Had lunch today at this very good Mexican Restaurant and enjoyed it very much. We both had the luncheon special, two items w/rice and beans for $ 7.95. Staff were very pleasant and food came out quickly. Chips and two kinds of salsa– delicious!

I didn’t think a place this good could exist in Utah. Burritos the size of your face.

This is my second favorite restaurant in Logan. It is just delicious. I agree that the green sauce is delicious as is everything else. The people are so friendly and they are all Mexican. I have not had a bad meal here. It is miles above El Sol and Café Sabor. If you’re up for amazing Mexican food, come here.

The food is almost as good as it is huge. You will need a take out box unless you are a real pro. The service is top notch, and the prices are reasonable enough. I would discount the«I’m from California/Texas and I know authentic Mexican food» comments here, because I have been to any number of amoeba-ridden restaurants in Mexico, and the last thing i really want is an authentic Mexican experience. The food here is tasty, and the people who make it and bring it to you are pretty nice. I’ll be back, and you will not be disappointed if you go.

So far the chips and both the red and green salsa are super. Then they bring out an amazing cold slaw like abuelita used to make. Next beautiful fajitas, large plates, super fresh and tasty. Ok now I am hooked line and sinker. Coming back for sure

Coming from Los Angeles, California, I know Mexican food. This is pretty Americanized. I ordered a lime and cilantro chicken plate. The chicken was pretty flat, dry, and I didn’t see a single speck of cilantro on the plate. Chicken didn’t taste like lime in any way. The salsa, both green and red, is SOMILD and tasteless. Especially the red one. I was tempted to mix the two to try and add a little bit of a boost, but I’m really disappointed that the«hot» green salsa was definitely more mild than mild salsa found outside of the valley. Maybe they are catering to «Utahn» taste buds, but I think that if you’re going to call yourself a Mexican restaurant, the food should be more authentic. I just expected something with more flavor. The rice is pretty good, and I could eat a boat load of it. The horchata is good too, very nice blend of cinnamon. The waitress was great. I just want to add, I just read a review where someone was complaining about the food being too spicy and gave it a bad review for that… no wonder this restaurant doesn’t serve more authentic meals. My goodness… I wouldn’t expect a type of food known for being spicy to not be… and I definitely wouldn’t rate it badly because it was too spicy for my taste. I WOULD rate it badly for not being what it claims to be. Green salsa is supposed to have jalapeños…

A couple months back, my manicurist native to Utah by way of Mexico City recommended I check out El Toro Viejo. Today was the day we finally tried it for lunch. First, Gabriela dined some pretty awesome green chicken enchiladas our way. She was a lovely server! Even at the noon hour it was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. For around $ 8 we each had a huge plate of mild green chile bathing two perfect chicken enchiladas. The shredded chicken was juicy and not too salty. I liked the red rice with some delicious pinto beans. Second, the décor is a jumble of southwestern colors and visuals like Frida Kahlo and turquoise walls. It’s a welcomed look not often seen in Logan which why I think you should check out El Toro Viejo. It was a lot of food but made for plenty of time to catch up and to eat. It was a nice experience, one worth returning to! Third, this is exactly what a four star Unilocal location is!

If you’re looking for incredible, authentic Mexican in Logan, UT, you’re not going to find it. This is the closest thing to a tasty, upscale, Mexican restaurant that I can find in the valley. I love the food; everything had a great flavor, and comes out hot and prompt. I am a huge fan of milder Mexican food and cheese so I liked the food a lot. The beans and rice are my favorite and the atmosphere is really beautiful. However if you are looking authentic food with punchy flavors with small amounts of authentic cheese(like cotija cheese or goat cheese) you might want to leave Logan. This is not it. Anyway, I’ve never had a bad experience here. Food always tastes good, and the service is always nice and generally pretty prompt. Will for sure be back.

Wow, being from southern Ca. We are a little bit spoiled for amazing Mexican food! It seems the further you get away from the border the worse it’s gets. This is flavorless Mexican food from a can! Skip it!

We’ve been eating here for 9 years. Even before it was at the old location. It was somewhere we wanted to go to without a thought to eat on Lunch, Dinner or takeout. Someone’s birthday was always celebrated here and we’ve grown to love and know all the waitresses and waiters. Ever since it moved locations, it doesn’t taste the same. As it pains me to be even a little disloyal to one of our favorite restaurants, it seems like it’s not the same food. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and Carne Asada Tacos is my favorite, black beans and rice and Arroz Con Pollo is our regular order. The last time we went, it didn’t wow us like before. The red salsa used to be sweet and have a punch is now too spicy even for me. I really loved this place and will keep on giving it business, I just wouldn’t rate it 5 stars like I would 2 years ago.

