There should be another $ up there — we expect to pay more for services in Litchfield, but our bill was exactly this: 2 appetizers 1 kids meal 1 pasta special 1 small white pizza and the bill was $ 155 … no alcohol, actually we drank water so no beverages at all. Apps were good but so small my husband was joking about eating the garnish. The kids meal was good for my kid, pasta with butter. The pasta special was fettucine carbonara, which was good. The white pizza had so much garlic on it we could not eat it, took it home and added tomatoes to cut the garlic, but still no good. Our waitress was nice. Walking in and out of the place we had to plow through a gathering of all the wait staff and bus staff who were not yet assigned to a table, hanging out at the hostess podium, tacky. Which was weird because the parking lot was chock-full yet there were no patrons really except ¾ other tables. The review above is for the Litchfield location only, the Avon location is completely different feel and frankly the food was much better!

I had dinner here tonight and it was fantastic. I ordered the chicken Marsala it was to die for and the portions are huge so come hungry. My server Miguel was friendly and knowledgable. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I absolutely love the Classico panini and house salad! Waiters are always very timely and friendly. Would recommend 10⁄10

Best white pizza! Mozzarella, fresh basil, garlic and tomatoes. We can’t seem to ever get past the pizza. Accompanied with a Caesar salad is the perfect lunch. Yummy!

Do not get takeout from this place. They give you a horribly packaged, minimal sized, overpriced excuse for Italian food. I used to give this place the benefit of the doubt because of its location but I have been let down too many times. I will be giving first and last my business from now on.

Tried it, nothing special here. Won’t go back. Service average, food too salty and mediocre. House wine overpriced. And don’t entrees usually come with a salad or soup? Not here.

Our party of six collectively had a very disappointing dining experience at Da Capo. Three meals were decent, one mediocre and the two linguini with clams were a pathetic excuse for a meal. The clams were barely warm and there might have been a dozen strands of linguini in each plate(if that). When our concern was expressed with an employee, we received a blank stare. Our request for more dinner rolls was ignored. Apparently our waitress’s shift ended during our meal and we had to seek out an employee to get our check. When she brought the check, we received 4 complimentary desserts, which we thought was a thoughtful gesture to help make up for our negative experience. However, it turned out to be a standard practice at the facility. Our visit was a waste of money, unpleasant and not worthy of a return visit. D.R.

Food was great, however we were rushed the entire time and treated like we were trashy. Not appreciated on my fiancée birthday when we both work hard and I work in the service industry myself. Just wanted to enjoy a nice night out. We will go somewhere else next time.

If you order a large salad you better bring your whole village with you to eat it they are huge! Great food. Nice atmosphere. Unique selection of appetizers and salads as well as pizza!

Love da Capo’s! Great food, excellent choice of specialty salads with specialty dressings. Large portion sizes. Nice window views. Great for small or large parties, but rarely fast. Nice place to eat and socialize. Decent prices. Nice atmosphere. A step up from casual, but not turned away after hiking.

I LOVED da capo… Since they’ve changed owners things have changed. Went recently…(Among other times) and one thing I used to love about da capo. Was their consistency. The food ALWAYS tasted the same… In a great way! Now… The food tastes different every time. And last time I was there… My food was ok but over dressed. The staff was attentive and nice but kind of inappropriate with other clientele to where I felt«grossed out» at a couple points. I feel like that wouldn’t have happened under previous management. I want the best for da capo!!! Hope they can work it out.

I made reservations for my husband’s birthday dinner on the off chance of the restaurant being busy. We were seated with a wonderful view of the kitchen and men’s room. :(although other tables were available. The food was great. We ordered the family size salad for the six of us. It was amazing. The server was informative and helpful. Over all great experience except for where we were seated.

