As a longtime Lisle resident, I appreciate all of the activities and functions our Park District offers our community. I appreciate the ease of sign-up, the paper and web-based information, flexibility with scheduling options, diverse offerings, and commitment to reflection in making improvements. Thank you!

My husband and I were there for a family picnic, my grandson who is 7 years old ask the attendant at the pool«Could seniors with actual clothes could come in to the pool area and watch him», he was told yes they could. So it is after 5:00 pm he is in there for the last few minutes of the day and we went up and asked the young man if we could go in for a few minutes to watch my grandson. We were told it is $ 4.00 for senior residents. I told him that I knew Lisle residents as we were there at a family picnic. I said that we only wanted to watch him for a few minutes at best. His response was $ 4.00 for senior residents. Yes, I became a little angry and did not ask what the price would be for a senior from of all places the City of Chicago would pay. I wonder if this young man had ever been to Lincoln Park(free to all) or if anyone from Lisle attended the Air and Water Show over the weekend? I would think so. It of course was not the price(again not really sure what it would have been for us city folks) but we honestly were only going to stay 10 minutes at best! People talk about Lisle being somewhat snooty, I thought it was mostly Naperville, but I guess not!

One of the many things that interested me in Lisle was the park district, and what they have to offer. This park district offers more than any park district that I’ve lived in both in the city and suburbs. Community Park is within the Lisle Park District and it’s just beautiful and scenic and the best place in the area to just walk through. Every season a flyer goes out to residents in the area, and some activities are partnered with surrounding suburbs such as Downers Grove and Woodridge. They offer events for all ages such as a shredding event in the spring where residents and others can bring all their paperwork saved from the past year to get shredded all at once. There are also movies in the park in the summer, and the Eyes to the Skies fest every July which is by far the best carnival/fest I’ve been to in Illinois! Within the Park District is also Community Park Fitness — a small fitness facility which I belonged to for a few years with cardio and weight machines. There are also a number of fitness classes offered(some which I’ve taken) and Personal Training. The Park District is also affiliated with River Bend Golf Club — there are leagues and lessons offered through there. Also on the grounds of the park is Sea Lion Aquatic Park — pools, water slides, etc. There are daily admission fees and season passes you can buy for the pool here. They also offer swim lessons. There is Preschool offered and camp in the summer for kids, as well as other activities like dance and art classes. There are youth programs, sports programs, lessons, and after school programs offered as well. For adults in addition to fitness classes, there are all kinds of one day classes and things to sign up for such as computer classes, softball leagues, and more. For ages 50+ there are activities every day of the week and outings offered, such as baseball games and day trips. There are special 50+ fitness classes too. You name it… this park has it, so check it out sometime!
