I am so grateful to have found this store. Anyone else would have likely destroyed or damaged a prized memory while charging me more and explaining less. Justin fixed a painting my mother made for me when I was 10 years old. The canvas had been heavily warped by water damage from a flood, but he carefully weighed it down and steamed it flat over the course of nearly a week. He was up-front and honest about the possible risk to the piece, carefully explaining every step in the process in the way only a retired engineer can. After the successful repair, he suggested a series of frames that were less than half of my stated budget because they complimented the piece better, but also taking time to show me several of the other more expensive options. He even talked me down from a more expensive frame, and he talked me out of trimming the edges off the piece(I had an urge to make it smaller, and to remove the damaged corners which the frame eventually covered) as they were a part of my Mom’s original vision. Again, he could have charged me to do extra work, but he instead talked me out of making an unrecoverable error. A different store would have cut the piece without asking questions and made money off of my eventual disappointment. He was right on every count, and I’m glad I listened to him. The piece now sits flat in a frame that was literally made for it. Because it is flat, the painting sits away from the glass comfortably protected so the paint will never stick. It is also backed with additional support material, which Justin added without charging, which provides additional protection against future warping. My mother’s work looks amazing, and I am proud to display it now for reasons above the purely sentimental. I have another painting of hers for him to frame, and I will be taking it in today. ArtSpace is a Livermore treasure, and I hope you find it like I did.

I love Art Space Gallery & Custom Framing. I went in for a simple matte board cut into an 8×8 frame. The cut was around 5×7 so he had very little room to make it work. But he did, and I liked that he took his time on it and not rush through it. Prior to going there I went to Michaels and Aaron’s Brothers and they didn’t do the cut right and there were extra cuts that I can clearly see. And they wanted to charge me 25 – 30 bucks for that cut. But he Art Space didn’t. He charged me $ 7.50 and I felt bad for all the work he did. I tried to pay him $ 10 but he declined and gave me my change. It’s not the price that would make me go back here but the work quality and good work.

Justin not only matted and framed my southwestern print beautifully, he also took the time to explain the materials he used and the steps he took to safeguard against oxidation and other damage. All of his materials are selected to preserve the art: the gasket sealer, the glass(three options), the matting, the backboard, and the paper backing. He also attached a high quality wire and brackets for hanging. His workmanship and materials resulted in a higher calibre product than the admittedly nice pieces I have had custom-framed at Way Up Art and Frame. He has a large machine in the shop. Not sure what it’s called, but it produces Giclee prints from a digital file. I have a high resolution digital image I’d like to print and display, so I may go back to try that some day. I also enjoyed browsing the jewelry — a nice variety — and the various clay pots and glass creations(bowls, bulbs, balls, thermometers, etc.). I bought some earrings at half price. I also purchased a small Galileo thermometer made of glass, with floating balls. I hung it in the shade on our patio, and it’s accurate within about 5 degrees of local temp(summer months). ArtSpace also sells music, ready for upload. Very nice selection of meditation music. I didn’t buy any, though. I came away happy to share my positive experiences with this small — and previously overlooked — shop across from Pete’s Coffee in downtown Livermore.

Lovely store! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I recently had a print framed and they did a beautiful job. Nan, the owner, spent ample time with me picking out just the right mat and frame to compliment my print. When I picked it up, I received a hand written card thanking me for my business. Personal touches such as this mean a lot. In addition to framing they also carry a nice selection of jewelry and other items, if you’re in need of a one-of-a-kind gift. They stock unique greeting cards too. It’s nice to have a place like this in downtown Livermore. I’ll be back:)

This is a very small shop but with some interesting things. I especially liked the jewelry, several different types, some local artists. The layout was a bit crowded but probably no choice with the small space. The woman working there was very nice and very knowledgeable. I couldn’t find anything to buy this time, but I will go back in few weeks to see if they get new merchandise.

I cant say enough about this darling store! I always go here for my birthday gifts! I can find just about everyone in my life some kind of offering from Nan and Justin’s shop. One of my favorite affordable gifts are the beautiful magnetic bracelets for men or women– so chic! I just bought a pair of the laser cut wood earrings that are incredible. I tell lots of people about his gem of a place! check it out!

Love this shop… a nice selection of hand done pottery, and jewelry, and framed and unframed art. The owner is charming and knowledgeable! I bought a pair of pretty Holly Yashi earrings, and was pleased to hear she has her studio in Humbolt County, and hires local jewelers. I would happily go back for that unique item!
