nice, quiet dinner which we appreciated since we wanted to get away from the crowds. The service is great, with a smile and the food was good at decent prices.

We are local, Grannys is cheap, and we have many many good memories of going there when our daughter was very young and them always bringing out sliced peaches for her. Lately, we have had quite a few mediocre meals followed up by a bad one. It has seemed that this place has been going down for some time, and has now crossed the threshold of tolerable and tumbled into the abyss. It is true that their portions are huge, but it is now my suspicion that they are just trying to get the food out before it rots. I had my last chicken caeser salad there and they put an unusually large amount of dressing on this thing. The lettuce was soggy, but no worse than usual, but what got me is that the chicken was cold. It looked like it had a line of pink in the middle too, but with the massive amount of dressing it was hard to determine. I ate it and later paid the price. Sorry Granny, you get me sick, im never ever coming back.

This place is decent, definitely nothing special. Came here with my girlfriend she had the potato pancakes which seemed like they came out of a freezer bag. I had a Texas omelette, again nothing special and came with what seemed to be tostitos salsa. The place is certainly priced after the quality, cheap. I wanted to like this and maybe just got the wrong thing but breakfast is breakfast and is hard to screw up. Granny’s would probably be great on a hangover, otherwise not a place I’d come back to.

Good, fairly cheap breakfast in a diner-like atmosphere. You won’t leave hungry, that’s for sure!

THE best breakfast place in DuPage County… period. Pancakes are great. Waffles, too. The hash-browns…one of my breakfast measuring sticks… are superb. But, the crown jewel is Granny’s skirt steak, as enjoyed in the Skirt Steak and Eggs breakfast. In the dozens of times I’ve had Skirt Steak and Eggs at Granny’s, each one has been the best skirt steak ever… consistently amazing. Nothing special about the décor or menu selections. it’s a Greek family restaurant. But, the skirt steak? Wow!

6AM-3PM is just enough time to stop in and enjoy breakfast and or lunch. For the record their Patty Melt and Cheeseburger patties are HUGE! I am mean juicy and plump. Definitely worth the $$$. As usual when you order the deluxe sandwich a nice cup of homemade soup is served with all orders. The french fries are sort of a Cajun crispy style and fabulous! Be sure to check out the daily specials in the menu, usually they will save you money during lunch hour. You do feel the small ma’ and pop vibe at Granny’s, which always makes for a quality dining experience.

It’s just a great breakfast diner, and the best place to fall in love with Greek omelets.

This place is always packed on weekends — but I didn’t see why. The menu didn’t have a whole lot of choices that looked appealing to me; I settled for an Athenian Omelet that was okay. The side of bacon that I ordered along with it was overcooked and the Iced Tea tasted like it came out of a bottle. The server was nice enough — but I probably wouldn’t go back to this place. There are too many great breakfast places in the area.
