The Southern Barn at Lonesome G Ranch

I recently had my wedding at the Southern Barn. The venue was absolutely stunning, and we received compliments from all of our guests. The staff at The Southern Barn, however, was less than enjoyable to work with. Although their paperwork claims they have unlimited communication and assist with planning the wedding, they did not follow through with this over the past year. They only meet with you twice during the planning: once 6 months out and once a month before the wedding. We were never even able to see the optional decorations or table settings or placement of items until 1 month before the wedding. Most things in wedding world must be done before this point. In addition, over 7 emails throughout the year went unanswered, and I had to resort to resending other emails several times before I got a response. I had numerous calls unreturned and excuses like broken phones as a reason for this lack of communication. Although they say there are 5 women helping coordinate your wedding, the only time you will meet all 5 is on your wedding day. They did not allow us to come up to see the venue when it was requested to show our families. They canceled meetings we had scheduled a month in advance. They charged additional fees the week of the wedding which were never mentioned in our final meeting a week earlier. Their paperwork does not address prices over 200 people, but for four additional people we were charged over $ 450. When we addressed our concerns with them, we received generic responses back which they send to all brides. On our wedding day, they had a sheriff and a sheriff’s truck out front of the venue. We were never told about a sheriff being there, and as you can only imagine, it intimidated some guests who had the option of open bar. We did provide charter bus transportation for our guests, but it still made some people feel awkward and uncomfortable. The venue is stunning, which made our wedding beautiful and the companies they work with catering, florals, desserts were great, but you have to weigh the communication and help you need planning to make this decision. I feel it was overpriced for the amount of service we were actually provided throughout the year and feel very disappointed in their professionalism and dedication to wedding planning.
