I recently picked up a bunch of meat and eggs from T-Meadow at Horsefeathers Market. The eggs were gorgeous: Blue, brown and white. We also got a whole chicken, three pounds of ground pork and two coils of Italian sausage. The total came out to a little over $ 60. I found T-Meadow while looking for a meat seller that took animal welfare into account. I’ve never visited the farm myself, but they advertise themselves as «low-impact, natural and sustainable» farming. The website says they raise pigs and chickens on pasture, without antibiotics. The fellow representing the farm at Horsefeathers Market seemed forthcoming and knowledgeable when I had a couple of questions about how the pigs were raised. Ordering was also extremely convenient — they have an online order form on their website at . It’s also awesome that they drive the meat into Buffalo — much easier and more efficient than us having to drive out to a farm 45 minutes away. We’re thrilled to have found what appears to be a nice source of meat! The prices aren’t low, but they’re not unreasonable($ 4 a pound for chicken, and $ 4 for a dozen eggs, for example). Since we don’t eat meat often, it’s the perfect little splurge for us…
