Don’t go to the Douglaston Modell’s to buy sneakers/shoes. Worst selection of footwear! There’s a decent selection of workout equipment: free weights, bench, punching bags, workout gloves, boxing/kickboxing gloves, yoga mats, kettle bells, etc. Customer service has improved a little, but they need better training on sporting goods and merchandise knowledge.

Are you kidding me went in there today for the first time and last time ever. No selection at all I wanted to buy my 4 year old son a Mets Shirt for tomorrow’s game. They had one I mean only one 4T mets shirt this store sucks. I asked the blond hair kid if they have any in the back he looked at me with a stupid face like I did not even know what the hell I was talking about.

This Modell’s has sporting goods and the folks are pretty nice, but it is an extremely outdated and cluttered store with a parking deck that is badly in need of resurfacing. I went to purchase table tennis paddles and a Yankees hat. This location had both. But the shopping experience leaves so much to be desired. It’s not that the stuff in the store is cluttered, it’s just that it’s not comparable to any other chain sporting goods store. Also, because of it’s size, there’s not a lot of specialty sporting goods.(For instance, it took me a while to find both the Yankees hat and the table tennis stuff.) All in all, if you are in a pinch, then this store may have what you are looking for. But I would not recommend it as a destination.

Stopped in yesterday looking for some things, but this store is very under stocked with items and really shows it’s age. The store is also under manned ‚(couldn’t find anyone to help me) very disappointed so I left.

Not a great selection and the place is in need of a major overhaul. Never packed though which is a bonus for a quick grab.

Typical sporting good store with all the baseball mitts, sneakers, hockey gear etc. you can stand. Not nearly the same selection as Sports Authority or Dicks. What they do have is a 10% military discount. Just show your Mil ID and they give you the discount right at the cashier, no waiting for managerial approval or nothing. If you just need some normal gear and feel like supporting a military friendly establishment, give any Modells a try.
