It may be the newest but it has to be the best restaurant/pub in Lock Haven. The food was great. There is a huge beer selection. The atmosphere and service were very good, too. I enjoyed the Irish music.

Top Five Things About Broken Axe Brew House 5. Nice ambiance. Good blues/rock playing. Not so dark you can’t see your food and dining partner. Low top tables available. 4. Twenty one beers on tap with a sample option. I’m not even a beer enthusiast, but I really enjoyed being able to taste 5 – 6 different local beers. Other alcohol and sodas are available, but really, why would you want them? 3. Attentive, friendly waitstaff with obvious opinions of the food. We asked for ketchup for the fries and the response was a friendly, yet slightly sarcastic eyeroll and«Do you want salt & pepper too?» I respect that. I do. 2. The locally sourced food. We haven’t experienced the entrees yet(only available on Fridays and Saturdays), but the Bacon Cheddar Burger was awesome. Flattened thin on the grill with a corona of cheddar that had oozed out all around and gotten crispy. Lots of bacon. Drool. The hand-cut pesto fries were tasty too(I didn’t use the ketchup, honest). The local cheese and meat platter was a nice starter. *We’ve returned for a second visit on a Friday and had the short ribs with a red wine and balsamic reduction. Paired with fresh green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. It was food you’d expect from a fine dining restaurant, not a tap room. Tender, flavorful and just the right portion size. And the NUMBERONE top thing: No one under 21 admitted. I’ve already seen the tantrums on their Facebook page from whiny helicopter parents who can’t bring the rugrats. I’ll make you a deal, Broken Axe. You keep this rule and I will promise to stop in for dinner once a week from now on and bring all my out of town guests. You’ve become my favorite spot in town. Keep it up!
