Found it on Unilocal and we were pretty excited to check it out so we drove for 30 minutes. We were seated right away. Took about 10 minutes for our server to ask us for drinks. We waited longer than that somewhere else so we let it slide. We had the brunch buffet. It was good. Everything was good, even great, until the dessert part. While enjoying the bread pudding which we’ve read so much about, my husband stopped and asked me if i see something on his dessert plate that was moving. All it took for me was about a couple seconds to see this tiny insect squirming its way out of the plate. We tried to find our server, the guy whose long blonde hair is in a ponytail with the tips curled but we can’t find him. We didn’t know his name coz he never provided one. So we called the lady server and told her what’s going on. She took the plate and apologize for it casually and then she started to look for it by trying to move the remaining food around but she can’t see it. I tried to find it for her and i thought it got stuck or squished among the food morsel. That thing has made its way halfway to the rim of the plate and i pointed it at her and asked if she can see it which she responded with an affirmative. She took the plate away again, apologize casually with half a smile and left. We were expecting her to come back with the manager but that didn’t happen. We were debating if we should ask for one or if we should let our server know about it. We let our server know about it. What he said is the most insulting part: «it’s summer time and flies are always around, sorry about that». He said that in a way that it’s obvious he didn’t care, that it was ok to have flies or extra bugs or extra insect in our food because it is summer time. He said that while on his way to the table behind us, his back already turned away from us and just his head looking back at us. Yes, he apologized, and like the lady server, with a smile on his face. Why even apologize if it had to be done with a smirk? We thought a manager has been told, but no. These two servers who knew what happened couldn’t care less & why would they? They must have assumed we were not worth dealing time with and would rather serve other older guests. I wonder if we were an old white couple would they have the audacity to insult us that way. If they knew about each issue in every season, did they tell the management about it? why wasn’t there any type of control for that? We sat there for a few minutes aghast, trying to «understand» what were told and how that made us feel. The idea of knowing we came all the way to this place, excited over bringing our dad over, the idea of being awed with the place’s old and rich vibe, only to be drained down with an insult, TWICE, by some staff who seem to know nothing about nipping an issue at the bud. We got up and paid. Once at the counter and handed the bill, i told the guy(not our server or the lady) i asked him he should charge us extra for that insect since our server implied that THAT is something part of the food here during summer. He muttered something like«ok, we’ll just get you going» which i retorted back with«yeah, and never come back!». My husband talked to him and explained what happened. He tried to neutralize the situation by taking some amount off from the tab. Maybe that eased the insult a bit, because what else can any establishment do but do that or just«apologize». It doesn’t matter if it’s summer, fall, winter or spring. Any kind of insects or bugs or pests or parasites should not be a part of any food being served to anyone. And for any shortcomings from any establishments’ part, try to invest some money on proper staff training. Learn to be sincere if you are apologizing for anything that is within or with out your control. Maybe instead of telling us to suck up on a situation, learn to suck out all your superficialities and insincerities. Profit and money is not everthing. If those two servers treated us and talked to us the way we deserve, i wont be here writing this. And if they dont have the time to do just that, they can always tell the manager what’s going on and that person can talk to us. Will i come back? YES. IF im in the mood for purgatory-hell brunch combined.

Nice place, good beers, wine and food, but not good that accommodates parties. They will only do one bill for parties over 6 and we had a party of 16 so it took us an hour to figure out the bill when the waiter could have much separated each party much easier. So I suggest that only small parties come and big go somewhere else.

Stumbling upon the Dancing Fox in downtown Lodi was a treat. The staff is friendly, offering really good service. The atmosphere is warm and reminiscent of a European eatery. The Dancing Fox has a full menu, nice wine menu and beers. We were seated inside, but they do have outdoor space which is very nice. Mr. Bee was kind of wined out, so went with a Cold Brew Barrel Noir beer, which was an Imperial Stout aged in a Bourbon Barrel with notes of vanilla and coffee. I don’t like beer and this was nice and drinkable. We started with a cup of their Black Bean Chili, which is vegetarian and filled with a nice chili spice, black beans and small pieces of fresh veggies. The wood fired pizza’s are true wood fired. The crust is crispy with a nice wood char and smoky flavor. We ordered the Giuseppina Pizza which was covered in a nice tomato sauce with Prosciutto, Tomato, Mozzarella, Shaved Paremesan, Fresh Oregano and Arugula. They offer burgers, sandwiches, pizza’s, wraps and salads. The day we visited there was plenty of parking on the street, and they have a small parking lot.

