We have rented the main cabin several times. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen and the other with two bunks with twins beds. We put two mattresses on the floor and made it a queen. The great room is large with a fireplace, stocked wood and comfortable furniture. The bathroom is modern and has a stall shower. The kitchen is modern and fully stocked; for the most part. There is a screened-in porch weather permitting. Central heat makes it very usable over the chilly months. Hiking is abundant. It’s a cool place. Check it out. It is only 40 miles from Columbus.

Have sent 2 of my kids to Camp Akita. My youngest attended at the end of the 2015 summer and he had a horrible experience. It was so bad, the camp and/or First Community Church paid 2 private investigators to interview him and my wife and I about possible felony sexual contact between some of the counselors and some of the 9 year old campers. I have asked to speak with the board of directors of the church and their executive director declined my request. After I posted this review to their FB page, he called back and said they would be happy to have me speak with the board. Adult counselors forcing campers to march into the woods at night by candlelight and requiring the boys to participate in #HugClub(forced to physically hug each other in sexually suggestive positions) and repeatedly telling the campers not to tell anyone(including their parents) about Hug Club is too much for me. Then to learn the counselors were sleeping in their under-ware, tucking in the kids at night and kissing one of them good-night while the innocent camper was asleep and couldn’t defend himself is tragic. What’s more disappointing is how the church has handled the situation. In a formal meeting, one of their ministry leaders told us worse things could have happened to our children and if Camp Akita has 12 of 13 successful sessions for the summer, the summer was a success. To this day, not one counselor or church staffer or camp staffer has apologized to my child, offered a refund or any similar gesture. Very disappointing organization. If anyone from the camp wants to refute anything I’ve written here, please do but unfortunately this is not an opinion post. It’s all factual. For the record, I don’t recommend sending anyone to this camp

This Camp is truly an amazing place. They offer different weeks based on age and a variety of opportunities when you get there. The coolest part is they make staff and campers turn off their cell phones while at camp. Why? To enjoy each other’s company and live in the moment besides wondering what’s going on at home! Great for kids going into grades 3 – 12. With volunteer weeks for grades 10 – 12!
