I wrote a bad review of this Inn a year and a half ago. I was thinking of trying it again, looked on Unilocal, and my review is GONE. How did that happen?

Updated: Now that I am well rested and I have seen the room by daylight, I see that the room was never fully vaccuumed. The doors to the unoccupied rooms are all open to show off the newly remodeled rooms which just further illuminates the fact that I am in an old room. I believe I am paying full price as well(to be staying in an old, unrennovated, room). Am I comfortable… yes, but this room was waaaaaaay dirtier then I thought. Also, this evening(Wednesday) the evening entertainment has become and I can hear the music clearly from my second floor room. Joy. Original: Well, I have checked in, ordered room service and am now finishing a lovely banana crème brule with a glass of wine. My kid is sound asleep, I am on screaming fast wifi(accessing my computer from home using some heavy programs) and watching Skyfall. My room is clean, neat, large with a couple minor scuffs and hiccups that come with an old building that is used as a hotel. The lobby was gorgeous, my bathroom was well stocked. If I had any complaint, it would be that the free water provided in room(this is a small complaint) was a larger bottle and not a mini, or that the water is dealt with because the dial was all the way to hot and was at best luke warm. Might be different tomorrow if I get up earlier I’ll bet.

My Wife, daughter and I recently stayed two nights with the Litchfield Inn. I am originally from Litchfield county. I moved out of state 7 years ago. This was my first visit back in over 5 years. We chose to stay with the Inn due to my memories of it being one of the nicer places in the area. It resulted in mixed feeling though. The check in: Check in was quick and painless. Receptionist was friendly and informed us of the weekends entertainment and continental breakfast offerings. The Room: our room was on the second floor and to the very rear of the Inn. It was a long distance back but I assumed they were rooming people in that section due to some of the renovations that were being done at the front. The room was nice with lots of new upgrades, including most of the bathroom, sink, flat screen TV and some of the furniture. The pull out couch was terribly uncomfortable and the A.C. Unit when turned on was very loud and vibrated. I chose not to use it. My biggest complaint was of a very obvious stain on a chair in our room that clearly was exactly what I thought it was!(think male body fluid). I notfied the front desk girl and turned the chair around so my wife and child would not sit in it. The desk girl said«I’ll make a note of it in our system» instead of sending someone to remove it or clean it. The next day after room service we found the chair moved back to it’s original location and not cleaned. The rest was the room was cleaned and nice. The Breakfast: Bottom line_____It SUCKED!!! We showed up right in the middle of serving time so the quality of the food is not excusable. Dried up waffles and no syrup at all. We ask if they forgot to bring it out. Answer; we don’t have any but you can use jelly packs. Wtf! Behind the front desk they sell real maple syrup! The Inn could buy a bottle from themselves to ensure there paying costumers have some syrup with their dried up waffle. The egg dish they offered was so dry and burnt I could not eat a bite of it. I’m not sure what they were thinking when they served this crap. Every person in there was of the same belief. Sausage and bacon was good. Day two we chose to go buy breakfast rather than eat that food for free. The lobby and sitting room(downstairs): both nice and well kept. Business center was nice as well. The gym was better than nothing but very small and limited equipment. Dumbbells max out at 25 lbs. some treadmills… But again i like that they have something. Entrance: clean up the nasty ciggs! It’s gross. Improvements are clearly being made but some services need to be payed better attention too.

The inn was very pretty and our room was remodeled. However the water in the shower was lukewarm at best. After a day in the snow a cool shower was not pleasant. We also had to pay $ 3 for toothpaste. The service at the restaurant was also poor. Chaotic would be the best word. The food was good but we did not feel like a «guest». We felt like we were inconveniencing the staff here. Not the best feeling!

I got married there in June 2013 and though it was a bit of a rough road getting there, with lots of management changes and broken promises, they pulled together an amazing day. I would recommend this to any one looking for a personal wedding with great food and the ability to have an entire venue to yourself. With a small number of rooms we were able to room block the entire hotel and got the run of the place from friday-saturday night. They also kept the bar open for us for the after party and provided late night catering for our guests. When we first booked we were promised a total overhaul of the ballroom and landscaping. I will say most of that did not get done till last minute(like 2 weeks before the wedding), but once done it all turned out great. Also, the food here is amazing, all our guest raved about it, and through it was not as good as our tasting it was still pretty amazing! They also provided a lot of extra h’orderves at no extra charge. Lastly they are very reasonably priced, especially when compared to Winvian or the other specialty location in the area.

I’ve stayed here a couple times and it’s ok if all you need is a place to sleep. Looks charming/rustic. Wouldn’t expect much in the way of service. I recently made a same-day reservation an hour before their cancellation cutoff time and called a few hours later to cancel. I thought they’d either waive the charge or at least some portion of it since they had plenty of unbooked rooms and likely didn’t miss out on someone else taking the room. However the woman I spoke to when I called to cancel and ask for consideration on the charge(given the timing) was pretty dismissive. I called again today to follow up and got the same response. Wish they applied the same discipline to service as they do to their charge policies.

My family went here for Easter brunch. The setting is lovely But the service was lost nonexistent. We literally had to find out own salt and pepper shakers, find a water pitcher and fill our glasses, and it wasn’t just our part… This was what we witnessed at every table. The buffet line was poorly designed, causing people to stand in line for extended periods of time. The guy working the carving station was also responsible for making pancakes, which was too much for one person to handle given the volume of customers. On every level, there was not enough waitstaff. In addition, the only dessert offerings were brownies and rice crispy treats. Kinda odd for a $ 40 holiday buffet. Having said that, the food we actually ate was exceptional. But unless the service improves, I would not consider going back.