1st visit. Amazing brunch! Everything was delicious. Save room for the Dancing Fox ice cream dessert! I was expecting the Dancing Fox to be a pretentious restaurant. Not! The décor is reminiscent of Game of Thrones. The staff friendly. Service excellent. And, I’ll definitely be back to sample the menu and selection of beers.

I tried their brunch and my kids had their lunch sandwiches. Brunch had a variety of things. The best part was the omelette station and their bread. The bread was so good I bought a loaf to take home. The staff were friendly. My waiter was pretty awesome. He was cute and very helpful since it was our first time there.

I gave this restaurant 3.5 stars so I rounded it up to 4. My girlfriend and I came to Lodi from Stockton to try this place. We came to downtown Lodi and the outside of the restaurant looked amazing. The ambiance was truly great inside and out. We were seated inside because all the outside seats were taken. We ordered the bruschetta to share and I got the tri-tip melt while my gf got the proscuitto pizza. The bruschetta had a twist to it. The bagguette slices were crisp to perfection and the bruschetta mixture consisted of tomatoes, basil, jalapeño, and some kind of cheese(it tastes like a light blue cheese). Balsamic vinegar and olive oil was drizzled onto the plate and it was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed bruschetta that much before. When our entrees came, it looked delicious but it was deceiving. The pizza was good to me but it was a little on the sweet side. I think they should have stuck with the regular marinara sauce instead of their sweet tomato base sauce. There were plenty of toppings such as arugula, tomatoes, and proscuitto. The wood fire grill did not disappoint as the crust was perfect. Now, for my dish, I thought the fries were executed well. They were seasoned and fried to the right crispiness. The sandwich was the downfall of the whole meal. It was really dry because there was no sauce at all. It could have had some BBQ sauce to make it work. We saved half our entrees for later so we could try their Lemon Lavendar pie. That was just as good as the bruschetta. The lavendar cream was not overly sweet and the lemon filling was not overly tart/sour. There was a perfect balance and it was delicious. The only flaw that it had was that the crust was too thin. I wish there was more crust to add texture to the pie. All in all, I would come back here and order their bruschetta and pie. The fish and chips with onion rings also look very tasty.

3.5 stars, but I’m rounding up because of the ambiance and the pie. Yeah, the pie was that good. I always appreciate a good-looking restaurant. This is a very cute place to eat, especially the outdoor patio when the weather is nice! The bruschetta($ 10) was unlike any other bruschetta I’ve had — it had jalapeño! The small chunks of peppers paired with the sharp cheese really balanced out the sweetness of the tomatoes, basil, and balsamic. And I’m always down for anything involving toasted baguette slices. You should def try out this dish. The entrees were unfortunately disappointing. My boyfriend’s tri tip sandwich($ 12) was pretty dry since it lacked a sauce, and the plastic-y cheese didn’t add any moisture to the sandwich either. I’d rather spend that money on a Panera sandwich, to be frank. As for me, I loooove pizza. Like I own pizza pillows, a pizza phone case, everything, I’m obsessed. So naturally, I ordered a Guiseppina prosciutto pizza($ 12) topped with arugula and shaved parmesan. While the pizza looked bomb, I’ve definitely had better. It tasted kinda sweet to me, which I was not digging. The crust was very tasty though. The saving grace of the meal was hands down that lemon lavender pie($ 5). The lavender cream was so perfectly light, especially paired with the not-too-tart lemon filling. The slice was the perfect balance of sweet-sour-floral. The crust could have been a little puffier & flakier, but regardless, that was probably one of the best slices of pie I’ve had. Afterwards, you can walk off your meal by window shopping around downtown Lodi. Overall, I probably won’t ever crave Dancing Fox’s food(besides that pie), but I’ll definitely be back!

