On the Vine Catering

On The Vine was perfect. We worked with Jill to help plan our wedding. We didn’t have a coordinator but they made things easy for us, gave us some great options and advice and they worked extremely well with the venue. Plus, my favorite part was that the food was amazing! The butternut squash ravioli is the best thing I’ve tasted in a while and I don’t usually like butternut squash anything. And the tri-​tip with the pepper gravy was killer. I’m still salavating over it. Bottom line: On The Vine is a great catering company that I would recommend to anyone getting married or otherwise having any kind of event.

My husband and I :) just got to experience our wedding with the help of Jill and her team. There is a lot to think about when putting together a wedding without a planner and for those brides, On the Vine is the perfect match. Jill was wonderful to work with when deciding the menu (recommend the Hawaiian menu-​lots of compliments) and then her Catering Manager was AMAZING. He was on site for our wedding, they were friendly, attentive and very accommodating, especially with a troublesome venue. If it wasn’t for them I would have been lost. Worth the cost. Recommended to all. Lots of compliments from all our guests.

She was able to demonstrate the depth of her experience and professionalism from the beginning to the end of On the Vine Caterings services. Upon interviewing with multiple caterers Jill gave us the most confidence that our wedding will go smoothly.
She works with your budget and guides you through the process.
The day of she demonstrated her leadership through coordinating multiple efforts (one example of this was that we were running late on schedule and I had asked if her staff can corral all the guest and get them to their seats, before I knew it, we were right back on schedule).

My husband and I just got married on May 1^st. We choose on the vine catering first because of Jill Black. She is awesome and you can tell she loves her job. Second was because of the food. So we were not surprised when all of our guests commented on how great the food was. Especially the tri tip. WOW.
Then what made it even better is Jill made sure we ate by bringing food to us because we had a buffet and she didn’t want us to have to get up.

Jill and her team were fantastic. Weeks after our wedding my father still talked about the wonderful bartenders and staff. Hiring On The Vine was one of the best decisions we made for our big day! On top of everything, the food was positively delicious. Jill was always available and worked within our budget without sacrificing what we wanted on our big day. I worked with Jill at On the Vine to plan my October 2014 wedding. Jill set up a great tasting for me and my family. She chatted away with us as we enjoyed the great food.
Jill met with me and my fiancé a few months before the wedding at the venue to do a walk through to figure out how to set everything up. Jill had catered many weddings at my venue and was very helpful with suggestions on how to set up the room and other misc. tips!
On the wedding night everything went perfect. Jill was there to make sure everything went smooth. The servers were wonderful! My grandma needed help serving her food and getting back to the table, one of the servers helped her along the entire way! I cannot express how happy this made my mom!

My mom, fiancé and I worked with Jill for our June wedding. She was top notch! From the food tasting to answering all of my questions to the day of, she was absolutely on top of it. Anything we needed, she did and gave great suggestions along the way. The day of the wedding, she had her crew organized and professional and I knew our day would go on without any problems. We worked with Jill to plan our outdoor wedding at the Livemore Historic Site in May 2013.
Jill’s experience and know-​how proved to make our wedding day successful and fun. Everything was expertly prepared, laid out, and decorated as we requested. She even suggested modifications to our initial set up to improve the ease of transitioning from one event to the next.
The staff were always helpful, but never intrusive.
Set up and clean up went smoothly. We had no complaints from the venue.
Jill even pointed out a major issue with another one of our vendor’s product at our final run through the day before which really saved the day.
The food was delicious. We received many compliments from our guests and some even asked for recipes! (The Devils on Horseback are delicious).
On the Vine Catering worked with us to select a menu that met all the dietary needs of our guests. They were open to modifying some of their recipes to make them vegan or to change ingredients we knew guests were allergic to. And their years of experience helped us hand-​pick a menu that suited our tastes and budget.
On the Vine went beyond our expectations, by working with us on outside food and beverages being brought to the site or being prepared on site.
We would definitely use their services again.

On the Vine catered our August wedding and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the quality of the food and the dedication of the staff. The fare, set-​up, and service were divine! Jill went above and beyond our expectations and orchestrated our celebration without a hitch. Her keen attention to detail and stellar trouble shooting skills were unparalleled. She sincerely listened to our concerns about budget and was crucial in helping us to fulfill our wedding vision within our means.
The process of working with Jill was nothing short of fantastic. She really takes the «daunting» out of «daunting task». From start to finish it was pleasant and surprisingly low key– not pretentious at all. She checked in with us regularly and there were no gray areas about menu or cost. Jill is not only professional, but super friendly… I know it might sound strange to say, but I actually miss her! The tastings and menu planning were delicious and exciting. Jill helped us to customize our menu and happily obliged to our special requests. The tastings translated seamlessly into the finished product. In fact, On the Vine even surprised us with extras. We had barbequed oysters as one of our appetizers (with a Chardonnay bacon butter sauce– heaven!) and we were also topped off with clams and mussels at no extra charge. Again, the food and service were AMAZING. Months later, we continue to receive complements.
Another extremely helpful aspect of On the Vine, is that it’s a one-​stop-​shop. They partner with Pleasanton Rentals and help to coordinate all of the set-​up/​break-​down and décor needs. The tables at our wedding were stunning. I was misty eyed when I saw how beautifully the staff had put everything together. Jill also paired us with a local pastry chef and loaned us the risers to set up the cupcake display. Again, above and beyond!
I would recommend On the Vine Catering without reservation to anyone who needs catering, large or small. They far exceeded our expectations and made the most special day of our life even more memorable. We can’t thank you enough Jill and staff!

We are event planners and we worked with Jill and Dave on a Bat Mitzvah Celebration a couple weeks ago. We were very impressed with the high level of service and food quality.