It is with sadness that I write this mostly negative review. We’ve been to this location about 15+ times in the last few years and have watched a slow, but sure decline on several fronts. Last night was our last visit. The food here is good(for the area) and affordably priced(considering the large portions) — just don’t order any alcohol because it is outrageous(last night I ordered a glass of house wine… it was $ 9 — that’s just crazy). My husband has very specific food allergies. At a quality establishment, we have no problems, but at daCapo, the last three times we’ve had to send things back due to failure of the waitstaff to communicate to the chef. We decided to try one more time and ordered him a cheese-less pizza. We even went to the extreme of saying no parmesan, no romano, no mozzarella… and out came his pizza covered in cheese. It also came about 10 minutes after my meal, making a re-do out of the question. They were nice enough not to charge us, but it is clear they just can’t take a specific order. If you order off the menu, no alterations, you’re probably going to be fine. The restaurant is always busy and loud, so if you’re looking for a romantic night out — don’t bother. See ya, daCapo. It’s been real.

If you’re not happy, Da Capo isn’t happy– BESTCUSTOMERSERVICEWITHDETAIL — I go out too much not to know this restaurant is number one in consistency, not only in great food(great portions — great service) but that they love a happy crowd and keep attracting daily– glad they’re in my town for many reasons– a classy local place with genuine good service! Handicap friendly too which is a needed thing in this area–

I’ve been to Da Capo several times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is warm and inviting — the brick ovens and pizza makers are on full display in the main dining room which is fun to watch while you wait for your food. I’ve had pizza, pasta and meat entrees here — all have been delicious — with huge portions! Definitely the kind of restaurant you go to and not only get dinner, but lunch for the next day. I highly recommend the ‘Chips’ appetizer — thinly sliced and fried eggplant and zucchini chips with yogurt dipping sauce. The breading is light and crispy and it’s not overly fried or greasy. The Ruby and Ultimate Dirty Martini are excellent drink options as well. Recently had my birthday dinner here — can’t wait to go back.

This has become our go to Italian in the area. We only really come for certain dishes here, like their cheese ravioli(not on the menu)…which is stuffed with cheese! There’s one server we really like there, but then there’s one that always seems to ignore us every time we’re there. I don’t know if it’s b/c we look young compared to most of the diners(does she assume we won’t be a good tipper) or what but it always rubs us the wrong way when we get here… and she generally messes up our order(she lacks attention to detail). Anyway, it’s not enough to keep us away, but it does have us visit other restaurants in the area as well vs. just go here more often.

We’ve eaten here and have gotten take out probably over half a dozen times. A bit pricey for some meals. Had buccatini with meatballs. Meatballs TOTALLY lacked ANY seasoning. Pizz as are good. One time ordered take out. they messed orders up and didnt have any food ready. Had to wait 20+ minutes and wasnt comped anything. have mixed feelings. its our local place to hit occasionally, Our go to italian, hands down, never had a bad meal is Roma in Oakville. Cant even compare.

I’ve tried 2 salads — both fantastic. Calamari is yummy. Not a fan of the lobster roll though. De Capo does not dissapoint when it comes to salads and pizza. Note: salads are RIDICULOUSLY large so be prepared to share or be too full for the rest of your meal.

Wow. What an impressive eatery tucked into a grassy nook on the road between Torrington and Litchfield! Da Capo is a friendly, authentic feeling Italian restaurant with a gorgeous patio surrounded by manicured gardens. They boast simple and delicious Italian fare: Huge salads, home made soups and appetizers(you should see the plate of steamed muscles– holy cow!), brick oven pizzas, and hearty, beautiful Italian entrees. They use fresh, local ingredients whenever possible and have an excellent wine list! My friend and i split an amazing salad(big enough for three, by the way) which consisted of field greens, olives, roasted red pepper, artichokes, local, fresh mozzarella, and polenta croutons in a white balsamic vinaigrette. It was absolutely delicious and the portion was HUGE. The croutons were a real treat, crispy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. Such a cool concept and the best croûton I have ever had! In addition to the salad, I also had a cup of their pasta fagioli– one of my favorite foods. Let me start by saying that the«cup» was bigger than most«bowls» of soup I have ordered. I cannot imagine how big the soup bowl must be! It was a delicious tomato-based broth chuck full of white beans, carrots, tomato, ditalini, and chunks of panchetta. It was heavenly delicious with a generous sprinkling of Parmesan! We had some wine and a round of iced teas to boot– and the whole bill was less than $ 25.00. I was shocked at how delicious the food was and how inexpensively priced it was! It has instantly become my favorite resturant in Torrington/Litchfield beating out At the Corner, my previous favorite, for the ambiance, price and great staff! Bellissimo!
