Rocky Mountain Radon Control

We needed to install a radon mitigation system based on our house inspection. We needed a company that was professional, timely, and reasonably priced to install a system. We contacted Rocky Mountain Radon Control and they met the buyer to discuss placement, then provided us a quote, and then completed the job timely. I highly recommend their services as they were quick, reasonably priced, and very professional!

When things go smoothly it’s easy to give a good review to a company. However when problems occur that’s where the great companies separate themselves from the hacks. Unfortunately my experience with Rocky Mountain Radon Control proved themselves as the latter.
In the process of selling our house we had to install a radon mitigation system and the sellers real estate agent decided to go with the above mentioned company. It even started out auspiciously when they didn’t show up for the appointment. After the sellers agent who was onsite called them they determined that it was mis-​scheduled and they made plans to show up late in the afternoon. Three guys showed up about 4:00pm and worked quickly to install the system using our existing sump pump. They finished up just after 5:00 and gathered their things and left.
The next morning I noticed I didn’t have any power in a bank of outlets in my basement. I of course checked my breakers and none of them had been tripped so my wife called the company and explained the situation. They told her to reset the GFCI outlet in the basement and it would be fine. End of call. I went down and checked the bathroom GFCI and it was fine. I tested it and reset it and still no power. I then called back and explained what I had done and the owner then took the call. Apparently he was one other three guys who had come over the day before to do the work. He assured me that it was just a GFCI and all I had to do was reset it. I told him I had already done that and he continued to hammer at the point that I had not. I could tell that this conversation was not going to solve the problem so invited him to stop out and take care of this as easily as he claimed it would be. He then told me I wasn’t worth the trip out, and then he called me a problem customer. His lack of accountability drove me through the roof and I told him I would have an electrician come out and fix it AND if it was his fault I would send him the bill. He then flipped out on me and told me that he would put a lien on my house and if I called back he would call the cops.
Luckily my wife has a cooler head than me and sent a certified check to the company realizing it was not worth jeopardizing the sale of our house because of a $ 850 hack job. We did have an electrician come in and fix the problem that they had caused. The irony of it was it wasn’t their fault! The previous home owner had faulty wiring in the basement and the radon mitigation system tapped into it while hooking up the fan. The electrician showed us where the problem was and it immediately evident what the problem was. The electrician also said that if a licensed electrician had performed the work they would noted all the wiring that wasn’t up to code. The real issue was that Rocky Mountain Radon saw it and ignored it. Then when it was a problem they had no customer service sense to help solve a problem. Instead they threatened to thwart the sale of our house and call the cops. No professionalism, no commitment to quality work, and ultimately the worst customer support in the face problems.

These guys are great. Not only were they the least expensive of all the companies I called, they did a perfect job. Don the owner is great and explained in details everything he was doing and how everything worked. I would definitely recommend this company.
