That was absolutely ridiculous. An older gentleman and myself was actually berated by JoAnn M.(the casheer) because of something that we had apparently said. JoAnn starting to chastise us because«it is Sunday» and we should not use sarcasm and playful banter. Or something of that sort. To be honest as soon as she started proselytizing to us I just tuned her out and left. The older gentleman caught up with me in the parking lot and as me what was that all about, and what did we say or do in order to deserve a lecture. We figured JoAnn was angry about working on a day that she considers to be a sabbath. It would have explained how carelessly she was tossing our food into the shopping cart. Food that I purchased in order to feed my family. JoAnn was outrageously rude and disrespectful. Saying to us «Who’s side are you on anyhow?»

Aldi(it’s actually not«Aldi’s,» contrary to popular belief!) is a discount grocery store chain, originally opened in Germany. Boxes of food are on pallets, you need a quarter to get a cart(which you get back), and you bag your own groceries.(Apparently, in Germany, it’s customary to bag your own groceries wherever you go). This is one of the nicer Aldi stores I’ve been to… friendly staff, good selection, fresh produce(for the most part), etc. I buy very specific things here, such as avocados, fresh flowers, frozen fish, etc., and still go to Wegmans, but I recommend this place to shop at least once a week.
