Angelina’s Italian Restaurant

We tried to eat here tonight but the doors are locked and the open sign is turned off. We got here at 7:30 and the sign says they’re open until 8…
I’m disappointed! I wish I could give a review of the food.

Tried this restaurant a few days ago and had high hopes. Started out ok with the hostess explaining to us the history and «bio» of the owner. I ordered the basic spaghetti and meatballs thinking it was going to be fabulous. Wrong. The sauce was watery because the pasta was not drained properly. The spaghetti was overcooked. No flavor. The meatballs were also flavorless. Terrible all around. They claim to be“fine” dining. It’s not. Very expensive. White tablecloths alone does not mean you are a fine dining establishment. Felt ripped off and won’t be going back.

Wow. Im SO glad that we found this place! It’s kind of innocuous, as it’s placed around random other business in a strip-​like fashion, but it’s SO worth it. The owner has a colorful history, and has been making great food for a long time. He comes out to chat with you, the waitress was really nice and helpful, and it wasn’t terribly crowded. Nice, personal environment that you can relax and have an intimate dinner. The bread is like crack, and the food is fantastic. We will definitely be back! I had been missing this Italian place we used to frequent in Aurora, but now that we’ve had this Italian food, Aurora is no longer in my mind! Kudos!

I tried this place even though I thought the price’s were a lil high. The food is fair, certainly not worth the price they charge…

Stuffed mushrooms and homemade mozzarella were amazing, loved our entrees (lasagna and manicotti) as well but the appetizers were definitely our favorite! Service was great and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful

Wow is all I can say. Went here tonight at 6:00 with a Groupon that I have printed out that says it expires today, 2÷11÷2016. We stated we had a Groupon upon arrival which oddly the waitress said was good to know in advance «for sure»! We ordered, got drinks, placed our food order and were asked for the Groupon. She leaves and comes back, says it is expired, no it’s not expires today I say. She leaves comes back, sorry nothing «we» can do. I say fine were leaving. Get home, login to My Groupon account and it says…“redemeemed”! What??? Stay away, this place doesn’t need business. Oh wait, we were the only ones there. I have already contacted Groupon, sorry Angelina’s … We really wanted to try you and like you, never again!

Absolutely amazing meal! Highly recommend!!! The staff was friendly. The food was tremendous. And the owner even came out to the table to make sure we were enjoying our meal.

Located in a very unassuming place — next to the usually strip mall regulars such as nail salons, etc. it’s cozy and Bob comes out from the kitchen to chat with diners. I think they are open only for dinner on weekdays starting at 4 pm and possibly lunch on weekends. The prices are moderate but the entrees were tasty, filling and well plated. I had the eggplant parmesan and my husband had the lasagna. My favorite was the salad with balsamic dressing.
The first thing our server did was to provide a history of Angelina’s and I heard her telling other first time diners as well. She was very friendly and checked up on us regularly.
I would eat here again to try other dishes.

We decided to finally try this Italian restaurant. We had seen in numerous times while eating elsewhere in the same shopping area. A quick check on Unilocal and it seemed like it would be ok to try, and that is exactly what it was — just «ok.»
We were seated immediately. The first thing I noticed were the prices, which seemed high considering the looks, atmosphere, and location (strip mall). We ordered an appetizer, salads, and meals. Our server brought us bread (oven-​baked bread with butter), and it was very good. In fact, we asked for more. After our appetizer arrived, our server asked us if we would like our salads at the same time as our dinner, and we said she could bring things as they were ready. We assumed they were about ready anyway.
Time passed. Three other tables were seated and two of them got their meals before we ever got our salads. The dinner salads were good. More time passed. Since it was taking a long time, I decided to ask our server if there was something we ordered, perhaps my lasagna, that took longer than usual to prepare. She explained that they try to provide more of a dining experience and they don’t even start preparing the entrees until they serve the salads. I didn’t realize this, as it is my fault I didn’t have proper expectations for this meal, based on the fact that it was in a strip mall next to several fast food restaurants.
More time passed. After asking about our second order of bread for the 3^rd time, it finally arrived. It was as good as the first serving. Our entrees finally arrived. We had a variety of items and I had the lasagna. I was disappointed with it. It didn’t have a great taste, and it was greasier than I prefer.
The staff were very nice. Our waters stayed refilled, which is great. I appreciate the effort they put into trying to make this a nice romantic Italian restaurant, but it isn’t. If you are going to yell «how many?» from across the small room when people walk through the door, it kind of ruins the atmosphere for everyone who is already there. It is also unnecessary since the dining area is so small — just walk over and greet people privately.
I can only give this 3 stars, due to the time it took to get our food and the atmosphere. While the dinner salad and bread were good, the entrée wasn’t, so they balance out. I would rate the staff 5 stars, but the pricing 2 stars based on factors mentioned above. So, I think 3 is fair. To get to 4 stars, they would need to improve their food and processes, while lowering their prices to match the atmosphere and location.

