Running Right Heating & Cooling

During the «great flood of 2014», we were the lucky recipients of about 2 feet of water/​sewage in our basement.
Our furnace didn’t react well to be covered in poo-​water.
«Luckily», our neighbor’s furnace guy (Running Right) agreed to pop next door to take a look at ours after they were done with our neighbor. He quickly diagnosed that the circuit board needed to be replaced, but everything else appeared to be OK. He took down the furnace info and our contact info and promised the owner would call us back with a price and timeframe.
So far so good. Even better when Mark, the owner, called back later that same evening to let us know that he could get the part, could install it the next day and what the price would be. The price was a little high, but given the situation I didn’t feel like it was unreasonable so we agreed.
The next day Running Right’s crew showed up to replace the board. They were hours late, but not a big deal since my wife was home continuing the clean-​up. Then the problems started. They «had the wrong part» and needed to leave and come back. OK — not sure how that happens since the original repair guy took down every detail of the furnace, but I guess it happens. Hours later, they show back up and inform my wife that the new part is another $ 100 more than the agreed upon price for the job. They hold it up to her and tell her that if she doesn’t agree to the new price right now, they’ll just leave and go on to the next job.
So, one of two things happened here: 1) They make a mistake and expect their customers to pay for their error or 2) they took advantage of our situation (we were hardly the only person impacted by the flood, so we’d be waiting weeks for a new company to come out and even look at it) to gouge us for an extra $ 100.
Either way, slimy business practices. I recommend you stay far away.
