One of my favorite running trails. Also, one of my favorite night hike spots. Okay, so it’s a favorite of mine, not because it is a challenge hike. Instead, this spot is a great spot for anyone, of any experience level and their fur babies. Recently it has been adopted by the Boy Scouts and thus bringing trail maps, new sections and well established trail markers and landscaping so to speak. Bring your dog for a great walk and frolicking in the water or just relax on a bench surrounded by the old growth trees and nature around you. Can be a great snowshoeing or cross country skiing spot in the winter time, although not so much this winter to date!

I’m pretty torn because in order for me to give the trail five stars, I had to differentiate between my hiking needs and the nature trail. My hiking needs include: pulling myself up a hill by the roots in the ground, climbing up a steep incline, going«off trail», etc. You catch my drift. This trail was pretty much the opposite of that. I have to bring myself outside of those needs for a bit and admit that despite not feeling fully satisfied adventure-wise, this nature trail is absolutely beautiful. Everything is mapped out for you(which I will admit I don’t like) and the trails are set out in gravel so you never get lost(which I don’t like). But my views aside, there are some great things worth noting about this trail: There are benches set along the trail for peaceful meditation, which I don’t see often. They look brand new. Two of my favorite benches overlook the waterfall so all you hear is flowing water as you sit and ponder life. The trail is perfect for the beginning hiker, children, people who don’t want to over exert themselves, etc. It’ll give you peace without the craziness that comes with an intense trail. The trail is also perfect for running, which I definitely want to try one day. It’s a little hilly but well-mapped so you can do loops around the trails and get a good workout. The old trees that Aly W mentioned are amazing to look at. The roots of the trees are so big. It’s a pretty cool aspect about this trail. I’m very pleased that the Town of Lockport has something like this. It’s perfect for all of it’s residents and a trail that should most definitely be taken advantage of if you’re in need of self-reflection or small talk with a friend.

What a beautiful, underrated gem of a park. Sure, the waterfall isn’t as impressive as Royalton Ravine, but there’s several well maintained paths to explore and lots of wildlife to see. You can see a 180 year old oak tree on the way to the waterfall, and a 250 year old oak tree further down the main path. There were a lot of frogs, snakes, squirrels and chipmunks. There also seemed to be a fair amount of poison ivy in places so take care and stick to the path. I did see a couple pieces of trash, which always bums me out. We’re lucky to have beautiful places like this to enjoy, but litter takes away from the beauty. Parts of the trails have gravel, and there’s several benches if you need to take a break. Update: there’s another tree that looks to be at least 200 years old on an early side path to the left that meets up with the main waterfall path.
