Worst experience. Waited 2 hours for my appetizer, and the lettuce underneath was brown. About 30 minutes later, I received my omelette and hash browns. The hash browns were cold, and my second batch had not a single grain of salt. The eggs were clearly cooked separate, and it was also cold. Once again, nothing had flavor. To top it all off, I never received a refill on my drink. Horrible experience.

The quality of the food was not what I’m used to. The server was very nice, but not very attentive.

My husband and I visited this location after driving cross country. We told the hostess that our order was going to be to-go and placed it after viewing the menus about 10−15mins. Another server/hostess came and repeated our order, then told us to wait one minute while she walked towards the back. She returned and gave us a price off the top of her head and then said«I mean $ 34.xx.» We included a $ 5 tip and proceeded to wait. About thirty minutes later, the first server came and told us that it would be «an additional 10mins for the macaroni-is that okay?» We had already waited forever so we told her to just change the side to sweet potatoes. About 15mins later they brought our food out and I did not realize until I got to my hotel that they did not include the meal with the sweet potatoes(we ordered three meals). Too tired to drive back I called several times but no one answered. The next day I went back to do a formal complaint with the manager but he was not available. The same server was there and I watched her walk past the phone when someone yelled for her to answer it. The only reason this place got one star is because of the taste of my blackened salmon. Then again, I may have just been hungry. The price was not worth the portion nor was the taste worth the overall experience. I will not be returning. There’s absolutely no reason we should have waited that long considering there were two small parties that arrived after us. Prior to us walking in the entire restaurant was empty which is usually a bad sign. There was another customer who called her order in and she still had to wait about 20 minutes.

Honest review of this establishment, Ive heard such great things about. So my hubby and I decided to stop passing thru Lithonia, GA. We entered into the restuarant approx 11:30 am only a few people were inside eating, I jus figured well kinda of early and location. The waiter, stares at us and ask are U all together, of course we are standing side by side(husband is another race of course. He still doesnt seem to get that we are together, then he ask us if we want to be seated, Wow unbelievable! Lithonia Lithonia U must get it together we are in the 20th century… Now we are seated the waitress was very nice and friendly, order was taken promptly. Appetizer and food came out at same time, hmmmm whats the point in ordering a appetizer right??? Ok now the eatin part– food was hot and had a fair taste, nothing fancy or exciting, but it had a descent taste for southern food. Lemonade also had a great taste, dont wannna leave anything pertinent out. 1hr later we get ready to pay for our food and what comes crawling across the table a ROACH, yes folks ROACHES. I jump up from the table and tell the waitress she kills the roach with a cup, she acts like this is a everyday occurrence, not excited at all, she does apologize tho. We pat for our food and I call back to speak to the managers neither one of them acted as if they even cared and NEVER apologized once. One manager told me to call corporate if I had any complaints and that the bug guy sprayed last night. So if he sprayed last night and we are eating in the restaurant the next say… Im confused to say the least. He even told me that Ms Gladys was in Vegas working if I wanted to contact her. My next question for him was«What is your state score he stated 84%», again WOW and WOW!!! This info was not posted on the wall, I wonder why? I jus cant, no more Lithonia for me and the family. Yes Im emailing corporate and whomever else cares. I expect more than this from a Gladys Knight– Winan– franchise or maybe Im asking a little to much in a food establishment. I literally got into my truck feeling like I had bugs crawling on me, I dump my purse on the ground outside to make sure they were not in my purse. Im so done… Complete FAILURE not ACCEPTABLE. I have the waiters and managers name which I will disclose if necessary. ~UPDATE: Jan 21, 20165:31pm~ Thank you for contacting Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles Concepts. We saw this joint on food network, looked great. We’re in GA so frequently I’m shocked that we never heard of it from the locals cause buddy let me TELL you! This is some GOODEATIN! we ordered what was featured on the show– Midnight Train, which is whole chicken wings southern fried along with a waffle. I added a side of mac n cheese. I could eat this exact meal everyday! Excellent. There is nothing I could say to change! It’s not an upscsle restaraunt, so don’t go they’re expecting that. It’s just a comfortable restaraunt. Prices are a little steep for lunch(4 of us ate the Midnight Train with sweet tea, we shared 2 sides just to try– mac n cheese & collard greens. Bill with tip $ 92). Worth every penny! I will be back here every time in GA.

