Delicious & reasonably priced family dining, huge portions, super friendly waitresses & staff. I came for the Ruben, which was hearty and authentic. It came with the best chicken soup I’ve had in a while, it was so good I wanted to drink the broth. We had a party of 7& were quickly accomodated even though it was pretty busy, everyone enjoyed their meal.

Ate there today. We had the kale chicken salad and the char-broiled cheeseburger. It was very good! Service was good as well.

Great food, Darcy is my favorite waitress. Ask for her you won’t be disappointed. I never have been dissatisfied with the food.

We were looking for a place for breakfast last weekend, and decided to try Thomas’s instead of Bob Evans or Ihop. And I’m very glad we did. The place was very clean and nice inside. The service was fantastic. And the food was great. I had cherry pecan pancakes with sausage links and their hash brown casserole, and they were all excellent. I’d highly recommend Thomas’s. At least for breakfast, I can’t speak to their other food.

What happened to this place? The food used to be really good. The last two times I have been, the food was not good at all. I had stuffed cabbage and another time I had breaded pork chops. Also, they no longer provide a bread basket. You have to ask for bread, and then they just give you two slices of rye for two people. The mashed potatoes are so watery that I thought they must be instant. When I mentioned it to the hostess, she acted like I was wrong and said that no-one has ever mentioned it. I will not be going back here again.

This is the kind of place that a sophisticated diner can enjoy along side their meat and potatoes-eating grandparents, but wannabes who are incapable of making value judgments beyond Zagat reviews would not be caught dead in. Stuffed cabbage was the best part of the Polish trio, it had a great deal of dill that really added well to the overall flavor. Sauerkraut was also amazing. Even the house salad was good, featuring house made ranch dressing. City chicken was a tad dry– as if it was just fried, perhaps skipping the brazing. In general, this place seems to have more fresh, made from scratch food than most of its peers.

Not being from the area, we decided on Thomas’s Family Dining by the reviews on Unilocal. This is a pretty large restaurant, with a nice atmosphere and very pleasant and attentive service. I had a club sandwich and fries, both of which were very good. My daughter had a turkey Reuben, which she really liked. We split a rice pudding for dessert, which was excellent. Prices are reasonable too. I recommend it.

I’ve been to Thomas’ a few times. I would stay away from the city chicken, potato pancakes — these were well below subpar in my book. I would recommend chicken fried chicken, stuffed cabbage, pierogi and any of their soups. The dill pickle soup when they have it was especially good. So, why do I give them a 2? It had to do with the last time I was there, which was this past weekend. We ordered … we got our salads and within a minute of delivering our salads the main meal was being delivered along with the appetizer. We had no room for all of these plates and our dinners now have to sit until we finish our salad, which in turn means you are eating luke warm food. Still, at this point, I’m upset, but it’s okay. While all this was delivered, they sat an older couple next to our table. They proceeded to take their phone out and play music loudly at their table. We now had their music, the restaurant music, the noise of the restaurant … making it uncomfortable … no where near relaxing … and our table of four now could barely hear each other speak. We told the waitress … she did nothing and laughed. We then asked for the manager. He did ask them to please not play their music. He left. They turned it right back up. We packaged up our meal and left. I won’t be back, and I don’t recommend eating here. Take out would be fine. The manager knew we were upset, and did nothing. The person we took and paid our bill to asked how dinner was, and we told them … and still nothing.

Friends and I came here for brunch on a lovely Sunday afternoon. The place was packed but there happened to be a booth for the four of us! We looked over the menu and got to ordering a variety of menu items — Mediterranean omelette, blueberry crepes, steak & eggs, and country biscuits and gravy. I chose the country biscuits and gravy which surprisingly was an enormous amount of food. The gravy came in a small cup with two super soft and buttery biscuits on the side. Then I got two eggs, bacon, and a small cup of the hash brown casserole. The gravy was finger-licking delicious — the bacon strips crispy thick, and the hash brown casserole was exactly what the waitress described — cheesy potatoes in a cup. My eating companions enjoyed their food as well. The waitstaff was very friendly and service was quick. Definitely coming back to try their Polish food at some point!

The first visit they forgot the pecans in my cherry pecan waffles. The second time they put awful olives in my boyfriends Omelette and said, «they’re the same as everytime.» Joe knows Olives. And he knows they were different the 1st time. Management argued about the olives instead of just taking the uneaten Omelette off the bill. No thanks Thomas. You should stick with trains.

This is my new favorite breakfast place. The food was delicious, large portions, service was excellent, and reasonable prices. I tried the eggs Benedict, the eggs were perfectly poached with runny yolk and solid whites. Expertly prepared homemade hash browns, inside fully cooked and outside was crispy. Love the hollandaise sauce too! I will definitely be back, again and again.

I see why this place is busy. Nice are, good parking and a wide variety of food. Cheery staff. I had a tuna sandwich, tasted good. Don’t understand why places feel obligated to use an entire can of tuna. When you make a sandwich at home, how much do you use? I get about 3 sandwiches out of one can. Okay, am I cheap? Don’t think so, I do actually taste the tuna on the bread. My friend had chicken fried steak which looked quite good and could get extra gravy for his potatoes. Nice place.