Yummy! One of our family’s favorite spots. Yummy beans and rice. Chimichanga was delicious. Funnily enough…3 of my family members like to order the Burger and Fries… And they are yummy too. The molcajete was delicious. We love the chips and salsa too. Mmmmm

No bueno. They serve the outdated, bland, over-cheesed Tex-Mex Utah is famous for, on a steaming hot plate. Nothing is fresh, everything lacks seasoning and flavor. On a recent visit… chicken in my enchilada was dry and stringy. Sauce on it tasted processed and nasty. Ground beef in my taco was dry and had no flavor. Their chile relleno was bad. bland, not at all fresh and a very dated recipe. All but the chile verde was inedible. I’ve had nothing but disappointing meals here for as long as I can remember. If you prefer food with flavor, skip this place.

Love me some El Toro Viejo! This is probably the go to Mexican restaurant in Logan. I was happy to see that when I returned to Logan after a six year hiatus the building was destroyed, but my loved spinach enchiladas are still around. The chips are delicious, crispy, and fresh. The salsa roja and verde are fresh and popping. The service is fast and friendly. I got the triple chicken enchiladas, which were more than enough for both that night and the next. The margaritas were one point, and filled me up after a good long day of meetings. Waitress and host were incredibly nice to me, my family, and my son. The nice touches like this make the difference! Highly recommend the restaurant.

I would normally be loathe to give a single star review, but I dined here because it was so highly rated, was very disappointed despite moderate expectations, and want to save any future Unilocalers I can! The chips were mediocre, I’ve certainly had lighter. The salsa verde was okay; the regular(red) salsa was awful. The menu didn’t list beverages of any kind, so I asked the waitress if they served margaritas or just sodas — not all restaurants serve alcohol. She seemed to think it was stranger for me to ask than for them not to have their offerings on a menu, but in any event, they do serve margaritas so I ordered one. They use table salt for the rim, and mix for the margarita. Just mix. OK, there might have also been alcohol, but I couldn’t detect any beneath the sickeningly sweet mix. I’m not one to waste booze, and I couldn’t drink more than half of it. I ordered a spinach quesadilla, and forced myself to eat it because I didn’t want to revisit Unilocal to find another restaurant highly rated by the same folks who sent me here… Every quesadilla I’ve ever eaten has looked pretty much the same, a half-circle about the width of a plate cut into 4 or so pieces. This was about half that size, a small flour tortilla folded in half. 1 piece. If you love small quantities of chopped frozen spinach, this is the quesadilla for you. This is a quick-service dive posing as a restaurant. The food is not made to order, merely assembled and heated. Sure, if I had been in a hurry it would have been nice to have my meal brought to me less than 5 minutes after I ordered it, but what I would have preferred would have been fresh ingredients cooked to order. The only remotely redeeming characteristic of El Toro Viejo would have been the friendly staff, had someone not followed me into the bathroom after I paid and left the dining area, to ask if I was going to eat the rest of my food. I’m visiting Logan so don’t have an alternative to suggest, but I doubt things get much worse — I recommend going anywhere else.

The best chili relleno that we’ve had in Utah so far. The spinach enchiladas are excellent too. We’ll be back to visit when we’re in Logan!

We stopped here on our road trip in Utah based on Unilocal recommendations and it turned out to be an authentic Mexican place — we ordered the loco burrito and the quessidella and the mango lemonade. the portion sizes were too big for us to finish but the food was amazing.

Lunch was great! Ordered carne asada and was very pleased. Well the chips and salsa were bomb to start things off — hot and ready. Our waitress was nice and at tentative. The meat was done perfectly and wow were the beans hot! Great rice and fixings — all kinds of onions and salad. Highly recommend this dish!

The service here is genuine. The chips are light and perfect for an appetizer. A MUST have is the green salsa. Not spicy at all. Heavy on the cilantro and fresh onions. Yum. If you get the Taco salad, ask for no sour cream and guacamole. It was too much, combined with the decried beans and it was a mushy mess. My hubby ordered the side tacos with shrimp, and said it was perfect. The atmosphere was traditional, and they are open late on Sunday’s. A bonus for the weary traveler.

Coming from Southern California to Utah I can say I was nervous about finding good Mexican food. This place is great for a sit down meal. Service was friendly and the menu had lots of options. I had the locos burrito with grilled chicken and it was amazing. The chicken had great flavor and the sauce really completed the dish. My friend had a chicken quesadilla and added bell peppers. She enjoyed hers very much as well. The chicken in the quesadilla was a shredded seasoned chicken with lots of good seasoning. Margaritas were good– not super strong but hit the spot. I liked the green salsa much better than the red. The chips were super fresh and the server replenished them promptly. I’ll definitely be back!