Stop by for a late lunch, wanted to try the collard green Spring roll((they were out of them) I really wanted to like this place, Service was wanting, the food was mediocre, without any flare I had the blackened tilapia it was very good but no presentation on the plate The wait staff was friendly, but could use more training and supervision. all in all I would probably come back and give it another shot

I have dined there before and this place is extremely overrated. The food is ok but not to say that I’ll be going back. What really put the icing on the cake is that one day I walked in to use their restroom, however I was told I couldn’t use it unless I was going to eat there. Really? Wow! And I explained that I was pregnant… and showing! The staff just looked at me as if I was growing a set of horns on my head. Poor professionalism.

The absolute WORST customer service ever! They don’t even deserve one star. My husband and my kids just walked out of their Stonecrest location after sitting here for over 15 mins and not one person came to our table to take our drink orders. I saw only one other patron there, so they weren’t busy. All this time the hostess was at the front laughing and joking with another worker. They don’t deserve our money if the service starts out like that. On our way out, the hostess that seated us and another lady wearing a head wrap managed to stop their long conversation to say«have a good day». Really?! She was talking and laughing so much with the other worker that she didn’t even seem to realise that we left before placing our order or even cared to ask why we were leaving so soon. It was my first time here but i won’t be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. The place looks drab and run down on the interior and was very stuffy upon entering. We had to ask if the air was on, the hostess said she wasn’t sure if it was working. It did not feel welcoming there.

I’m rarely a two-piecer when it comes to stars. But unfortunately I can only give two stars for this establishment. One of those stars is for the young lady that took my order. Her name was Sheema/Shima… Something to that effect. She was extremely pleasant, and politely expedited my to-go order! The other star is for the fried catfish tenders that I ordered… Well, at least for the TASTE, anyway. Not much in terms of seasoning, but the fish was definitely fresh and bright. TOTALLY enjoyed that part. I was disappointed in the price-to-quantity-and-quality ratio. In trying to support a Black-owned business(whenever possible), and especially with the NAMES behind this one, I figured I’d venture in and try it while I was in the Atlanta-Metro area. In this instance, I really felt that this place totally lived up to the negative stigma of Black-owned businesses that drive prices up(even without a famous name behind them), while shorting on quality and quantity just so they can have profits. I ordered the standard chicken-and-waffle entrée. I got 4 wings and a waffle. The wings were GREAT in terms of size, but there was absolutely NO substance or great flavor to them. Very dry and bland on the outside. The waffle [which was strawberry on this particular day] didn’t appease me at all. It was overly soft, with no crisp. And there wasn’t much of a malt or distinctive flavor, that I couldn’t have made myself at home. Overall, I wasn’t exactly pleased. I’m hoping that this may have been just an off-day, or that this experience is only limited to the Stonecrest location. I’ve heard better things about the Atlanta location, but hopefully that one lives up to the hype as well.

The BEST part about my visit was our server, Stephanie. She was awesome! Now on to the food! I met a group of 3 friends here on Friday night. We all got Uptowns which were enormous and pretty basic but good. We ordered 2 appetizers which came out sooo late. They came out AFTER part of our meal was delivered. Defeats the purpose of getting an appetizer but the manager did apologize comp both dishes and that was nice. We had the fried green tomatoes and the collard green spring rolls. Both were good but the spring rolls order is really just TWO rolls cut in half to make four. When the fried green tomatoes were delivered, just as the plate was being set down, it spilled. shortly after we saw chicken fall to the floor because the server had too many plates on his arm. 2 of us ordered the midnight train with pecan waffle. The waffle came with 4 whole wings. It was decent but definitely not the best I’ve had. The other 2 ordered the Uncle Ron’s which is 3 pieces of chicken with 2 sides. Both complained that the squash casserole was sweetened and the mac and cheese isn’t going to win any awards. Bottom line should have gone to Golden Crust for better food. Sigh

