Our house had worn out wood on the front of our house. We had Golden State Stucco take care of adding stucco to replace the wood. We had a great experience with them. Gina in the office was terrific. She was always prompt in returning emails and answering any questions. Kirt was wonderful. He met with my husband and explained the job to him. They accommodated late changes we had. They did a great job of blending the new stucco with the old stucco. They made recommendations for things we didn’t even think about. It was so much fun coming home to a brand new house… The difference is amazing. We would definitely recommend them. I’m not one of those Unilocalers who posts about every experience but Golden State Stucco deserved a great review. UPDATE: we just had our house painted the front of the house looks great and you can’t tell old stucco from new stucco. We also had a large dog door cover up and now that it’s painted, you can’t tell where it was.

I met with 5 different stucco contractors/companies before finding Kirk. I had a very specific look in mind; I wanted smooth stucco with a Tuscan look. Two of the contractors weren’t able to do anything special, just basic(textured) stucco & no Tuscan molting, despite websites that suggested otherwise. Two promised me the world, aspirations that were reflected in their outrageous bids but weren’t covered under their warranties. And one who told me what I should do because my taste was extravagant and wasn’t realistic or attainable. Ahhh, if he could see the house now, what a fool he would be. Kirk was incredibly fair & honest about what to expect. He guided me through every decision without ever saying«no.» Instead, he talked me through the pros & cons of my choices, suggesting other options where appropriate. To achieve my smooth-Tuscan look, he suggested we use Akrotique, an acrylic sealer designed to create a rustic, mottled finish similar to old plaster. Thanks to Kirk, our house now has that timeless«Old World» seen at Italian estates, except it only took him an afternoon to achieve. Thanks to Kirk’s tricks & suggestions with architectural foam, he turned our gable, which looked like an underdeveloped limb, into something grand. Kirk was a regular on the job site, directing his crew & translating my dream into manageable instructions. Thanks to him, I have the look of my dreams and I couldn’t be happier.

This is the second time we have used Golden State Stucco to resurface our house. The first time was in 2008 doing three sides of our house and this year finishing the back of our house. Both times doing an amazing job in all three phases of the stucco process. Ceasar did the first phase of the stucco process, taking care laying down the felt paper and using a thick rubber sticky tape around the windows and sliding glass door. Every edge of the window was sealed to prevent water damage and then new chicken wire was placed to have the stucco adhere to. This phase is important to get a tight seal around your windows and doors to prevent dry rot and Ceasar is the man you need on your job site to insure it’s done right. The brown coat and finial stucco phase were done by a group of 6 men. These guys are truly masters, we wanted the stucco to look like it was air brushed on or sponged on instead of swirled from left to right or right to left. They really took there time in doing the final phase and it looks perfect, and we get so many compliments on how it looks. The whole stucco project was done through Cynthia, who coordinated everything with you and explained all the processes of the stucco project. If I had concerns I would take pictures and e-mail them to Cynthia and she took care of any problems that I had. She was really great to work with and deserves 5 stars alone. I met Kirt several times during our stucco project and he really has a passion for his job, he will go out of his way to make sure my needs are met and explains everything in detail. The whole process was stress free thanks to Kirt and his staff, and our house looks amazing.

If all contractors were this good… what wonderful world it would be. Golden State did our entire exterior. They demo’d some wood siding, repaired some existing stucco, and some owner-inflicted damage to the building, and installed a weep screed. The work is quality work, done on in a timely fashion. That’s all I usually expect from a contractor, and it’s an unfortunately reality that so many just fall short. Golden State met all my expectations in this regard. What really set them apart though, was everything they did beyond just the quality work. Kirk quickly recognized that we didn’t really know what we wanted, and was super-helpful with ideas; both big ones like color and style, and small ones, like adding outlets and reconfiguring lighting while it’s cheap to do so. And here’s a tip for folks considering Golden State based on these reviews… all of the reviews from GoldenState’s customers are 5 stars. The negative reviews are from people who weren’t even customers, but were griping about the office staff. All the customers are happy, and a few random crank callers were unhappy. That’s pretty simple math in my book. I won’t go so far as saying these reviews are contrived, cuz who knows… anything can happen. But over the course of the work done, and numerous changes and constant indecision by us, the *entire* staff was nothing but friendly and helpful. They dropped samples of shapes, textures, and colors off to our house so many times that we started to feel guilty about abusing the privilege, but every time it was«Hey, it’s no big deal… we want you to be happy with the result.»

Thank you to Kirk and his expert team of artisans. They have completed the first part of my windows project for my residential home. As all professional and licensed contractors, it was very simple to do business with Golden State Stucco. Kirk conducted a free estimate walk through of the project and provided a fast around time with the proposal. The price was very competitive and met my budget. Once I approved it, they immediately set a date and they showed up on time and began work right away. This project took two weeks to complete. On the first day: — They torn down my horrid wood panels from the 1970’s and clean up any old /loose debris. Completed visual inspection for any terminate or major dry rot. — Laid out the Jumbo Tex weather-resistive barrier and wire mesh netting. — Applied the scratch coat and add on metal window barriers to secure the existing windows. For the next week and a half: Allowed the scratch coat to cure; keeping it damp by periodically misting with water from my garden hose. As with all scratch coats, slow, damp curing provides the greatest strength. Allow the coat to dry slowly. That’s the secret! On the final day: — Applied the new stucco and matched my existing texture. I was very pleased that they were able to match it. At first, I was worried… but Kirk took care of me. — Cleaned up all their mess and made sure my front yard landscaping wasn’t damaged. I’ve worked with some poor contractors that didn’t care about their work surroundings. In this case, I was very impressed with their attention to detail. Today, I am proud to have them as one of many Elite contractors for all my future home projects in the field of stucco and exterior work — Earning five stars for this accomplishment. Special Thank to Cynthia — friendly and fast service: invoicing online and sending photo attachments of the project.