This hotel really is a fine establishment. The staff was excellent, attentive, friendly and courteous. The best thing about this hotel is that it is a gauge free zone. There are complimentary water bottles in the room, complimentary coffee in the room, bath robes, refrigerator, flat screen TV and a microwave. The renovated part of the hotel is where my girlfriend and I stayed and it was spectacular, especially for the price. It just goes to show everyone once again that big chain hotels and many other hotels kill you on every last thing for no good reason. We felt welcomed at The Litchfield Inn and they didn’t knock us over the head. Great experience and will stay again if I am in the area.

I used to live in town and The Litchfield Inn has always been a bit of a wreck in terms of staff and service. We were thinking of having a number of friends gather to celebrate a birthday, but after several days of attempting to get someone on the phone to talk us through our options and getting hung up on several times, getting an answering machine, and finally a person — who told us to call back — we said forget it and went somewhere else. Perhaps they are performing upgrades to the interior, but the staff is still a problem. Buyer beware. If you have to put some people up — look in Torrington — it’s only 15 minutes away and Waterbury about 30. There are also several nice event locations in the area.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Litchfield Inn on a Travel Zoo sale and were very pleased with our stay. The recent renovations at the Inn are beautiful with an elegant foyer with marble floors and an inviting common room with fireplace, comfortable and lovely furniture in two seating areas, a large flat screen TV and books available for your reading pleasure. The chandelier in the foyer is magnificent, there is an elegant cooler of flavored water(cucumber slices one time, lemon another) available, and a graceful curved staircase to the second floor with an old-fashioned carriage filling the area under the staircase as decoration. Bantam Bistro is directly off the lobby. Our room was on the second floor in what appears to be an addition to the original main building. We had a L-shaped deluxe King room and it was huge! The king-size bed was comfortable, had lovely bedding and plenty of pillow and looked inviting when we walked in. There was a small flat-screen TV for use from the bed, and then a couch and larger flat-screen TV in the L-section of the room. Three large windows faced the unpaved and wooded side of the parking lot so the view was decent. The windows opened and we enjoyed the fresh air in our room. We had a small refrigerator and microwave and plushy terry robes in the closet. The extra blanket we requested was promptly delivered. The bathroom amenities included spa-style soaps and creams. The sink was a raised, modern bowl and faucet — a nice touch that looked very fresh and trendy. The alarm clock was an iPhone docking station with a USB port for plugging in a tablet or other device. The whole room looked new, fresh, and recently updated; we were very pleased with our accommodations. In fact, my only complaint is that the free Wi-Fi didn’t quite make it to our room at the end of the hall and most of the time we had no connection, and when we did, it was very poor. The Wi-Fi was fine in the main part of the building and even down the hall in the small seating area off the stairs, but it was frustrating to not be able to use my laptop in my room. This Inn is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway or if you need a comfortable place to stay in the Litchfield area. I’d recommend it.

August 2012. This place is a disaster. To begin with, do not believe their website. 32″ flat screen, high count thread sheets, microwave, ergonomic chair, pillow-top mattress, desk? Not one in sight in our room. Rather, a smoky, stale room, aging television(the primary palette of which was pink), non-functioning remote, threadbare synthetic sheets, an ironing board cover that looked as though a child was nauseous on it, and plug-in fireplace. Nice. Litchfield? Think Yonkers(with all due respect to Yonkers). We left at 9:30a this morning, and returned at 10:50p to find our room had not been made up. When the Front Desk was approached, the response was, «We were busy today, and the maids leave at 4.00p. I guess they didn’t have a chance to get to your room.» Oh. Really? That’s a bit disappointing. Can we get a drink? «No, we’re closed. The bistro closes when the last person leaves.» But we’re here. «We’re closed.» The idea of customer service doesn’t seem widely socialized here. Four staff members were clustered at the Front Desk this morning, trading stories, while the flowers in front of the front door were dying from lack of water. Few seem really focused on hospitality, or on delivery of a great product. We did have a pleasant time in the bar last evening, but the goodwill generated by the two women working last night was rapidly dissipated by the lack of execution and indifference of today. Try somewhere else.

You know what, between the Winvian and Mayflower Inn charging $ 700-$ 1200 a night for a basic room — The Litchfield Inn is ideal if you’re like us, visiting friends, hanging out at their house, going out to eat but you like to always stay at a hotel. For $ 200 and change we got the Lady Agnew Suite. Subtle(emphasis on subtle) throwback to an era when brass beds and matching drapes and sheets in purple were oh-so-stylin’. The room was very clean and had a working fireplace. Nice. Right? One thing though, the TV was so dated(think cube shape) and small and so far away from the bed you had to take a cab to it to even hear anything. Weird! And again, I am one of the people that just sleep in the room but you got to have the TV on to remind you that it’s even a room sometimes. So TV needs to be updated STAT. We have not tried the restaurant so I can’t comment on it but our friends who live close by enjoy the bar and the food. Next time.

Stayed at this hotel recently for an athletic event in the area. is your typical rustic stay but friendly staff and all else won’t hurt you. the service went above and beyond as my daughter left behind a stuffed animal in the room and amy called the next day to say they located the item and will ship to my home. now that’s what i call ‘above and beyond’…thanks amy!
