I, too had an Appt. For 11:30 and didn’t get in until nearly noon. While my husband and I both had appointments, he wasn’t called until 12:15, only to find out he was not able to give because he had received a shingles shot within 30 days. That was not in the booklet. I think they should post something as you walk in, since that is being promoted so much! This is about the 3rd time we’ve had to wait! Like the previous reviewer, I hate to complain, but really??? We have donated at a local church before and it was a snap. We probably won’t be back to the Livonia site again and will be looking for somewhere closer! P. S. The lady who usually checks people in at Livonia has never been very friendly, unlike Helen(who we will miss)! They were also told by someone who appeared to be in charge(1÷30÷15) to turn away walk ins because they were so backed up. This upset one man, who had received a call to come in to donate only to be turned away! Poor management if you ask me.

Although conveniently located, the Livonia Red Cross Blood Donation Center is poorly managed from a donor time management standpoint. I’ve had to walk out three separate times after making appointments, then waiting there for at least an hour before they would even start the donor questionnaire. The RN’s there clearly have the priority of taking care of people on the table, they treat the donor questionnaire portion as «secondary» activity for them. The sad part is, this questionnaire activity should be done by a non-RN dedicated to the task, rather than as a side activity for an RN who should be taking the donation. Once you get to the table things move well, but getting to the donation table takes excessively long at this location. I recommend you find a drive at a local church or business instead.

Pretty nice facility and a pleasant staff as well! Just as attentive and efficient as the staff at the Berkeley center. A tip I sent: With a noon appointment, it looks as if they have a staffing shortage. I haven’t been attended to yet and it’s 1230. I think a different donor might have gotten my slot — whatever. I drove 45 miles to help save lives, not complain about waiting. All new faces for me — I usually go to the Berkeley Center to donate blood — but with my last-minute availability, Berkeley was already booked up. Like Berkeley, this location also does whole blood donations, as well as Apheresis. Really, we need more people in southeast Michigan to make an appointment, roll up their sleeves, and help others. My dear friend is currently undergoing treatment for Leukemia and in a small way, I am able to help keep him alive. Makes me feel good inside. Thanx for reading!
