Wayback Burgers

I was debating between a publix sub or a burger. I chose the burger since I have not been to Way back Burgers as a new resident and was not disappointed. I ordered the classic combo between 11 – 3. Came fully loaded (2 patties) with tons of fries and a soda. The burger was fresh and juicy. $ 7.99 special with tax, $ 8.55. Without a doubt better than McDonald’s or Burger King. Next time I will bring the family.

I ordered the cheesy and it was BOGO. The shakes are awesome. Will be back really soon

I love burgers. I’m also from a city where an average burger joint just doesn’t last. This burger — definitely average. Absolutely nothing special.
Value:
Incredibly over-​priced for the quality. Although I would say that it competes with local restaurants like it.
Food:
As I mentioned above, it is a completely average burger. Nothing to write home about but also nothing to puke at.
I enjoyed the fries but it’s pretty difficult to screw those up.
Service/​Concept:
Very well executed fast-​casual concept. I enjoyed the overall atmosphere here. Very well maintained restaurant. Bathrooms are clean. Lobby/​dining area are clean. Kitchen is open to view and is also clean and well-​maintained although when you have an open-​kitchen, I’d hope it’s well-​kept. Service is average for a fast-​casual place.

Here’s my ping-​pong review score, back up to four stars.
Burgers are still very good, everything is fresh and tasty. The other things I was (as a fat white privileged dad) complaining about have mostly been dealt with. Come on Tuesdays if you have kids, and lunch during the rest of the week.

So why five stars?
1. The quality of the food is great. It’s a burger place and their hamburgers taste great. I like their fries; I rarely get let down by their fries since they are consistently served hot. As an alternate to the fries you can get «fresh made» chips. I often go with the chips because they are «that good» but I may also eat some of my son’s fries as well
2. I go out to eat a lot, but when I do I don’t like to pay a lot of money for hamburgers for my family of six. I can go to Wayback Burgers for $ 35 for what would cost me $ 70 (with tip) at other places. If you live in and around Fishhawk, or are passing through the neighborhood, you have a premium hamburger place in the Publix plaza; you don’t have to drive to Brandon.
3. Now Wayback is not exactly a «sit down» restaurant or a «fast food» restaurant; it is not suppose to be. It will take «a little longer» to get your food than say McDonalds, but that’s a good thing. Also, you may not get all the «love and attention» tableside like a great sit down restaurant but that’s not what kind of restaurant Wayback Burgers is.
4. Other factors. My three year old son likes the hotdogs. I can eat out side and their tables have shades. Wayback has WIFI. Wayback has amazing shakes. Wayback has beer. Wayback has a discount for Military and has great promotions. Wayback is also a major supporter of our local Fishhawk community.

The place is pretty tasty. Burgers are good. Fries are ok. It seems a little pricey for a burger, but for the taste I give it 4 starts.

Horrible! My hamburger was cold and the patty was so small. I threw most of it away. I’d rather go to mcdonalds especially considering the cost.

Our first visit here now that they have gluten free Udi’s buns. The burgers were pretty good and seemed similar to Steak n Shake to me. The fries were nice and crunchy, plus they also have beer on tap. He kids really liked the fried mac n cheese and the onion rings passed the kid test. Service was a little rough but the manager of the night shift did everything he could to accommodate us, including a free upgrade to a large onion ring because we waited a couple minutes longer than expected. Overall, the food was good enough for us to consider another visit.

Burgers are good. Fries and chic nuggets are straight out of the Sysco food truck. Cheese fries had little flavor. Staff seems good but I think they lost whatever put them in business back 1991. Too expensive to boot

Milkshakes are amazing, but that’s the only thing that shines. The burgers are ok but over priced. French fries are supposed to be from real potatoes yet something seems off about them especially their texture when you chew them. TLDR: come for the milkshakes, go elsewhere for burgers and fries

We have eaten here a half dozen times each time expecting it to be a better experience. The burgers and shakes are good but It’s the service that always falls short, which is a shame. Today our cashier took a phone call in the middle of taking our order making us wait for about 5 mins before another employee came to finish our order. We were the only customers in the restaurant but several tables were dirty and the floor was in desperate need of a sweep. I really wish this place would get it together.

Very average burger, service was horrible, employees walking all around the tiny kitchen eating and drinking. One employee had grabbed some fries bare handed.

Well on this particular day they earned points for having curbside pickup. I had been cleaning all & doing laundry all day & did not feel like ‘sprucing up’ just because I was hungry. I felt so lazy but was so glad they had the option. When you pull up to the curbside spots, you just call the number on the sign & they bring your order out to you.
I ordered a patty melt & onion rings with an Oreo Chocolate shake. Bad I know, but actually it was really good. My order was correct & that gets them 5 stars this time. I will go back again.
They had a really nice outdoor seating area which I looked like where I might like to enjoy my meal the next time I stop by.

One of the best burgers in the Brandon area. And very good fries, too. They will often let adults order from the children’s menu, which gives plenty of food.

Ouch — overpriced burger place. I hate to give a bad review but when my kids wouldn’t even eat the bland French fries there’s a problem. There wasn’t any salt on the fries. The burger of the month, Bacon Ranch Burger on a pretzel bun, was good but for $ 7.29 and then another $ 4 for fries & a drink… It was definitely not an $ 11 meal. Beers are $ 3.99. My single burger $ 5.04 & onion rings $ 4.99 was not worth the price tag. The onion rings were bland, boring & no dipping sauce.
The chocolate milk shake was good & a large portion. Thank god it was kids eat free night or it would’ve been a $ 40 night and not worth it! I appreciate a good fresh burger but these were lame. We were visiting from out of town and definitely wouldn’t go back. The cashier was impatient as if we were in a huge rush yet there was no one behind me in line. Surprised they don’t have a blue cheese burger.

Good burgers. No complaints. It was just a bit pricy to feed our family with 3 kids but the value is very good. The burgers are huge and yummy.

The food is amazing! The evening staff is fantastic! Great service from Allison and Jordan! If you like great burgers you must stop by!

Burgers were not bad, but the service and speed of delivery could really use some improvement.
We went during what you would think are peak Saturday hours and there was no clear leadership or management running the show. During this time we heard two couples both send their food back as the toppings were incorrect.
We then ran into our own problems when we ordered a milkshake on the way out. It took fifteen minutes per the time stamp on the order slip — the server then bickered with me that it had only been five minutes after I asked the second time for my order.
Food was good, but pay for some leadership to help on the delivery side

We placed an order by phone and when we got there, they said they didn’t get an order. Then they said they would bring it to the car and never did. We found it sitting at the counter. Let’s not even talk about how disgusting the chicken sandwich is

On the plus side, food came out pretty quickly.
On the negative, food was just ‘meh’. I’ve had better burgers and so have you. The onion rings were decent but the buffalo chicken was not great…
Same-​sorta concept as a 5-​Guys but with more offerings. You walk up, place your order with a cashier, and sit down. They call you up, you pick up your food. That’s the play-by-play.it’s not a restaurant in the sense of servers on staff. If you want a quick burger that tastes better than fast-​food but don’t want to pay sit-​down restaurant prices, try it out.
