Lockport’s Lincoln Landing is located along the old I & M canal and next to the Gaylord Historic Building. It is a nice setting for a small park and is full of historic information. I love finding little treasures like this. We were there on a weekday, so we almost had the place to ourselves. The view up and down the canal was really scenic. We watched a family of mallards preening on the bank of the canal. Then we walked around reading all the historical markers and communed with a strange statue of Abe Lincoln. It seems like there is always something new to learn about our 16th president. We had already eaten lunch or we would have tried the restaurant in the Gaylord Historic Bldg. This is a really nice site for locals. As we live 40 miles away, I don’t think we will get back here soon, but if we are in the area, we will check it out again, especially in the spring or fall.
