I’ve been meaning to try leftie’s for while now and I’m glad I finally stopped in. I ordered their best seller, the cheese steak, and it exceeded my expectations. Soft fresh bread with high quality steak and melted cheese, topped with peppers that were a little spicy, onions, and mushrooms. It was perfect. This blew all the other sandwich and sub shops out of the water. Get there.

I had the 12″ cheesesteak with mushrooms, cherry peppers and extra cheese. I also ordered the curly fries which were ok. The main attraction was the cheesesteak and boy it did not disappoint. I added steak sauce but it didn’t really need it.
The next I’m in the area I will try something else but the cheesesteak hoagie’s are by far the best I have had in the Detroit metro area.

Oh dear Lord. I dream about Lefty’s.
Have you ever had a really good cheesesteak? No, I mean REALLY good? Like set your sub down, close your eyes, grip the table and wallow in ecstasy good? Well if you haven’t (or even if you think you have), you need to try this place.
Order with double cheese, it’s a must. And try the peppers! Just a touch of heat, but mostly just great flavor. The meat is great and very well trimmed. I think I’ve only ever pulled one bite of gristle out of all of my sandwiches.
Chili cheese fries were decent but worth skipping, in my opinion. I’d rather save the belly room for more of that gooey, meaty cheesesteak!

Deeeeeelicious! We were in the area picking up balloons for our balloon decorating business and have noticed this place on the corner a few times. We were hungry today & thought we’d check it out. Was great!!! I got a 12″ with extra cheese & mushrooms and my fiancé got the 12″ with extra cheese & spicy peppers. We loved it! If you like hot stuff, get the peppers (they will make you sweat… lol). We each only got through about ½ of the hoagies & split an order of fries. We will stop by again next time we are in the area.

Happened to be in the Livonia area for work so I had to stop by Lefty’s because it’s been on my list of places to check out and man did it cure my HANGRY-​itis! One of the best cheesesteak I’ve had in MI #CheeseisLife
Tip: Add extra cheese and peppers on it to give it that kick!

Went Friday evening 4÷1÷16, first time, was want an good cheese steak sandwich. Boy was it good and hot and fresh. Had fries and drink and was just completely satisfied. This is one of those places you have to visit once a week.

I’m in the area on business today and decided to give this place a try. The guys working here were very welcoming when I walked in, immediately greeting me and assisting with my order.
Exhibit A: Guest service is on point.
I ordered the cheesesteak, (and on the recommendation of other reviewers, asked for extra cheese), with a side of curly fries. I must admit that the cheesesteak was one of the best I’ve had in Michigan. Now, I’m not a cheesesteak connoisseur, but my order was made fresh and was worth the short wait. Mmmmm… tasty.
Exhibit B: The cheesesteak was fire.
The Final Verdict: I will return if I’m in this area again.

What a great find. A friend took me here for my first time, got the 12″ cheesesteak and curly fries and couldn’t believe how good it was.
I’ve been back twice in the past month and ordered the same thing every time. Everything on the menu looks good.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the owner is always there and not afraid to get his hands dirty to help customers. Highly recommended!

I was craving chili cheese fries and according to Unilocal this was the closest location. It’s on the corner of Middlebelt and Six mile Rd. They have their own parking lot.
We came after 1pm and the place was pretty empty. We ordered the 12 inch cheesesteak with mushroom ($ 0.65), chili cheese fries, and a Pepsi. The cheesesteak was not bad, nice and gooey but it just didn’t hit the spot for me. I probably wouldn’t come back. The chili cheese fries were just a disappointment. The fries were undercooked and the cheese was nacho cheese.
The cashier was very friendly though! Even stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok. He was very polite too.

Cheese steak is AWESOME!!! I love it. Corned Beef on Rye with mustard was just as good; could have used more meat. However, I will be returning. Only next time I will be ordering two additional sandwiches one to eat for the drive home and one for when I get home. great food and service. Clean restaurant. Ample parking. I’m pleased.

Seriously? This has got to be the worst steak and cheese sub in the metro area.
The steak is chopped up to the extreme so that I wasn’t sure if I was eating steak or ground beef. Then they melt that cheese into the meat and mix it up so it’s this mass of sticky, melted mush. It didn’t taste good, if there was mushrooms in the meat like asked for I never seen them because they must of been pulverized into dust, and I know there wasn’t any peppers on there like I asked for.
Maybe some other items are better, because this so called steak sub is just a waste of money. I’d never get buy it again.

Not sure if it’s new owners or just the owner’s son taking over the business, but there’s definitely a new crew running the place. They’re just as friendly and enthusiastic as the old crew.
Good news is, the food is just as good. They have even introduced a large size hoagie, which I am a huge fan of. They have also added curly fries to the menu. I tried these last time, but I think the regular fries go better with the cheesesteak.
Lefty’s remains one of the best places to grab an inexpensive meal in the area. I haven’t had a better cheesesteak in Michigan.

Good solid Cheesesteak. Plenty of beef. The Xtra cheese and mushrooms were an add on, but essential to a great Cheesesteak. I’m not a big fan of the nickel and dime program where you are charged $.65 for items on your sandwich and my rating reflects that.
The Rueben Sandwich was very good, but was a couple dollars more than the Cheesesteak.
The fries were good, hot and freshly made, as were all our items.
All the staff were super friendly and accommodating.
I’m going 4 stars, and I’ll be back…

Passing this restaurant too many times when going to my daughter’s I finally stopped. Of course I read the reviews before going so I had an idea what to expect. I should have taken someones advice to get extra cheese or add the same cheese as the chili cheese fries. There is so much meat! Hot, tasty fresh bun, fantastic! The chili cheese fries were great, super hot and tasty. I will be definitely be going back. This is a must try place.

Excellent cheesesteaks with the best customer service around.
As everyone else has suggested, order your cheesesteak with extra cheese. I’ve never ordered it «regular» style as not to be disappointed. My friends order it with peppers and mushrooms, as well as hot peppers.
The owner is always there (does he sleep?) and he’s super-​friendly and thorough when taking your order. The food doesn’t take long to come out. And it is delicious. So, so delicious.
Whenever I’m in Livonia, I’m always thinking about Lefty. Sorry, husband!