Lovely venue; servers have improved greatly in their friendliness. Have done the brunch twice within the last couple months; omelet station is a nice touch. Pastries were small, bland, dried out and all the same. Fruit was one bowl of just watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew. Potatoes were underwhelming. Only oj and a lemonade, no other juices. So, for $ 21, not really a deal. One in our party had the wild rice bowl with salsa – except for the added egg she paid extra for, you’d get a much better rice bowl at Chipotle, for ½ the price…

Dropped in at the bar for a quick glass of wine & a sammich: *At the end of the day, I’d return for a few beers with friends –They keep later hours than many other Lodi joints; food is served til 9PM and drinks until 10PM –The atmosphere was laid back and casual; most people were in their 40s aside from some long tables of promgoers(Oh, to be young again!) –Décor is cool and rustic looking, with a hand cranked pizza oven that is fun to watch. –The beer list looked very impressive, they had the usual Central CA sprawl of IPAs but also some off the beaten path sours and goses! –They also featured numerous wines by the glass, I ordered the petite sirah and really enjoyed it! Seemed like they were well stocked unlike many other places in Lodi –Waitstaff was super cool as well –Decent sized portions for $ 12, food isn’t bad but it isn’t any extraordinary either.

Cute little place in downtown Lodi. Ideal place for breakfast/brunch! Not a huge fan of their lunch menu — mostly sandwiches, pizza, and salads. You can walk down the street for a better bigger pizza at smack pie. Their bread pudding is AWESOMEEEEE and a must have on top of their oatmeal! Reasonable prices and a great selection of beers and wines! I tried their horchata beer that was on tap and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely a cute place and quiet enough to catch up with good friends!

We ate at the Dancing Fox yesterday after traveling from another city for a baseball game. So this was my first time trying it. I have to say we loved it. The building/décor was great and everything was very clean.(Including the restrooms). We had the bread plate and onion rings for appetizers and it was way to much for 4 people. The portions were large. We tried 2 different pizzas and chicken fettuccine. Everything was good and the pesto pizza was amazing. We did try the bread pudding to share after and it was plenty for 2 people and it was some of the best bread pudding we have tried. I wish my son played in Lodi more often. I would love to come back!

My husband and I frequent DF about every 2 weeks or so, we love the selection of big craft beers. The food is typically good but inconsistent. The service had been good for a while, but has recently turned horribly bad. We waited 10 minutes just to be greeted, then about 30 minutes for our food, however only my pizza came out. My husbands order was no where to be seen for another 15 minutes. The server NEVER came to our table to make sure everything was okay, or check on the fact that my husband’s dinner was not brought. The dish, bangers and mash, is what my husband ALWAYS orders and so it was very clear the server forgot to put in the order and asked the kitchen to rush it and it had been microwaved. The potatoes were cold and hard and the sausage was gross and shriveled. When we said something to the server he seemed to have no concern and said he doesn’t know what happened, «perhaps it was due to the kitchen closing.» We arrived at 8:15 pm, the sign said the restaurant hours were until 10 pm, so why would the kitchen be closing??? Also, my food came out fine, and so did the other 3 tables around us. DON’T LIE!!! I hate when servers lie! I was a server so I know stuff is forgotten every once in a while. Just apologize and get it fixed. It was another 15 minutes after my food that his came out, so there should have been enough time to cook his food correctly, it did not need to be microwaved. We love the beer selection, and the food when it’s cooked correctly, but if the service doesn’t get fixed… this restaurant will definitely be taken out of the rotation. It looks like there are enough complaints on Unilocal to warrant a serious consideration of the management to tend to their service problems. PLEASEFIX!

First time here and a Beautiful day for Easter brunch at the Dancing Fox. Located in downtown Lodi. Super Adorable restaurant… something you would see in Napa. Nicely decorated, just looking around; this place is a visual delight. The restaurant is also a bakery and most recently a brewery. They have both indoor and beautiful outdoor seating. Brunch is offered both Saturday and Sunday for $ 21.00. Easter Brunch price was $ 24.00. The brunch was amazing… Omelette bar with all the fixings(not skimpy on how much you want in your omelette), raisin french toast, maple bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes, eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce, mixed fresh fruit, coffee, juices, scones, muffins, and sooooo much more. There was a couple items which were over the top AMAZING… first; there bread pudding with fresh berries and second there tiramisu… so OMGDELICIOUS! Seriously! I will be thinking about it till my next visit. The staff were incredibly nice and attentive. I would definitely recommend the Dancing Fox for brunch.

