Dempsey Bakery

My wife and I have eaten there several times and everything is great. It is one of our go to places for sweets. Everything they have is gluten free, which my wife needs. I recommend the Hot Milk Cake, amazing!

Omg! What an amazing restaurant. My family enjoy frequenting locals whenever possible. During a recent visit to Little Rock from our home in Hot Springs, we needed a gluten free lunch option. Dempsey was absolutely delicious and nifty. The owner even visited our table as though we were a part of her family. The taste of the menu items surpassed that of large chains. We will be back.

We arrived around 11am when they started serving lunch. The BLT was fantastic: crispy brown sugar-​glazed bacon between two slices of toasty sandwich bread. The chicken salad sandwich was delicious & well-​balanced, served on a chewy deli bun. There was no grainy texture to the breads which is a sign of GF done right.
Same goes for the Pumpkin bread & Nana bread, as well as the Death by Chocolate cake. However, the cake texture was dense & hard … it was such a large portion we ate the rest later in the day when it had warmed up — and the texture became much fluffier and richer. So beware if you go early in the day, the cakes may not have fully defrosted.
The cookies are solid if you’re into chewy cookies. I personally like them crunchier, and wasn’t a fan of the grainy texture from the heavy use of rice flour.
All in all, a great gluten-​free find (also 100% soy– and nut-​free), and tons of dairy-​free options.

I’m disappointed in the service. I made a special trip across town to pickup a specific item. I showed up a few minutes after 5. Their website shows they are open until 6, but the person inside said they were closed and turned me away. I only needed an item out of the freezer.

This place was a lifesaver when I eliminated gluten for a while. The lunches are fantastic, and they always have a vegetarian option. The staff is kind and helpful, and the baked goods are divine. Trust me when I say that you won’t miss a thing by cutting out the gluten, soy, nuts, etc. Not here, at least!

Anytime I find a dedicated GF bakery I have to check it out. This is the best I have ever been to, from sweet to savory they have it. I’m not local to Little Rock, AR but it’s where my mother-​in-​law is living. When we visit I make a large order and take it home. They do ship, but I stalk up to last a couple of months.

Best Gluten, Wheat, Soy and Nut Free Bakery around!!! Right here in the natural state!!! Box lunches are suburb! The Hearty Italian Buns are excellent for me and my son when we make burgers! The desserts never disappoints either!!! Just amazing! XO Thank you Dempsey Bakery for having the heart to create and offer better food alternatives!!!

Absolutely GF heaven! Service and selection are wonderful. Lots of things out everyday to taste before you buy. Great lunch choices. Also a wide selection of freezer items. If you have food allergies this is the place to visit… a lot!

While visiting Little rock I discover a Dempsey — a real gem. They have an amazing variety with a wonderful store front tooo (very good selection). I felt like a kid in candy store… so many samples to try and so many yummy options. It was hard to chose so I chose items I don’t see in the San Francisco Bay Area very often plus I needed to buy lunch and food for the plane ride home.
Dempsey Bakery has done an amazing job with their breads/​cakes. All of the bred items I sampled were amazing. I could tell they have done a lot of research to prefect their cakes and breads. Bread was the best I’m had in a long time.
I ordered two sandwiches to go for my journey back to San Francisco. The bread tasted yummy… It had a subtle bread flavor and stayed together while I ate my sandwiches (1 for lunch and 1 for dinner). The bread had a good texture and crust was crispy (i like the crust).
Eggplant Sandwich: So far my fav sandwich. Eggplant was tasty with good flavor and vegetables were fresh and yummy. GF bread did not fall apart and held the sandwich while I ate it.
Muffaletta: Good quality meats. Olive spread was very good (if you love Olives you will love this).
Pickle: Both sandwiches came with an amazing pickle — it tasted like it was home made (or not store bought). It had very good flavors and hint of vinegar.
Salt Pepper & BBQ Chips: I’m not a chips person however I would order these in heart beat. These chips were a little thicker and were seasoned nicely. I think they made them or locally made. They were very fresh.
Hot Milk Bread: OMG it taste just like a donut. It tasted between what I remember to be an old fashion donut and glazed donut.
Pumpkin Bread: What a treat. I love pumpkin bread and this hit the spot. I bought two loafs.
Lemon Blueberry Bread: I’ve always been a HUGE fan of lemon cakes/​cookies. I was worried the blueberries this would be too sweet but it wasn’t. It had a nice balance of lemon flavor mixed with Blueberries. Lemon taste was not too sour, tart or sweet. It had a good balance.