Worst dining experience of my life at this place! The food was mediocre at best, way too expensive and the owner is not a nice person. I complained when our Groupon was not accepted because I had just purchased it before coming. I asked to speak to management who was the owner who proceeded to insult and belittle me for saying that I didn’t appreciate his idea of customer service. I will never go back here and have told everyone I know in this area to steer clear!

This is a good Italian restaurant if you want good food good service Angelina’s is the place to go

A great little hole in the wall Italian joint. Friendly service and food is affordable. The stromboli (sp?) is the best thing on the menu imo. Don’t ask for ranch for your pizza or you’ll get a lecture on how that’s a crime.

Great atmosphere, awesome service! The food is very authentic and delisch. Highly recommended. Bob the owner cooks the food and makes sure that you are happy. Bob is a gem. The prices reflect the great food but certainly worth it. Free garlic bread!

We were in the area looking for a place to eat and decided on Angelina’s because they had a GroupOn and raved about the homemade authentic Italian cuisine. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty rough. The food and atmosphere are very outdated and the food is incredibly overpriced and bland. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he said everything is good and that he wouldn’t even feel comfortable making the rec based on that fact. Ok.
I ordered chicken w/​pasta in vodka sauce, she got the seafood plate (can’t remember the name). Waiter was twirling his tongue ring as he took the order. It took us about 30 minutes to get the order and it was incredibly underwhelming when it arrived. My portion was for a small child, her portion was for a family of 6 and the price difference was only a couple of dollars. It was easily the worst penne a la vodka I’ve ever had. She was only able to eat approximately ¹⁄₁₆^th of hers and the leftovers will most likely be going in the garbage. The wine was fine. They were too attentive with the water which some people like but I think 8 water refills throughout a 45 minute dinner is too many. More than half full = I’m fine.
At the end we found out that our GroupOn would not be honored because the waiter accused us of purchasing it while we were dining which is just not true, we purchased it hours before. We would not have stayed at this place if we knew we wouldn’t be able to use the GroupOn. He informed me that we can just use it next time to which I responded there would not be a next time. He walked away and did not say one more word to us when doing a «drop by» (dropping off the check as he walked by) and then dropping off the receipt.
We watched 2 other couples sit down, look at the menu, and then leave for what we assume was a similar reason. We would recommend a bunch of other Italian places in the area before this place. Olive Garden is a better use of hard earned money. Unilocal says 2 stars means «I’ve had better» and 1 star means stay away. 1 star it is.

Love this restaurants! It’s a neighborhood gem. The owner cooks all the food himself. If you are looking for good Italian food, you must give this a try!

Overall the food was excellent. Best gnocchi we have ever had. Their white sauce was also great. This is a family run business that probably does not have the luxury to hire a lot of help. So if you go, be patient and enjoy a finely cooked meal.

Absolutely love! Always looking for good Italian food because Olive Garden doesn’t do the job! Bob, the owner and chef is fabulous and always takes time to check up with guests! A must try!

My wife and I had dinner here on Friday night, 1÷23÷15. The staff was friendly but it seemed that they were very short staffed. We were told the wait for a table was just a few minutes but it took 45 minutes to be seated. After being seated it took 15 minutes to get water and order. It took about 40 minutes for our meal to arrive — thank goodness we ordered a cheese bread appetizer because we were starving by the time dinner arrived. Our food was mediocre. We ordered the spaghetti and the chicken francesca. The spaghetti sauce was watery and both dishes were very salty.
The staff was always buzzing around but there weren’t enough waitstaff to accommodate the ~18 tables.
Disappointed overall and won’t be returning.

We came here once before, food and service were excellent. Tonight however, this was not the case. We were seated quickly as we had reservations, and the waitress seemed pleasant enough, but tonight, the service was horrible, the food was so-​so, and we had to ask for our salad, and ask for our check. We were very disappointed with the outcome of the very special evening we had planned.
The people behind us and the people beside us were also asking for services that had not been provided. I.e. Do you think we can get our bread we been here over an hour? It was not a pleasant evening.
We’re disappointed with the experience as we had always felt that Angelina’s was a home restaurant and catered to special attention.