Nicely decorated eclectic interior with outside patio seating. Offers sandwiches, salads, soups, and entrees. Menu seems to change every few months. Also offers their own wine and 10 craft beers which rotate regularly. The food is usually good, but that is the problem, it is inconsistent. Large burgers, easily can be split by two people. Sunday Brunch is good but pricey. The service has never been great but has gotten worse since their two best waiters left about 1.5yrs ago. None of the current waitstaff is professional, and service is very slow.

Stopped by here for brunch during a visit from the Bay Area. Wow — what a great brunch! We loved the building; they did a great job with the décor. It’s very cozy and comfortable. The made-to-order omelette station had a very nice selection of choices; the home fried potatoes were very tasty and I especially liked the fresh baked scones and the French toast made with their in-house baked bread. We also had their wineries sparkling wine(with one free refill). To cap it off, the brunch even includes self-serve coffee that is their own delicious blend. We can’t wait to come back on our next trip.

First time here, was recommended by a sister and she gets a big high five ! The place was busy as a Sunday brunch buffet was ending, but tables soon opened. Meanwhile we enjoyed complementary wine tasting in the tasting area to the rear of the dining room. On the way we passed a rack of fresh baked breads, and bought a blue cheese and spinach loaf and a gluten free loaf. We had never tried either and were quite shocked my how good the gluten free loaf tasted. Excellent taste(although we did use it as intended, with butter and sandwiches and such) and texture was firm but soft, much unlike other gluten free breads. Very nice. Lunch was a hummus appetizer, much larger than expected, with spicy humus, thin bread crisp fried, what looked like large slices of Japanese cucumber and tomatoes. Enough for a meal by itself. Onion rings were well fried but not greasy with a tasty coating. Ranch dressing was a little loose in consistency which made dipping the rings and getting them to your mouth without drippage a challenge, but all worked out well. The tri-tip salad was generous, with plenty of greens, kalamata olives and such, but the tri-tip — we were later told — was pre cooked and not available medium rare. Makes us wonder how long prior it had been cooked? Otherwise a good salad. Wood fired pizza was crisp and thin and full of toppings. Personal size was four slices and with everything else was just right. Had a draft porter, which was smooth and creamy belying it’s dark appearance. Dessert was only one choice so we passed on that. Will come again — good food, nice dining area and reasonable prices. Excellent service makes it a pleasure to relax and enjoy your meal.

Very cute restaurant! Food was decent. My fiancé ordered the pacific salmon, cooked ok, pretty flat, and on the dry side. The veggies were great, but the salmon was masked by an excess of herbs and spices. I myself ordered the smoked tri tip with mashed potatoes and an onion gravy. It was good, however the food was all again«masked» by the onion gravy. I would eat here again with hopes of a better meal. Some diners deserve second chances.

You need to go here and get some wine, I love their Cherry port the best and I buy it for relatives as gifts every year. Their labels are so pretty and nice, I will one day go eat there, but as far as their wine, you won’t be disappointed try it. I recommend their Cherry wines great for drizzling on pancakes, ice cream or just drinking it. Great!

Several visits and I have not been disappointed. The décor, the customer service, the food and the wine are all awesome. This weekend we just stopped in for tasting. Since I picked up several other bottles at other locations that day I limited myself to just one bottle here. Luis, I think was his name, discussed the wines as he poured us to our personal preferences. He also recommended a winery that we later visited. Very informative and friendly. Great lunch spot.