Well, the average rating for this location seems about right. I’ve never been to this one; as I normally visit the downtown Atlanta restaurant. I had to go to Stonecrest to visit another store + I wanted chicken and waffles, so naturally I thought this would be a win. Wrong — first of all — I ordered an Uptown(Arnold Palmer) and when I tasted it I made the ugliest face and the waitress immediately asked, ‘Is it nasty?’. I told her, ‘yes’ and then requested an orange juice instead. We then ordered and waited for the food. Umm. my food came out before my orange juice. So, then when she asked if we needed anything further, I sternly told her that I was still awaiting the arrival of my orange juice. I mean, I was definitely thirsty by this point and annoyed. sheesh. The chicken was fried well but there wasn’t much flavor to it. Now, the chicken at the Atlanta location is awesome so I’m really not sure what happened here, but I think I got the last little craving I was having for Gladys Knight’s for quite some time. I’ve experienced a ton of awesome fried chicken and this wouldn’t eve. make the cut compared to the other. So, I think I’m done for now. but hey, we’ll see.

I had high expectations. The food is disappointing. I’ve had much better. I won’t be back. If I see lots of hair on chicken, it’s not clean… imo.

I went to Gladys Knight’s for a rehearsal dinner for a friend’s wedding. It was my first experience with real Southern food, and overall was reasonable but not without issues. We had a private room in the back so I can’t speak to the whole restaurant experience but can at least attest to mine. The staff was friendly and on their suggestion I ordered the Midnight Train(Fried Chicken and Waffles). It was very good, I was happy with the choice and despite knowing that was what I was probably in store for this place was a lot classier than I expected. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a fancy place, but when I’m from the North and I hear«Chicken and Waffles» I think of a hole in the wall that you go to at 3am or something along those lines. Glady’s was on the side of a nicer traditional restaurant. I also made a point of ordering Sweet Tea, because this was a Southern tradition that I had been growing increasingly fascinated with since it just doesn’t really exist up where I’m from(Wisconsin). It was delicious, it might give you serious medical problems if you drink it everyday because it was basically a pile of sugar and lemons, but hot damn, YOLO, and all that, it was good. Maybe normal Southern Sweet Tea isn’t always that, well, sweet, but I was happy this one was and man does it beat a Lipton’s Brisk any day of the week. Lastly food-wise I got to try some fried green tomatoes, and for someone who isn’t wild about tomatoes most of the time this was another proving example that deep fryers can cure everything. Where Glady and Ron fail though is on service. While all the staff were absolutely polite and friendly, it took them almost half an hour to even come to our table to ask us if we wanted any drinks and greet us. There was also this weird balance of things, we had been running late and they were on us about time, yet then they were slow with the above and ultimately bringing out food. It took an eternity to get our meals, easily one of the slowest experiences I’ve had in a while, and a big time lack of attention. Drinks took a long time to get delivered and filled, napkins and other requests as well, and finally the main course came out in segments to our group which to me is a huge no-no. Prices are acceptable for what you get, most items were in the $ 8 – 20 range and no one went home hungry. If I’m ever back in Atlanta I’d be game for trying this place again because the food was good and it’s harder to improve that then it is the service. If you like Chicken and Waffles, this is worth it, just be aware they have some work to do on the rest.

