Food was absolutely fantastic. Buffett was inexpensive and well worth it. Would definitely return when we are in the area.

Good place food is ok prices a little high for what you get. The kids like petting the deer and goats out back that make it unique.

Decent food, nice, family atmosphere. Our daughter loves to visit the petting zoo area after we eat. Their pie is awesome… Be sure to save room!

Logan, OH is where Hocking Hills is located, so there are plenty of tourists — myself included. That means you can expect pricier meals. So no surprise that the Friday dinner buffet is about $ 14. However, it was one of the best stocked buffets I’ve ever been too. Not very vegetarian friendly, but it’s like a Thanksgiving dinner with homemade mashed potatoes(yum), turkey, variety of meats, brussel sprouts, and then random buffet items like buffalo wings and General Tso chicken(actually quite good!). But some of the food is bland. It’s a buffet, after all. And dessert, oemgee. ALLTHEPIES. Coconut and apple were great. They also had strawberry and boston crème. Then 6 flavors of Blue Belle ice cream and fresh fruit(incl strawberries). The salad bar was also great with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It’s also attached to a gift shop. Next to it is some random FARMANIMALPLACE. THEREAREDEERYOUCANPETANDGOATS! And you can feed them and its all free!

This is kind of like Der Dutchman, though I don’t think it’s part of the chain. Still, has a corporate feel and fairly generic food. The usual«home cooking” — not bad, but bland and not exceptional. There’s a little gift shop. Hey, it’s handy, and reliable, and reasonably priced. But I doubt I’ll be back soon.

I would not go here on a holiday. We had a group of 10 for Easter dinner. They told us they did not take reservations and could not tell us a good time to come but they would take our name and a time. When we got there they had no record of my call and said we’d have to wait at least an hour. You have to stand right by where they take names to hear your call. On Easter you can order buffet only; &16.00. All canned vegetables; not worth the wait.

Are here for lunch and it was fantastic! The turkey was better than thanksgiving and mashed potatoes were awesome as well. I was at this place many years ago and it’s gone from good to great. Our server was amazing too! If you’re in the area and are hungry for a top notch meat and potatoes buffet, you must try this place out!

I really wish I would’ve read these reviews before I made the mistake of coming here on my first visit to Hocking Hills. Let me start by saying the buffet is $ 15.29 which is ridiculous. Three of us ordered the buffet and not a single one of us liked it. Just like the other reviews mention: Everything is bland. Everything tastes like it came out of a can. The fried chicken is a contender for worst fried chicken I’ve ever had. Even the pie is bland. Everyone was upset we paid way more than we would’ve somewhere else and had a bad experience. The only reason this doesn’t get one star is the service was attentive and kind. But it doesn’t help that the food is a huge let down. Skip this restaurant.

TUESDAYAFERNOONINJULY — 1PM SEVENWORDS: Bland Buffet /Amish Veneer /Homey but Unspectactular Of all Buffets(Yes, including Golden Corral and Ryan’s Steakhouse), this is the worst. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it’s definitely bland — and that’s a problem, given the fact it’s a buffet. Naturally, we were greeted promptly and with great courtesy by the hostess and our waiter came up in no time at all and took our drink orders — it was Megan and she was fantastic. However, waiters are individuals and they are hardly a reflection of the restaurant’s quality. That’s why I tip them — and that can vary from 10 – 50 percent, based on their service — NOTTHECOSTNORTHEQUALITYOFTHEFOOD. I ordered the buffet and my dining partner ordered the ham loaf. The ham loaf came in less than 10 minutes and the buffet was always stocked and in good clean order. My first plate included mashed potatoes, dumplings, and two pieces of chicken. The noodles hadn’t even been salted or peppered. The chicken broth itself was a little bland, too. I wrote off the blandness of the noodles because, after all, it was Amish/Dutch/German fare — all of which often taste bland. The chicken was perfectly terrible. — and this isn’t the first time I’ve had this problemat this restaurant. The cause might be two-fold: First, the vegetable oil(or worse yet, cheaper Canola oil) might not have been changed for several days. Secondly, some pieces were amalgamated into«multi-piece» where the pieces were dumped into two or more at a time — causing them to stick together — I got a wing-breast with one piece(I thought it was just a larger piece until I peeled it apart. On the drive home, I found out the ham loaf was bland/mediocre, too. All this for 26 without including the 6 dollar tip(min wage is 8USD — she did 45 minutes of solid work, all tolled — but you cannot save bad food, it just leaves a rotten taste in your mouth.

We’ve enjoyed lunches and dinners at the Old Dutch Restaurant for years on our frequent trips to Hocking Hills. After a day of hiking it’s a great place to grab a quick, reasonably priced buffet meal. There’s tons of seating, so I can’t imagine there’s ever a line. The staff is nice, but stretched too thin, it seems. And for whatever reason, napkins… The regular paper kind… Are really, really hard to get! The last two times, though, have been less than what we’ve come to expect. Seems like the food on the buffet is sitting out longer or is over cooked and dry. The desserts were never terrific, but now they are dry and lacking flavor. It’s still a decent meal for the price!

This is one of those Amish knock off restaurants. Amish people dont own it, run it, or cook in it, but there are some skilled cooks at hand. We got there late for lunch today, and while I usually avoid buffets, we were in a bit of a hurry and this one looked good. And everything was good… moist chicken, great(pollock) fish, good veggies, and some killer chicken noodles, which I eat over mashed potatoes. Service was adequate(I had to wait quite a while for some extra napkins once) but she was very friendly and attended all of our other needs. Dessert was just okay. I had a rather bland piece of apple pie, and learned later they purchase them from an outside vender. I only have two other minor complaints… the mashed potatoes were luke warm(yes, typical of a buffet), and they charge the dinner buffet price for lunch on Sundays, so I was expecting to pay $ 9.99 but ended up paying $ 13.99…a full $ 4 more. Yes, it was on the menu, but it was one of those«small print» jobs. So while Im not a fan, this place is okay. If I found myself in Logan again for lunch(on any day but Sunday) I wouldnt hesitate to go again.

I’d go back for the dessert selection alone. Mile-high lemon meringue pie? Okay! We stopped here after spending a couple hours hiking around Hocking Hill State Park and we needed food badly. We skipped the buffet(which looked great) in favor of the meatloaf and the reuben. Both were tasty and hit the post-hike spot perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming.

My boyfriend and I were spending a weekend in Hocking Hills, so we came up to Rempel’s Grove and Logan for some food and shopping. Olde Dutch was our first stop, and pretty satisfying for lunch.(We did the buffet.) Highlights: crispy fried chicken, tater tot casserole, dense fluffy bread rolls. Not so much: chicken liver. Everything else was fine, and there were lots of options — salad bar, soup, mashed potatoes, corn, vegetable medley, roast beef, etc. Also a dessert bar with cakes, puddings, and pie. Service was fine and the ambiance was casual(perfect for us since we had just finished hiking). In all, this isn’t the kind of place you write home about, but it’s a pretty good option for the area.