My date and I stumbled upon this restaurant one Friday night when the wait time was shorter than Lodi Beer’s wait time. We waited(10 minutes longer than we were initially estimated) in the back tasting room since the small bar was full. While the vibe and ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a date night, the food did not impress. I had the raviolis with sauce made from«fresh local tomatoes» according to the server. What I got was more like spicy yet cloyingly sweet tomato soup with 3 raviolis. Truly, the entire plate was tomato sauce. It was pretty strange. The waitstaff was friendly but slow, which was fine because we weren’t in a hurry and were enjoying each other’s company, but it sounds like other Unilocalers have understandably experienced frustration with the long waits. I think if I were to come back, it would be for lunch or drinks only.

We had lunch a couple of weeks ago at this place and initially everything seemed okay and we’d been there before and thought the food was okay. I ordered a bowl of black bean chili which came with a slice of foccacia bread. The chili was okay but when I dipped the focaccia bread into it and bit off a piece of bread I bit down on something crunchy which turned out to be a piece of glass!!! Called the waiter over and he said«yes it is glass, would you like another bowl of chili?»!!! I said(deleted) no! So I settled for a piece of the only pie they had which was $ 5 as per the menu. My wife ordered a reuben sandwich which came out with slices of andouille sausage between the slices of bread instead of corned beef as we are accustomed to. We asked the waiter about it and he said that’s the way they make it there. We looked at the menu and sure enough it stated that the reuben sandwich had andouille sausage in it. Resigned to the fact that we made a mistake and didn’t read the menu thoroughly, we started to eat this«reuben» and soon enough found it was not edible. The andouille sausage was absolutely blazing hot to the taste and not edible! We gave up on the rest of the sandwich. When we got our bill for this«meal», I found that I was charged $ 6 for my pie which was supposed to be $ 5 as per the menu. At this point I was irritated with the situation and called a waiter over. As I explained that I was overcharged, he readily agreed that I was and would make the correction for me. I noticed that the cash register receipt had made the charge of $ 6 instead of $ 5 so I have to assume that that is the way it was programmed so the result is that people were being wrongly charged routinely and if you don’t complain you’ll get gouged! Would I EVER go back? You gotta be kidding! With all the issues we encountered and the wait staff being so cavalier about the whole situation, I urge all of you to think twice about this place and forget it!

This place caught my attention right away because of my love of foxes. I had high hopes for it. When I walked in the dinning room I was not disappointed. I felt like I had stepped into an Alice and Wonderland tea parlor. When reading the menu the prices seemed a little high. The food was subpar. The wine and varity of wine they serve is great. It’s really a mixed basket with this place. I will go back for tasting but never to eat. There are so many better options in the area with better food and similar if not cheaper prices.

Note– read the hidden reviews because they are what I believe are the most truthful reviews . Disappointment does not even begin to describe my experience here. We walked in and were seated but then we waited. And waited and waited. Not a single person even looked at us to say will be with you shortly or would you like coffee. After 20 minutes of being ignored I asked for coffee and the guy looked at me like I had two heads. More waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally we left and went to the beer company down the block. We were met by two ladies who had also walked out on the dancing fox. It just boggles my mind how it would be so easy for the staff just to acknowledge people and at least let them know that they’re not being ignored but they don’t do that. If theyre short staffed they should let people know that and least make sure they have a drink before they have to wait another 30 minutes I’m seriously disappointed and bummed out because it’s such a nice place, but we won’t be back :-(

My friend lives in Lodi, she recommended we have lunch here since I was in the area. Our waiter tall gentlemen with lots of tattoos was kind, attentive and very prompt in bringing out drinks, food and bill.(Sorry you told me your name three times and I still managed to forget. Jason?) I ordered the trip tip sandwich with a house salad and ranch. Let me start with the bread, it was phenomenal! I ended up going inside to buy a loaf to take home, so my husband could try it. The ranch was so rich and delicious! The tri tip was perfectly cooked tender and tasty with the perfect amount of spice from the grilled pepper. The prices are fair, they give you a cookie with the lunch. Nice little touch for those with a sweet tooth! I would definitely recommend this place for lunch! We sat on the outdoor patio because the weather permitted. It’s located in the downtown portion of Lodi and you can take a nice stroll after you dine.

