Wonderful every time we go. One of my all time favorite restaurants. We make a point to eat here whenever we’re in the area.

Chianti South is an outstanding Italian Restaurant. You can tell the pasta is homemade and fresh. We had the Fettuccini Alfredo and the Ravioli Raustica; which were excellent. We are from NY and used to excellent Italian food. You can tell a lot of time and attention is put into the making of these meals. All made to order. The service was excellent. We were greeted by our server immediately and the food came within 15 minutes. Also, our bread and water were replenished frequently. Overall, dining at Chianti South was an excellent experience for the food, service and atmosphere. We hope you to enjoy it on our next trip.

Love this place! Reminds us of our favorite Italian places to eat in the northwest. So what the outside could use some work, the food and portions are more than worth it. Will be back. Our waitress rocked!

Very short! Tremendous! Forget the negative reviews! Simply disgruntled and unhappy people! My first time there and it was wonderful! Could be considered a place where«dining is a wonderful experience»! Our waitress(Mexican young lady) was attentive and extremely pleasant! Food was pretty darn good! Not exceptional but well worth the money! Give it a try!

The food and service was good, I both had veal, my wife had marsala I had Margarita, mine was great while m wife’s was a little tuff; the service was great the owner came over and asked and I gave it to honestly; me and my wife switched plates, and he sent over a desert, I certainly understand having worked in restaurants when I was young it’s hard to cook veal, over cooked it gets tuff easy.

I gave them 5 stars on taste of food. Authentic noodles hand made but they could spruce up the place a bit. Needs to be renovated a little.

The funny thing is that a bunch of us have been going to Myrtle Beach for golf for years and I can’t tell you how many times we’ve driven past it. Don’t know why – maybe it looked like is more for older folks or maybe we just didn’t trust Italian food in Myrtle Beach. So, we looked at Unilocal and saw an overall 4 ½ star rating and said, «why not?» The food was superb and there was plenty of it. And that was the comment of all six of us. I’m not going to say get this or get that or you just have to try this; it was all excellent. One minor complaint, and it was shared by me and another friend who ordered the veal parm. A little heavy on the breading and frying. Lighten up a bit. Other than that – fantastic!

Excellent food and service. Menu is marginally vegetarian friendly but I have no doubt, based on quality of service, that they would accommodate special requests.

First I would like to start by saying that we are locals that live in Sunset Beach and frequent eating establishments in the area frequently. This was however, my fiancé and my first time at Chianti South’s. We met several couples on Tuesday night for dinner. We were so excited since we are all such«Foodies.» We are all from the food and beverage business in one for or the other. The first thing we all noticed was the lack of background noise. Absolutely, no music. We immediately migrated over to our favorite area, the bar. We ordered cocktails, while another couple ordered a bottle of wine and the others had ales. The bartender was friendly. After a second round, we sashayed to a table for dinner. Our waitress sat us near the christmas tree close to the entrance. It was a nice large round table; still no music. We studied the menu, lots to choose from. Of course, I chose Osso Bucco. Since it was our first visit and should be the most exceptional item on the menu. At $ 38 I should hope it would be superb. My fiancé had the lasagna at $ 19. Someone else ordered the Chicken Marsala. The Bread was served with butter and oil. Bread was good. Salads followed. Very dissapointing. It was mearly a lettuce salad. No tomato, carrot, cucumber, onion? We had to wait a while for our entrees; not sure why? Let me start with Chicken Marsala. The Chicken had little to no flavor the Marsala was more like a brown gravy without the wonderful taste of Marsala. So dissapointing! The pasta side was okay, would have been better if the Marinara had some kick to it! The lasagna dish was mediocre; more flavore at Olive Garden. Now we move on to my beloved Osso Bucco. I was excited when I saw it delivered. It was a nice sized shank, tender and moist. The sauce seemed a bit thin, but okay. I dove in. It really lacked seasoning. The garlic, anchovy, fresh ground pepper, the basic trinity… to start the base, you know? Don’t get me wrong; I was starving. I ate it and shared it, too. But it wasn’t what I make at home. Please tell me… was I just there on a bad night? I looked on the other comments and all the rest of you are raving highest praises of this food! Please help me understand. I don’t believe I’m a difficult patron. Just honest. Thank you.

I Had their signature dish the veal chop. Was very fatty and had little meat. For $ 38 I expected a much better cut of veal. My wife had their Egg plant parmigiana and tasted like a frozen dish and not home made at all. Would not go back.

My husband and I went here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and requires reservations which luckily we made. We were quickly seated at a very nice and clean table. Our server came right over and you could tell she was Italian… Always a good sign. We ordered calamari, chicken Parm, manicotti, and a side of sausage. They were all to die for and this is the one place in the area that has great sauce. We come from the northeast and know what sauce is supposed to taste like. Most places down here serve sauce that tastes like sweet cough medicine. Chianti south serves authentic Italian food that you would expect to find in any major cities’ little Italy.

Best Italian food in myrtle beach. Great food. The lamb chops are to die for. Bread is served warm with crunchy outside, soft inside. Really good Caesar salad. Nice wine list. I highly recommend this restaurant. Make a reservation.

