I needed to have another EMG due to consistent pain and numbness in my left arm and hand. My neurologist suggested an EMG to rule out cervical nerve problem. I have had an EMG five times and dreaded the test. I am pleased that my neurologist(Elizabeth Smith) recommended Dr. Laura Corrigan, Advanced EMG of Michigan, to do my EMG for several reasons. I would like to add that I’ve had a lot of residual effects from the West Nile Virus since 2012(meningitis and encephalitis). I have been treated by a lot of physicians. So, first of all, Dr. Corrigan actually knew a lot about the West Nile Virus and the effects it has on the central nervous system. Secondly, she has a private practice, which was important to me because I do not like big medical centers, clinics or hospitals. I was also impressed with the brand new facility; everything was modern and updated; including the equipment. And third, I researched Dr. Corrigan before my appointment on 1÷28÷15 to make sure I was getting the best doctor to do my testing. I found out that Dr. Corrigan is a MD, has been practicing neurodiagnostic medicine for more than 11 years. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology(in both General Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine). Additionally, she is Board Certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine(ABEM) and she was a senior staff physician at Henry Ford Hospital. I was greeted by a friendly staff(Becky and Stacy) upon entering the facility, which made me feel relaxed and less anxious. Another plus, there was no wait time. Dr. Corrigan thoroughly tested the nerves in my arm and hand with minimal discomfort(unlike the other experiences that I have had in the past). And my anxiety level was very low because she was so friendly; as a matter of fact we talked through the entire examination. I could not believe when it was over and even said, «That’s it?» She actually spent over an hour with me, answered questions and thoroughly discussed her findings and recommendations. Needless to say, I highly recommend Advanced EMG of Michigan(Dr. Laura Corrigan) for all the reasons mentioned. Plus she accepts most insurances(accepted my Medicare and BCN insurance). I particularly liked the small, relaxing office and even drove from the Royal Oak area(22 minutes) to her Livonia office(she also does EMG in West Bloomfield). I hope this review helps you to make a good choice if you need an EMG. Thank you for reading.