This summer I traveled to both San Francisco and Lodi. My friends and I were looking for a place to lunch at and used Unilocal for local recommendations. The Dancing Fox Winery and Bakery(TDFW&B) was an excellent recommendation! TDFW&B is located in the historic downtown part of Lodi on a cute street. The restaurant is decorated in really beautiful antique furniture, fountains, lanterns and rod iron tables. We dined outside on their patio, which was lovely. Even on a weekday in the summertime they are pretty busy. The baker hand make their bread, pastries, and desserts using organic flours and local ingredients. TDFW&B offers gluten free bread, which was heavenly! The texture was just right and the flavors were delicious! I ordered the Caprese sandwich/panini. SOOOOO good! My friends loved their choices as well. Two of my friends ordered the Pesto Chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread and the other friend had one of the salads with salmon. The food was excellent! The lunches with sandwiches were served with a side salad and a homemade cookie.(What a great touch!) The waiters were super helpful and knowledgable about the menu and preparation of food. Next time that I am in Lodi, I for sure will be visiting TDFW&B again. I hope that its real soon.

Absolutely love the ambience and all of the food…5 stars on both of those… only disappointment(and yes, maybe poor planning on my part) but I needed a breakfast at 8am today. And figured as I had in past, I could place an order at 7am this morning. After no one answered I checked their hours and as it turns out they didn’t open till 7:30am. So I started calling at 730am, and tried every 3 – 5 minutes and no one answered. I’m thinking the place must have been packed. I just arrived at 7:55am and low and behold? 2 patrons with very simple items that were ordered. One of them just left. Can’t imagine how many people may be calling thinking the place must be closed… So in future? Note to self? Order the night before or may have to resort to another option…

Everything I have tried here has been amazing! One thing I could say is they could definitely work on their serving skills. Everyone is always very nice & attentive for the most part, but there’s just a few little things… We asked for water with lemon & did not get lemon. Then I noticed there was a charge for $ 2.50 on our bill for soda… We never even ordered soda so that was fixed… But over all very good food maybe our server was new… Not a fan of the wine… But they do have mimosas that are perfect! The brunch is good, although I wish there was more options that didn’t include pork. I will definitely be back! The fox trot sandwich is my favorite & the side salad too! The patio is beautiful, ask to sit outside!

We were here once before for their breakfast brunch buffet and wine tasting. This time we wanted to check out their menu items. As we entered the front door, there was a line of people ahead of us waiting to be seated. We gave our name on their list and were told there was a 30 minute wait. Yikes! So we told the young gentleman we’d be in the back where they had wine tastings! They have beautiful décor all over. They even sell stuff like honey. Little stuffed animal puppets.(The Dancing Fox) Wines, breads, desserts, etc. We had complimentary wine tasting while we waited to be seated. The gentleman who helped us was extremely cordial. Not only did he give us tips on the wine he was a great conservationist! The time past us by and it didn’t feel like 30 minutes of wait time. Now that’s service! I had ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. WOWZA! It was DELISH! My buddy had their BLT wrap. I was told it was amazing. It was a huge wrap, too. Not wimpy. Momma bear ordered their Fish and Chips. I was told it was excellent! Overall, all three orders came out excellent! All three of us enjoyed our meals. Our service was superb. The place was just beautiful. We had great drinks. To me, the price was great, too. Great place for family, friends, or a date! We will be back! Thanks for a GREAT Sunday!

We rarely get the opportunity to visit Lodi, but returning from Tahoe recently via 88⁄12 due to a fire, we stopped by Lodi for lunch. I was hoping to pay a return visit to Cottage Bakery, which my father and I had loved several years earlier. We found the former location, but it is now occupied by the Dancing Fox restaurant. Well, we were here and hungry, so Dancing Fox it was! My wife fell in love instantly with the quaint, unique(and quirky) décor. It’s the type of restaurant you sit down and just enjoy looking around: this place is a visual delight. It has an equally unusual business mix: a restaurant, bakery and winery. Can’t recall an establishment with similar credentials! Our lunch was delicious. Both of our sandwiches were transformed by the fresh, bakery bread they were made with — yum! The fries were good too, especially my wife’s sweet potato fries. Interestingly, the lunch comes with a fresh baked cookie(conveniently available for sale), and we definitely ordered some to go. It was a memorable lunch in Lodi — hopefully we’ll get back soon.