«Neither One Of Us» expected this place to be so slow last night with all the recommendations received during our stay in Atlanta. ******BYFARTHEWORSTRESTAURANT ***** The sweet tea lemonade was so sweet I’m uncertain how anyone could enjoy it. After diluting it with ice and water I gave up. I ordered the fried corn with brown sugar salmon as well! Another big mistake!!! The food was so salty that I literally left it on the plate. My girlfriend ordered smothered chicken; translation box gravy on top of fried chicken. Terrible as well but surprisingly she loved it! **Peach Cobbler was DELICIOUS; however the ice cream taste like it may have been left open in the freezer… I didn’t bother to complain because the food was pretty inexpensive and I’m all about the experience. This place just isn’t for me!!! The name clearly attracts the customers. My waiter was pleasant and for that I did compensate him but I will not be returning in the future!

Finally made it here. It was good the midnight train was very yum. I went with the pecan waffle. The flavor was good and perfectly cooked. The last wing of the four was by far the best… Make sure you make a reservation.

Food is pretty good here. I actually ate at this location years ago but never did a review. Of course given the restaurant’s name I tried the chicken and waffles the first time which was really good by the way. Today I tried the salmon croquettes, cinnamon raisin bread w/peach jam, and grits. The food was excellent besides the fact I felt that the grits were too salty. My waitress was very attentive to my needs. Bathrooms were clean. However, I’m wondering why they haven’t began repairing the leather seats in the booths. Stuff like that can easily begin to devalue a place. Other than that, I’d still come back.

Let me tell you, it is the NAME that attracts patrons to this place, but the food will definitely not keep them coming back! You could easily cook better dishes at home! The food here lacks everything soul food should have and is known for. I had the shrimp and grits and it was HORRIBLE! I ordered it to go, and for a $ 20 meal it was served in the most basic to-go box ever! The grits used were these basic, instant grits(the white ones), the shrimp was«sautéed» with some seasoning salt thrown on it and it was served with some damn raisin bread that wasn’t even toasted. The entire meal was just… ugh! My 8 year old could’ve cooked this better! Shrimp and grits is a southern staple and the fact that a southern restaurant couldn’t get this simple meal right is proof that people shouldn’t waste their money! The only people who would like the food here are the ones who aren’t accustomed to eating good food! There are sooooo many places where you can get quality food… don’t waste your time or money here!

This is a good stop on the way back to Augusta from Atlanta. Gladys Knights & Ron Winans Chicken and Waffle is a no brainer. Especially, on a Sunday. After spending a brief weekend in Atlanta we stopped and had brunch. I’ve eaten here on several occasions. My first observation is the décor needs updating. The chairs and booths have seen better days. Other than that, busy as usual. We got in just in time, so no wait. We were seated right away. I had the Salmon Croquettes with grits and raisin toast. My friend enjoyed the Smothered Chicken with corn and cabbage. Oh and a waffle. All dishes were great. Our waitress was nice and she delivered everything on time. The parking was easy, probably because we beat the crowd. Also, they have outdoor seating, which I’d love to take advantage of once the weather warms up. Overall, one of my favs when I’m in a southern style mood.

I question if it’s just because of the name of the place that attracts its somewhat popularity. Let’s get straight to the food on this one. We had the jerk chicken eggrolls for appetizers. The dip it came with reminded me of an Asian sweet chili sauce. It was really sweet, too much for my taste. The order came with two eggrolls that were halved. I could barely even taste the chicken. It was probably because of the lack of meat inside and also that I could see that the eggroll looked double wrapped to make it look thicker. It’s a huge no-no when there is more eggroll skin than filling. I got the Midnight Train(4 whole chicken wings and a waffle). I was looking forward to eating what this place was named for. I subbed the plain waffle for a pecan waffle. This was a dissapointment. The waffle was really thin and basic, not what I was expecting for a restaurant that is suppose to be known for chicken and waffles. I was hoping for a deep-rich texture. The chicken wings were good. They were lightly breaded, crispy on the outside and thick and meaty on the inside. Not too greasy as well. The last time I came here, I got the Shrimp n Grits and they only gave me 3 pieces of shrimp. It was literally plain grits and some shrimp. The dish couldnt have made me feel more like I shouldve just cooked Quakers grits and boiled frozen shrimp at home and save some money. I think this is the last time I’ll be here.
