24 Hour Fitness

It’s hard finding a basketball court that is ever used for basketball in a gym anymore. Usually, you have aerobics, pickleball, volleyball, grab-​ass. Just not basketball. This place had great potential until I signed up. I came in tonight and there was a sign stating, that for the next 4 months, 4pm-​9pm Mon-​Fri the basketball court would be closed for youth camps. I feel like they sub-​contracted my membership. Paying $ 60 per month and got docked $ 80 annual fee. Incredible.

Went to class this Saturday morning and there was a scribbled sign on the door that said it was shut down for the day. They didn’t even notify the instructors that it was closed. What kind of a rinky dink operation is going on there? What a joke! Also when I was trying to advocate that the class schedule not be changed by a corporate muckity muck saying that the wonderful classes are the only reason I have this membership, the manager offered to cancel my membership. When I asked to speak to her manager she said he probably wouldn’t get back to me since he has more important things to do. The class instructors are amazing but the local and district management is rude and incompetent.

I’ve trained at this gym for 2 years and I have to move and switch gyms which I’m really going to miss. The environment is great and the people who go here and all of the trainers are super nice and helpful. I’ve never trained at a gym with a better environment than this one.

I would give NO STARS if it were possible. I really wanted to like you 24 hr but you’ve drove the final nail in the coffin with your consistent poor work ethic and shady business practices. My gripes as numbered:
1.This gym is mainly staffed by stuck up disinterested teenagers who are only concerned with hooking up with one another, gossiping, playing on their phones etc. I don’t even bother with small talk anymore. All of these kids sans the few remaining Bally employees rub me the wrong way. I’ve been charged two different prices for a smart water. One day it’s $ 4.50 and then the next it’s $ 3.94. The staff needs completely overhauled. They’re under trained to say the least. Or they’re pocketing 50 cents a person.
2. Two of the daycare «attendants» (see snotty apathetic teenagers) are grossly unqualified to do their jobs. The blonde (not Jennifer) and the brunette (the curly haired girl). When they aren’t together they mysteriously do not complain about my son. However when they are every little thing is blown out of proportion and it’s the end of the world. Why? They aren’t doing their jobs and they’re covering their asses.
Further, my son has been picked on and treated unfairly because they don’t know how to do their job. There is much more than tending to children than printing up a label to put on their backs. You actually have to WATCH them. Play with them. Intervene when there is conflict. You don’t demonize a child for behaving in an age appropriate way because you might not be able to play on your phone or engage your co-​worker in gossip for a moment and god forbid DO YOUR JOB. Take some classes that teach you how to care for children properly. Get some certifications. Otherwise go back to waiting tables or running the register at Target. I doubt that their childcare staff is even CPR certified let alone have the credentials to work with multiple age groups. Due to how my son has been treated by these bimbos, along with how said bimbos allowed other kids to treat my son, I will not sign a contract with 24 Hour Fitness. My son has experience with other childcare attendants and I never heard anything negative from them. Chances are it was because they were doing their JOB! My son will not be entrusted to the care of two girls that are unfit to supervise children. I always found it strange that my son ran to me when I picked him up when these two were working. It’s like he couldn’t wait to leave. After today I know why…
My son is tall for his age. These young ladies thought that my son was 5. Hence why it was not acceptable for him to be acting like a 3 yr old. Just because he’s tall does not mean he’s isn’t 3. My son was roughed up for a toy by another child (who is 5) and my son retaliated. However, the bimbos don’t catch this part of the interaction. So my son is made into a monster while this 5 yr old wuss looks like a victim. It sounds like the bully got put into his place and he didn’t like it. My son suffers from a speech delay. He can’t tattle and explain to these girls that he was punched in the face over a toy! Due to this misunderstanding my son has been labeled as a danger to his peers because he defended himself and was kicked out.
I can’t believe I paid for this. It’s not a service or convenience. It’s a JOKE.
3. Doing the bait and switch and acting as though you’re doing us Bally discards a favor for the price $ 30+ a mo (when our contract runs out) because you slap some paint and cheesy motivational posters on the walls is kind of sleazy. The equipment is Bally’s leftovers. Sure it works but it’s old and there is always a machine broken or excuse me «under maintenance». PRETTY CHEAP CONEHEAD!
4. Every interaction is about sinking hooks in you to ensure they can extract as much money from you as possible. I mean $ 4.50 for a water? Gas per gallon was cheaper in 2008! First and last for childcare and $ 27 a mo for it? What is this rent? Do you need a deposit? Maybe if you all start seeing your members as people and not dollar signs they would hold you in higher esteem. Yes, gym memberships cost money but this poop can thinks it’s Equinox. I guess with these sleazy fly by night operations it’s catch as catch can. You’re the McDonald’s of gyms. Mediocre! You will be Bally if you don’t watch it!
5. If you have kids AVOID this place. This chain caters to juiced up prima donnas and there is no room for the average Joe here. If paying to have your children locked in a room with some bimbos who act put out to do their job and being charged $ 27 a mo for it (adding insult to injury) by all means this is the place for you! It’s like paying to take it in the pooper! No way! My contract with Bally is up on April 28^th. I’m out. I’m going back to Club USA where kids are cared for properly and I can workout without worrying how my son is being treated!

Not quite sure if the Bally locations will be renovated but this location definitely leaves a bit to be desired. I’ll stick to the South Kipling location for a more pleasant workout experience.

It’s 5:25 am, apparently opening late is a biweekly event. Parking lot is full with the usual early am crowd. One by one people are pulling away, my guess is that this going to end up a metaphor…
