This is our 2nd stay here(the first was 2 years ago). The first time was ok with no issues. But this trip has been extremely stressful. We parked our RV and truck here for 2 nights. My wife’s 88 year old mother was having eye surgery in Yuba City(15 miles away), so my wife brought her car to the park so she could take her to surgery at 6:00 a.m. the next morning. Within 15 minutes, the park host showed up and informed us we owed an additional $ 15.00 for the second car. He accused my wife of speeding and not stopping when she entered into the park(which she didn’t do and there is no stop sign), that she had been in the park longer then 15 minutes with the car(which she had not been) and that he told us last year of the rule of the second car(which we were not here last year and we had never had a discussion with him regarding a second car). We ended up having to drive the car to Yuba City that night and making extra trips the next morning. And we are the only people staying in the campground right now. All the other spaces are empty. We will not be staying at this park again. Greed is really a bad thing. As far as staying here with an RV, remember that there is no electric and you have to drive to Yuba City to dump.

There’s a small swimming sand area just down from the boat launch area. If you walk towards the boat launch to ur immediate left you’ll see a small clearing into a trail. Follow this and it leads to a sandy area where people can swim off of. But beware esp if your bringing children there’s tons of rattlesnakes, ticks, animals around. But needless to say you are on the feather river so you should already be prepared for that if you live in the area. There’s tons of fishes, and the water is clear cold and clean.(By clean I mean if you look down you can see your feet and small fishes swimming around you, but of course this isn’t Hawaii it’s not a crystal lake with white sand) As for the rest of the camping stuff we didn’t really do that, was just looking for a cool swimming spot. There’s a really helpful older gentlemen who patrols the area. Extra star for that.

We love camping and fishing here. It is local yet so peaceful and secluded. The camp ranger Jim is very helpful and makes the whole experience a safe outing.

we also tent-camped here because we were coming from san francisco and needed a place to stay overnight to make our 8am hike appointment the following morning at the sutter buttes. this place is still $ 10/night as of 11÷8÷08. there is potable water. there are port-o-johns. there is self registration. there was a garbage can and a picnic table. but it was also very quiet(aside from some stupid RV’s generator). we woke in the morning to a gorgeous sunrise over the lake full of egrets and beautiful low-hanging fog after a night of intermittent rain. we heard an owl hooting all through the night. a very nice and inexpensive place to spend an evening and if we didn’t have to be up so early the next morning i would have liked to explore the lake a bit more.

We camped here for 2 days and 1 night because it was half way between our first day hike at Table Mtn and the following day hike at Sutter Buttes. Plus it’s damn cheap at $ 10/night as of 4÷1÷07. There is a reason it’s cheap though. Nothing much there. You pay at the campsite host before you enter the park. Pick a spot driving down the middle road. We got space #22. It’s about 100 yards from a pit toilet. There is a faucet for running water at our campsite. There are plenty of tables nearby to eat at and a view of the river not too far away. This is the cheap-bastard way of camping, not for everyone and glad it was only for 1 night. my pics above.