This was my first time here and I must admit I was very pleased. I went with the Polish plate which was a good helping of food. Even came with a nice garden sale. At other places a garden salad is nothing more than se greens and a cucumber on the side. This was a large salad with carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons. I was quite impressed! The main entrée was very tasty. Some polish food tastes like cardboard, not here. The lack of star is due to the service. Our waitress was very slow to get refills and double slow to get our check. Maybe an off day? The prices really weren’t that bad either. For $ 14, the Polish plate filled me up. I’ll definitely be back.

Friendly service, delicious comfort food, and reasonably priced. Broasted chicken, french onion soup, and the salads were all pretty excellent. Also seems like pretty authentic polish food(although this is coming from a Taiwanese guy so take that with a grain of salt).

This review is really a 3.5 than a four… I came this morning for breakfast. While the menu here is extensive, I would say the breakfast portion is the smallest… I ended up getting the side of biscuits and gravy. It was very good. It came with two good sized biscuits and a generous portion of sausage gravy. The ambiance is very nice. It’s not your normal«coney island» type of setting. I’d say it is a step up. They also serve beer and wine, which isn’t something you always see at a coney island type of restaurant. The thing that really disappointed me was the service. When I was originally shown a table I waited quite awhile for someone to ask what I wanted to drink. The hostess saw I was still waiting and asked if I wanted a cup of coffee… When the waitress did come, she wasn’t the most pleasant. She was more interested in larger parties. Sorry I didn’t come with 8 other people… They have a lot of nice dinner options, so I’m sure I’ll be back. Hopefully the service will be better.

Saturday /Sunday Breakfast. Good luck getting a seat. Get there as early as possible. This place is great, all the way from the wait staff to the food. Everyone loves to look at the little kids that are coming in, in fact all the wait staff has to see what everyone is wearing. Even the manager of the resturaunt is waiting or clearing tables. That is how dedicated they are. Everyone pitches in. The food is always great. Cherry almond pancakes, cinnamon swirl French toast… Chocolate flavored chocolate chip pancakes. Thomas’s is the place to go for breakfast. You might have a small wait… But it is all worth it. Try it!!! You won’t be disappointed!

Better than your average diner or family resturant. We did breakfast and for two people it was wonderful. Good and fast service, knowledgable about their offerings and willing to adjust to take slightly special orders. Offering more than just scrambled eggs — like their Cherry and Walnut and multi-grain toast options. The sausage links were noticeable — not the brown server type — but fresh and flavorful — Sage. Worth trying.

We found this restaurant when we landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport at 8 am. We wanted a good breakfast and were willing to drive 20 minutes. We made a GREATCHOICE! First, our waitress, Pam, was wonderful. She was friendly, helpful, and had a fun personality. I ordered their Polish Skillet. It was delicious! The eggs were fresh and the hash browns(with kielbasa) was very tasty. My brother-in-law had the Sunrise Breakfast(he liked it so much he ordered extra eggs). My sister ordered kielbasa, hash browns, and eggs. She loved the hash browns. Do yourself a favor and go there. It is an AWESOMEBREAKFASTRESTAURANT!

I was looking for an independent breakfast spot while in Livonia on the weekend and was psyched to find Thomas’s Family Restaurant with a little help from a Unilocal search. This family-run place, which shows very little fanfare from the street as you drive up, is housed in a typical mid-century building along this busy strip of Plymouth Road. Nevertheless, it rated a rare 4.5 on Unilocal-town and that is all it took to get my attention. What I found inside was a very classy dining room with accent lighting shining on… believe it or not… some very tasteful contemporary art on the walls. Loved the carpeted floors, the low lighting and the private booths combined with a little Frank Sinatra — Barry Manalow(ouch!) — Roberta Flack(2 out of 3 ain’t bad) piped in on the ceiling speakers to add to the mood of a setting more typical of Birmingham than Livonia! My breakfast was no less amazing than the surprisingly tasteful décor. I chose the Polish omelette complete with delicious chunks of Kielbasa, sautéed onions and peppers and CHERRYWALNUTTOAST recommend by my server. It tasted so good toasted with butter, that I picked a loaf at the checkout counter to take home with me. Thomas’s is one of those rare finds that you will only stumble on with the help of Unilocal.Highly recommended. Fives all day long!

I came back here to eat tonight after having visited it last year while on a business trip. I had the broasted chicken(4.5), mashed potato’s with gravy(4.5), a side salad(4.5) and a slice of Texas toast. I also tried a cup of their split pea soup(4). This place serves very good food. It is one of those rare locally owned restaurants that get it right. I can understand why it has been in business for a long time. The restaurant is the kind if place where you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and not get tired of eating here because it’s good food with a varied menu. Also the table service is very good. When I add up the food scores and then factor in their low prices Thomas deserves a 5. This place is a winner !!!