An exceptionally cute bakery that specializes in baked goods that are allergen free. The cookies, tea breads and cinnamon rolls are delicious. A great bakery for every palette and every diet.

I have been to MANY, many gluten-​free bakeries — from Chicago to New York to San Francisco.
Dempsey Bakery is a gem. An absolute gem. The baked goods are flavorful, consistently high-​quality and delicious. Their cookies are by FAR the best GF cookies I’ve ever had.
If you’re stopping by for lunch, make sure to grab a sandwich and a cup of their homemade soup of the day — everything here is superb!
And on top of all the GF goodness, the staff is always as welcoming and as friendly as can be.

If you have a child with food allergies or have food allergy yourself, do yourself a favor and visit Dempsey’s. The owner has close family with serious food allergy and built the bakery to cater to their needs. Every delicious item (I sampled quite a few!) was meticulously labeled for allergen content and nearly everything in the shop was gluten, egg, and dairy free. Best of all, it was unbelievably good. I had a Caprese melt followed by a mint brownie and can’t wait to go again.

I have been buying gluten free items from Dempsey for two years now. They have a hot milk cake that is amazing and gluten free — my favorite item! Also their sugar cookies are the best ever. I live in Jonesboro and usually take a whole load of bread home with me. They have the best gluten free bread on the market!

Dempsey’s is our GF oasis. I’m so thankful we have this great bakery in our community. My daughter has celiac. She’s the only one in our family that has to eat GF but we all love eating at Dempseys. Try the muffuletta!

Dempsey Bakery is great! I love their variety. I live in Washington, DC and most of the gluten free places here only focus on sweets. It’s great that Depmsey has so many options. I’ve loved everything I’ve had from there. Right now I’m really enjoying their cracker bread. I was so excited to see that you can order it on Amazon!
The other thing I love about Demsey’s is that so many local restaurants carry their products. It’s really special to be able to come home and have a favorite like Izzy’s Veggie Melt on Dempsey’s gluten free bread.

we live 2 hours south of little rock but it is so worth it. We can order & have it sent to us. We love to find an excuse to go ip there. I am 61 and have a gluten problem. My daughter had it also. Now she has a year old son who also can not have gluten. Dempsey made the cupcakes gor his 1^st birthday party.
They gave so many other products breads, rolls, buns just to name a few of the staples. Then their speciality items are to die for.

We went to Dempsey Bakery every week while our team was working in Little Rock and we think this place is a gem. It’s not often that you can find such a tasty gluten-​free bakery. Michelle and her team are upbeat and friendly. I’ll make it a point to go back there each time I’m back.

Went to Dempsey Bakery in April along with some coworkers. We were in Little Rock for a convention. Made the long walk to Dempsey Bakery on a warm and humid day, and the food we had was well worth it.
I am not gluten free (one of my coworkers is) but the sandwich I had was just great. The taste and texture of the bread would rival any expensive artisan wheat bread. I usually eat only half the bread on my sandwich, but I ate every bit of the bread on the sandwich at Dempsey’s Bakery! couldn’t resist! The soup was good, too.
We tried all of the dessert samples they displayed, and all were moist, flavorful, and every bit as good as a top quality gluten containing dessert. We all bought cookies to go, although three of the four of us visiting were not gluten free.
I also loved the crisp, clean, fresh décor.
Little Rock, you have a winner in Dempsey’s. Wish we had the same in Dallas. Also, kudos to the owner; she was so pleasant and knowledgeable.

Let’s start with the positives: I like that they are in downtown Little Rock, as the options are always limited in this area. They also have a cute layout — very modern with a darling red and white checkered floor! And, they have the FRIENDLIEST employees. They gave me heaps of free samples and discussed with me their vision, gluten allergies, etc.
My «small» negative is that I was somewhat disappointed with the flavor of a few of the things I tasted. I am more than sure this is do to the fact that they are making standard pastries in a way that takes into account all kinds of allergies, which means a reduction or removal of some ingredients. Although I’ve had some allergy issues, I definitely love my gluten! ;)
With this said, I haven’t tried a majority of the items, so I wouldn’t say they make unflavored bread or desserts in general — there were just a few I wasn’t so keen on during my visit. I also know people who have gluten allergies and are so thankful for this bakery!
