Yeah wanted something different so tried the steak sandwich. It had hard pieces of breading on it. Couldnt do it. Also tried the cream of chicken rice soup … The bottom of the pot I think, it was orange. Watered down. Should of stuck with the beef sandwich and cheese fry … My bad

This place is very hit or miss. Sometimes the food tastes really good and sometimes it is awful. I had a grilled chicken on a pita the other day and it was absolutely awful. The flavoring of the chicken was off and some pieces had a slimy texture. They used tomatoes that were mushy and had definitely gone bad. You can always count on less than friendly customer service. No one in this place smiles and everyone speaks in a monotone fashion. They have the best cheese fries in the area, so I will continue to go there for those, but that’s about it.

great fast food place, this location is packed around lunch time every day and it doesn’t surprise me at all. the staff is super friendly and if you go in there enough they will know you by name. the breaded steak sandwich is out of this world! I would recommend that everyone signs up for their text special of the day like the $ 2 hamburger and fry special they send out cant go wrong

I have to say, I’m shocked this place gets any ratings above 2 stars. I’ve got to assume that most ppl r use to a steady diet of old shoe leather, lathered in grease and washed down with a glass of finely ground gravel. Because that’s the only way I could see this slop receiving decent reviews. I mean, seriously, I’ve been here a few times and each time it has gotten progressively worse. The Italian beef is greasy and chewy, the fries r cold and the dogs taste like rubber. I’ve overheard, whom I assume is the owner, complaining abt portillos cutting into their business in other areas. If that’s the case it’s because their food is done much better and when you’re talking Italian Beefs, Portillos isn’t even close to being the best in Chicago. Focus on improving your food quality and maybe your business will improve. Until then, I’ll make the trek out to Johnnies in Elmwood park any day.

Convenient location off of I-355, the beef Au jus was flavorless i.e. bland. The polish sausage was average. The best part of our meal was the fried mushrooms and zucchini sticks, however they were not spectacular but standard. Likely going to Brown’s Chicken if I find myself in need of a good beef sandwich in Lockport.

Spent $ 25 for burnt onion rings –zucchini — cold greasy fries –3 nuggets in a kids meal and an attitude for the person waiting on me. The bald gentleman always has a chip on his shoulder, never friendly and polite. Must be the owner!!! Most girls that are there are wonderful and polite assuring your order is good. Haven’t been back there in awhile don’t think be going back soon. At this rate McDonald has better quality and that’s poor at best.

When it comes to Italian beef and cheese fries, you really can’t go wrong. Or can you? Pop’s is a spacious, clean, casual restaurant serving fast, greasy food. The beef is really good, as are those cheese fries, but we both asked for hot giardiniera. What we got were sandwiches topped with a pickled jalapeño and celery blend. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the Chicago style Italian beef that we know and love. It could be that we got the wrong pepper mix. Or maybe this is their house style of making hot peppers. Beef joints are a dime a dozen in the Chicago suburbs. I wouldn’t go out of my way for Pop’s, but it’s worthwhile if you’re in the Lockport area.

They have some terrific food. The Italian sausage, beef sandwich and chicken fingers dinner are my favorite, but the burgers and shakes are terrific too. The fries are usually soggy and seem undercooked which is a shame because they do give a generous portion. Our only complaint about going here is that the counter people that take your order are always very crabby and uninviting. I always feel as if I am bothering them when I walk in there. Cook the fries a little longer and put on a smile and you won’t keep us out of there!!!

Not the best beef sandwich in the area, but their hot peppers make up for it. They use a giardinerra of just jalapenos and red pepper flake, I usually love my traditional giardinerra loaded with veggies but I crave this stuff. The hotdogs are sub par, I hate that the cheese dog is a hotdog with a slice of American cheese on it… I prefer hot, oozy nacho cheese like their cheese fries. I love thin fries so I really love theirs but my husband isn’t a fan. Chicken fingers and nuggets are decent for the kids. Haven’t strayed too far on the menu, but heard their sandwiches are good. Kind of pricey for a chain with food that is obviously not fresh, but we keep going back.

Typical fast food, notable exception, Cheese dog, with hot peppers(the ones on the beef) OMFG!!! The best I would get that every time. plus you get fries with it, but they need to be more consistent with fries, they come in, underdone, perfect. I prefer perfect.

We’ve been coming here after soccer games and it’s quite the treat! You can’t go wrong with Pop’s. As someone else noted, the hot dog comes wrapped in fries. I like my dog loaded with everything and Pop’s piles it high with goodness: tomatoes, pickle, onions, relish. The fries are great too, either dipped in ketchup or not. I also recommend the beef sandwich, especially soaked in sauce with some peppers. It has a nice family atmosphere and is clean. One thing to note: Not all Pop’s have the same items on the menu. The Orland location on 143rd Street has a great salad that I didn’t find on the Lockport menu.

Best gyros in Will county, always fast, always fresh. Even at the height of lunch or dinner they are on point and fries are amazing.

I go to Pop’s in Lockport at least once a week. The Italian Beef’s are good but my favorite is the Breaded Italian Steak sandwich. Comes with red sauce, cheese and peppers no extra charge. The burgers are charbroiled and taste good. Fries are fries to me, nothing special but always hot. Hot dogs are decent and always come with fries. The only good Pop’s must be the one in Tinley Park. We arrived about ½ hour before they closed. The girl at the counter was cold and impatient. I got the impression that I should have been thankful for the opportunity to eat here. On top of the service, the fries were cold and chewy like they had been sitting for some time and the hot dogs were cold as well. The beef on the beef sandwich was cold on the outside and warmer in the middle. I’ve been to Pop’s many times and this is not what I expected from this location.

This was the worst Italian beef I have ever had. My husband also was not satisfied with the food. I know we will never be back here.

Since the late 1980’s I have eaten numerous times at Pop’s restaurants. I believe I have eaten at every single location. I have been to the Lockport location no less than 50 times as it is the closest to my home. Something has changed in the past year and the food is just not very good anymore. While I expect it to be somewhat greasy food, it seems the amount of grease has increased and the taste is left in your mouth for several hours after eating there. My last meal was the jumbo hot dog with fries. Both were cold. So was my wife’s meal. That reminded me of my last meal, a burger, that was also cold. Due to the declining quality, this weekend will officially mark the end of my 25 year run of eating at Pop’s restaurants.

What I like most about this place is that I can go in an order and usually get my food in 60 seconds or less. Their kitchen staff move at 100mph no joke! I have eaten the Italian beef at this particular location about 25 times in the past year, needless to say I am a fan of it. I have been presently surprised that off all of them only one was not really good. I received a sandwiched that was literally half hot peppers and meet instead of a better 10⁄90 ratio.