Love the bread and the dipping oil & spices with parmesan cheese and a big glass of red wine. Yum. Chianti South is the best! Handmade /housemade pasta. Enough said. Love love love it. The insalata caprese when tomatoes and basil are in season. Theirs is the best. Long live chianti south! Update: we are going on vacation next week and plan to eat at Chianti South 2 nights. Already getting tasted up for the veal and mushroom raviolis with butter and sage sauce. .. yum. And a nice glass of wine on the terrace back patio. Lovely!

Without a doubt THEBEST home made pasta I have ever had! Cavatelli, sausage and rapini. It was so good that I immediately wanted another plate of it. It’s been two weeks since we were there and I’m still thinking about it. Frank and his staff were all very generous and welcoming hosts. We truly felt like we were regulars on our very first visit. We can’t wait to come back.

Errrrrr WHATHAPPENED. My family has been eating here for 5 years and this was the worst by far. Everyone else’s meals were pretty good but I dunno what happened here for me. I ordered my usual the steak and I have no idea what happened. I ordered it medium well and the outside looked like it had roasted on the surface of the sun for 2 hours. But the inside was good but when i order a mw steak I don’t expect it to be charred on the outside

We eat here at least once every three months. We come here for good Italian dinners beyond the standard pizza and pasta thing. We always have had a nice meal here whether it be the Marsala or the mussels or other Italian dishes. Service is always good; courteous, in top of things but not too obtrusive. I highly recommend trying this place.

Since my parents and sisters moved down south 7+ years ago, I’d always pass Chianti South on my way to see them after flying in from NJ, as they all live right down the road. They’d always comment about how they need to take me there for dinner as they’ve been enjoying Chianti South since moving down. FINALLY, after all these years — I was treated to Chianti South this past Labor Day Weekend. A reservation is a must, we called 2 days before we wanted the reservation, but they only had a 5pm for 7 adults open for the day we wanted. Inside is slightly outdated, dark interior but very clean. I wouldn’t say«old school» — just outdated. We were sat in a semi private area by the kitchen. I wasn’t sure how that was going to work out — feared it being too busy but there was ample space between where the severs and bus attendees walkway in proximity of our table and I never once felt disturbed as I drew the short straw and sat on the isle way. We started with the antipasto misto, which was enough for about 4 adults so we ordered calamari as well. Both were very fresh. The calamari was crispy but the tomato sauce was a bit lacking in flavor. The antipaso was delicious though, I could have ate that as my main! Though I’m a sucker for cured meats and cheeses. The complimentary bread that was served was just okay — you can tell it was reheated probably one too many times. The heals of the bread were so dry and stale. Better to make panzanella out of it! I had the Cavatelli as my main. It had broccoli rabe, and mild italian sausage crumbles. It could have used a bit more garlic for my tastes, but it just passed. Nothing mind blowing. As typical in my family, we all sampled each others dish. The gnocchi were cooked perfect, though they put WAY too much sauce. Could hardly tell the gnocchi were under there at first. Linguine alle vongole was clean, simple, delicious. I had food envy. Generous portion of clams. Veal parm was typical, thankfully not overcooked and my father finished it off with a happy smile at the end. Chicken parm was typical as well. Eggplant parm was good, no bitter taste from the eggplant, and it towered high. The penne vodka was flavorful, and sauced just enough. No jarred sauce used there! Dessert consisted of NY cheesecake, canoli’s, and tiramisu. Canoli’s come two to an order and were ample. Cheesecake was good, and the tiramisu was light and could taste all the layers. We never felt rushed once, the waitress was very nice and welcoming, smiled every time she came to the table. Our glasses were never left without liquid, and the owner came to check on us and ask how everything was. The highlight out of everyone who came to the table, was by far the bus attendee. He was animated, skilled [if I dare say] and seriously we got a little show when he wrapped up our left overs. I’ve never seen someone tie a bag so dramatically before. It was great. Overall I recommend the restaurant — they get packed by 5:30pm so make sure to make a reservation, even in the«off season» the parking lot is jammed. In the past 7+ years my family has been going, they’ve not had a bad experience. I would return for sure!

Chianti South has been a favorite of ours since we bought a vacation house in the area four years ago. It is a welcome contrast to the chain/buffet style restaurants that dominate the area — Myrtle Beach is a bit of a «waist land» for foodies. My wife and son took our daughter, son in law and granddaughter there on June 28th. My son in law’s parents were regulars at the original Chianti in Newburgh NY(hence the name Chianti South). The manager, Arturo, remembered details of their family down to his Father’s ailments to what his grandmother would order! Most all of the pasta dishes are great but for first timers try the ravioli. I had the crab cake special which was all crab(very little breaking) and flavored just right. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their meal. The calamari appetizer and the goat cheese are a must. Have Arturo help you with the wine list as he can find the hidden gems of Italian wines at your desired price. The courtyard off the bar is a nice spot of a cocktail before or after the meal. Be sure to look at the 100 year old live oak trees on the other side of the building before you leave. Chianti is easy to find — right off 17 in Little River(for the golfers out there just south of Heather Glen)

What a great restaurant! My wife and mother-in-law had eaten here before but last might was the first time for me. What a wonderful menu. Following an appetizer of calamari, My wife had the bolognese, my mother-in-law ordered some carbonara(even though it wasn’t on the menu) and I had a special, stuffed salmon served over angel hair(whole wheat) pasta. We all felt the meal was one of the best we ever had eaten. Everyone should try this place! If you do, you will return, like I plan to.
